TRACK INSTALLATION METHOD WITH A CAPACITY OF 265 lb (120kg) BACKGROUND: KWIKtrak system
Having a 220 lb (100 kg) capacity, the new V3 (PN# 9811001), Voyager Lite (PN# 9801001) and Voyager Duo (PN# 9130009 & 9130209) ceiling lifts enable the optimization of the installation method, which in turn calls for a revised KWIKtrak system span chart. It should be noted that present regulations require that the rail system must be rated for at least 265 lb (120 kg). SOLUTION: The « D1 » span, which consists of the maximum distance (center to center) between two consecutive brackets as indicated on the following chart:

NEW SPAN CHART FOR KWIKTRAK RAIL SYSTEMS (D1)
Please take note : •
The maximum admissible length of the track overhang, distance « D2 » between the last bracket and the end of the track, remains at 12” (0.3 m);
•
This chart is applicable to KWIKtrak rail only (# 200*128**)
•
This chart is also applicable for movable KWIKtrak rail of the XY room covering system ;
•
KWIKtrak rail supported by wall posts or wall brackets;
• All KWIKtrak rails supported with bracket part numbers 700.11100 and 700.11105 (or 700.11204 – 1000 lb (455 kg)) must be installed with a minimum of three (3) brackets, spread evenly over the length of the KWIKtrak rail. The only exception to this rule applies to a KWIKtrak

straight rail that has a span of less than 39” (1 m) and that is attached to a KWIKtrak curve.
Wood structure Installation The installation of KWIKtrak bracket numbers 700.11100 and 700.11105 to 2” x 4” wood structures (39 mm x 89 mm) with the use of a sole lag screw is allowed only when the installation is limited to 265 lb (120 kg). The new installation methods must be performed as per the following drawings standards and guidelines : 11210.50 – 2’’x4’’ – suspended tiles 11210.51 - Above wood joists 2’’x4’’/Tiles 12110.50 - 2’’x4’’ - suspended tiles 12210.50 - 2’’x4’’ – suspended drywall 12210.51 - Above wood joists 2’’x4’’/Drywall WARNING : It is important to install the lag screw in the center of the wood joist following the recommendations described below. You must also carefully make sure of the depth of penetration of the lag screw. It must be installed so that the length of thread in contact with the wood is at least 3.5’’ (89 mm), which corresponds to the total length of the wood beam (2” x 4”).
Identification of the installation capacity: The maximum capacity of the installation must be indicated on the KWIKtrak rail by checking the 265lb (120 kg) box on the maximum weight capacity labels, and only after the load testing has been performed and is conclusive.
