Jelba Hotel. Project goal was to provide the city of St. Joseph with 150 hotel rooms, exhibition hall, convention center, meeting hall, and parking garage. My personal approach to the project was to create a building, which could create a new skyline to the city of St. Joseph, a building that could be iconic to the city and also represent the tourism aspect of the city’s life style.

Lobby Space, showing in a distance is the management office space and the front desk. The curved columns are non-structural columns, which are self-illuminating and are used to represent the curving hotel space that is up above the “T� shaped lobby space. And economy single room.

SPRING 2013


Residential design in Empire Michigan two summer houses and one main house for a single family. Each summer house is dedicated for two children. Boat house and a garden shed. Open floor plan for maximum use of open space by limiting interior suppuration walls and creating room separation by diverting floor hight.






Mixed use building for the city of St. Joseph MI, The approach to this project was to design a building that can fit-in with the cities fabric yet has its own identity. On the ground floor providing a restaurant, shopping boutique, barber shop, hair salon, office supply store, and open multi purpose rentable spaces. The top two floors provide residential apartments, with community room on each floor, community laundry room, and on the top floor, a community gym. The final presentation board with a combination of, Hand drafting, watercolor, Sketch up, and Photoshop.





Row house. Project objectives were to provide the city of St. Joseph with a row house model, which the city can use as a model for downtown residential development. Requirements were to design a two-story building with a fully furnished basement space. The approach to the design problem was to avoid interior separation walls as much as possible to provide maximum open floor space. Furniture arrangements helped





Two Story boathouse for a single resident, the first floor contains workshop, restroom, storage area, and kitchen. And the second floor includes living room, full bathroom, and a bed room with covered balcony. The glass wall in the living room facing the river is removable during the summer time for cross ventilation of the building. The site is located in the norther Michigan. The open ceiling space on top of the work shop area can be used to display and or to hang canoe. Hand drafted and Sketchup developed. 3DS and photoshop rendered

Travel Sketches. Six weeks of study tour through Europe passing through Italy, France, England, and Sweden. One-week pure country except two in the case of Italy, also daily trips to nearby cities and towns.

Commercial plaza proposal

Pe単a Blanca, Honduras The Site for this project is located in Pe単a Blanca, Honduras. Pan American Health Services hired our team to produce a master plan for their property. PAHS is a non-profit organization that focuses on assisting the community through a variety of health services. The commercial plaza was a proposal for the current commercial corner on PAHS campus that provides a public plaza and also is used as a storm water management because of the site slope. My approach was to provide a two store buildings with living unites up above and utilizing the corner as a commercial plaza and storm water management. This project was part of a graduate studio project of Urban Design Studio at Andrews University, based in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Due to a previous working relationship with PAHS, the Andrews University team was able to prepare early studies, site documentation, and preliminary concept proposals in July and August 2014. The eleven international graduate architecture students and two professors then traveled to Honduras in September to study a broad range of precedent-setting places and projects and to meet with professionals (Ojojona, Valle de Angeles, Santa Lucia, El Zamorano, Comayagua, Siguatepeque, Santa Barbara, San Pedro Sula, Copan Ruinas, and various places in Guatemala). This visit also enabled the team to study the existing PAHS properties and site conditions in and around Pe単a Blanca. Representing PAHS, Aileen and Stephen Youngberg reviewed preliminary concepts and helped the team identify needs, challenges, and assets. Working with professional consultants in the fields of architecture, engineering, and planning, the team was able to develop refined responses to the conditions observed in the field.

This master plan on the left illustrates a range of distinct investment opportunities proposed on properties owned by Pan American Health Services. These investment opportunities are conceived as distinct and separate development projects that are intended to help shape a larger, interconnected vision.

The design and arrangement of the historic central campus provides the physical framework for healing, everyday work, community life, and worship at PAHS. It is a modest campus with a grand vision for its people, and the design and care reflects that. This plan intends to preserve the buildings and spaces that are noble and purposeful on this campus. It also reaffirms that contact with nature, agricultural work, and fellowship have the ability to point to our Creator and help us to maintain healthy lives.

The southern agricultural fields of PAHS offer a long-term opportunity for future development. With a spectacular view over the Santa Barbara Mountains and its proximity to PAHS and local conveniences in PeĂąa Blanca, this site could merge agricultural activities with small private alder, intended primarily for vacation houses, retirement houses, and possibly long-term recovery housing related to the medical-tourism hospital.

Proposed completion of boys’ dormitory for PAHS. Currently they only have foundation and 4’ walls with all the openings and plumbing lines. Based on the existing foundations I designed a dormitory that includes a two store living space for the dean family and dormitory rooms for the children.
