FROG ROCK

In the middle of Weka Pass, halfway between Christchurch and Hanmer Springs, a giant frog-shaped rock surprises – and delights – passing travellers.

WEKA PASS HISTORIC RESERVE

Embark on a 40-minute walk (one way) to a large overhang shelter and concave rock formation featuring Māori rock art. The track is steep but rewarding.

WAIPARA VALLEY VINEYARD TRAIL

Cradled in the palm of Teviotdale Hills, several vineyards including Waipara Hills, Greystone, Black Estate, Pegasus Bay and Terrace Edge. Riesling and pinot noir excel.

THE WEKA PASS RAILWAY

Take the vintage train ride through the limestone landscape of Weka Pass. This 45-minute journey passes between Glenmark and Waikari on selected Sundays and public holidays.
