DESCRIPTION
Due to the picturesque landscape of the site, the design should also utilise the slope and views. The brief outlines minimum area requirements and specifies that the building must be a framed structure.
Alice Barriball
A building designed specifically for spiritual celebrations, such as weddings and funerals. It is essential that the building considers the similarities between weddings and funerals as guests journey through each celebration and adapt to accommodate both. The building will hold significant emotional attachment and must be designed with all users in mind.
1
SPACE PLANNING DEVELOPMENT Given the emotional impact this building is set to have, the design prioritises clear and efficient user circulation, through simplifying paths to the x and y axis. It seamlessly accommodates diverse celebrations, recognising shared elements between weddings and funerals with grace and sensitivity.

The ceremony's cantilever design enhances the connection to the landscape. The user can choose between the castle and Bath skyline for weddings or funerals. The castle offers focus, the skyline brings reflection.

The contrast between the flat roof and the distinctive feature roof in the restaurant and ceremony spaces gracefully guides your attention to the different areas of importance. Preserving the iconic Bath skyline view from the Sham Castle was a key priority, as it's a beloved spot for sunset watchers.
The hierarchical roof forms in the design stemmed from exploring diverse architectural approaches that evoke specific emotions, with significant inspiration drawn from the work of E. Fay Jones and the Guildford Crematorium.

Within the context of a walled enclosure that forms part of a small island-based community, the brief was to create a home for the client and their family that connects with nature and improves their work-life balance. Several constraints governed the reconstruction of the brickwork enclosure, including the size of openings that could be created on the original walls. To make the house the most sustainable and comfortable to live in, it was necessary to consider strategic planning and daylighting.
4
The house was designed for ceramicist Jack Hardie, his wife (a teacher) and their home-schooled twin girls. My response was to design a home with an open floor plan to increase family connections. In addition, two 'work' buildings interact with each other, as well as a main living building with strategically positioned windows that play with the surrounding environment.
DEVELOPMENT FORT DESIGN This massing creates a historical link to the southwest fort and offers versatile orientation - inward for intimacy, outward for environmental connection. However, there's a risk of overshadowing and a cold courtyard.
EXTRUDED L-SHAPE Creates a central courtyard between north and south buildings, with a spacious seafacing area to the east and a workspace accessible from the courtyard. However, the closest courtyard section to the building is overshadowed, reducing its appeal. The unclear distinction between work and family areas is seen in red.
UTILISING THE EXISTING WALLS Through the extension of the house onto the original brick wall, the outer walls of the house all act as a load-bearing element. The continuous masonry walls transfer the load from the roof to the foundations. This continuation of the expression of a load-bearing masonry house keeps the history of the island whilst having a contemporary essence.

NORTH & SOUTH MASSING A clear separation between work and family life is achieved through distinct massing zones for different functions. The primary mass is situated to the north, minimising overshadowing and granting the family a panoramic view of its surroundings from the first floor.
EXTRUSION EDITS The diversification and reduction of massing establish distinct zones for a work-life balance, and creates a larger courtyard to improve the main living area.

INFORMATION Type: Residential Software: Sketchup, Autocad, Lumion, Affinity Photo
DESCRIPTION The site for the housing project was located on Bathwick Hill, home to the famous Bath skyline walk. Although there were 4 possible parts of the site for building, we decided not to build on the east. This was to prevent local residents from losing the spectacular views of Bath.
Alice Barriball
Through conscientious design development, we created a contemporary approach to the Royal Crescent and organic semidetached houses that grow out of the landscape as you move towards the south of the site, away from the city.
6
CONTEXT
In this project, the design seamlessly transitions as one moves southward, gradually shifting from compact townhouses to a more organic arrangement of semi-detached houses that harmoniously integrate with the natural hillside surroundings.
Conceptual Idea for Masterplan Throughout the project, a paramount consideration was the preservation of the breathtaking view of the Bath Skyline, ensuring its uninterrupted enjoyment by all.
An integral feature of the design is the amphitheatre, thoughtfully incorporated to accentuate the site's terraced layout, providing a communal space that serves as a vibrant focal point for the community.

During my tenure at Studio Lime, I contributed to a wide spectrum of projects, spanning from large-scale commercial projects to smaller educational retrofits. I played a pivotal role within the design team, engaging in various stages of the design process. I had numerous opportunities to actively participate in site visits, client and design team meetings, as well as continuous professional development (CPD) activities.
8
My responsibilities included assisting in the preparation of tender packages, creating videos showcasing proposed work, spatial planning, intricate technical detailing, conducting site surveys, and updating drawing packages, among other tasks. Visualisation Drawing of Pottern Barns Restoration Project
CONTEXT In the City of Bristol Estate Drawings project, I held a pivotal role, overseeing the meticulous review and rectification of existing plans across multiple sites. As the sole contributor to this endeavour, working closely with the project architect, I prioritised effective time management and maintained comprehensive records of identified issues for thorough evaluation. The quality of my work earned me the opportunity to be involved in the envisioning exercise for College Green, looking to refurbish the external areas and reception space. This undertaking involved tasks such as creating BIM models of the existing building and site and developing three distinct design options to present to the client for their consideration. I subsequently refined the design based on their feedback. This resulted in a final design, shown in these drawings, that seamlessly integrated all three elements.
