The Academy of Art University’s School of Fashion has always fostered exceptional talent each season since 2005, generously providing its students the opportunity to present their collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This season, 13 student designers have been chosen to share their designs on the global runway, launching their hard work among well-seasoned industry professionals and fashion spectators in attendance. From the glamorous production to a live broadcast of the entire fashion show, such commitment and support from the School of Fashion is truly one-of-a-kind. We would like to highlight the following designers for this season: Jaci Hodges: a Texas-raised designer who took inspiration from the Japanese culture, highlighting a resistance felting technique called the ‘Shibori.’ Quirky yet fun, colorful prints dominated her collection and brought life and energy to the opening of the show. Elizabeth Castellon: a native New Yorker from Bronx who utilized leather and wool textures to create distinctive menswear looks that were inspired by classic sportswear and traditional tailoring, all with a unique flair of abstract prints and futuristic silhouettes. Jasmine Gonzales: a Californian from San Francisco, who surprised us all with an abundant collection of remarkable and warm hand-made pieces, ranging from tremendously oversized cable sweaters to wool skirts and velvet pullovers. At KENTON, we congratulate each and every one of the 13 newcomers as they brave the competitive world of fashion and continue this journey on cultivating their fortes through groundbreaking, innovative
