1. Roys Peak

The track to Roys Peak is number one contender for the region's most popular walk. It's a five to six hour undertaking, much of which is a steady ascent, but the endless lake-meets-mountain views are jaw dropping and the 1578-metre-high summit feels like a huge achievement.

6. Cruise on Lake Wakatipu

Enjoy a 1.5-hour return cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the traditional steamship, TSS Earnslaw. It has been gracing the waters of Lake Wakatipu since 1912.

7. Glenorchy Road

The 46km drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy is renowned for its jaw dropping beauty. Drivable in 45 minutes, in reality you’ll want at least two hours to appreciate spectacular forest, eye-widening cliff edges and lakes framed by mountains.
