JUD GED BY WHAT WE WEAR
IR?
IS IT FA
The truth is what you wear neither defines who you are as a person nor determines your value as a human being.
What we wear only affects other people but also how
not how see us we feel.
However, in the temporal realm of mere mortals, fair or not, people judge us by the way we look and that includes the way we dress.

We Make
n
a JUDGMENTS about people from the clothes they wear
p
BUT ON WHAT BASIS?
CLOTHING
OUR
SPEAKS
There is much more to our clothing choices than we might imagine. For many people, what they wear and our clothing style can speak volumes about us before we even open our mouths.
VOLUMES
i n e d
People have been
b r a w a s h to judge people based on their, looks, appearances, and even for who they are because of society’s stereotypes and media.
Just because someone looks or dresses a certain way, people assume that is how they are. People are often incorrectly judged by their appearance and actions.
J U If a man is walking down the street in torn or tattered clothes, a person instantly assumes that he is poor and cannot afford nice clothes. A man or woman in a suit might not always be the rich person they portray. They could have just used their last pound to buy some nice clothes to get a job.
D G E D Just because a person dresses a certain way does not mean anything. Some of the richest people in the world dress in normal street clothes.
WHY
People are often assumed to be gay or lesbian because of the way they dress. Girls that dress in jeans and a t-shirt all the time may just be more comfortable in them. A guy that dresses in really nice clothes may just have a good sense of style.

DO
NO T
make a man or women a certain stereotype Nevertheless, the clothes a person wears does not reflect who they are.
Someone who is overweight could be looked at as being a slob or someone who doesn’t care about their self.
d y g h t
b o w e i Someone who is underweight or skinny could be seen as a drug addict or bulimic. If people would just stop to think, maybe there are medical conditions causing them to be over or under weight.
People really need to stop sometimes and think about how a look or assumption can make someone feel. Someone should not be judged by the clothes they wear, their abilities, body ornamentation, weight or religion. We will all be judged one day but it is not our place to do the judging.
VICTIMS
OF
MEDIA
People are so often judged superficially based on their actions or appearances. Don’t be a victim of media brainwashing. Just because of something we see on television, does not mean that a person should act that way. Sometimes just a friendly handshake or smile can really make someone’s day. Break free and let someone know that you care. Remember, never judge a man’s actions until you know his motives.
BRAINWASHING
I M E S Our clothes say a great deal about who we are and can signal a great deal of socially important things to others, even if the impression is actually unfounded.

deceiving.
WHY
Our clothes make a huge difference to what people think about us – and without us knowing or in ways we couldn’t even imagine.
DO
PEOPLE
ASSUME
People make their assessments in the first few seconds of seeing another; assessments that go way beyond how well you are dressed and how neat and tidy you might look.
First impressions are really important, but they don’t define our personality. People should get to know each other in order to discover who they really are.

E R Everyone has their own tastes, styles and opinions. Some people choose to wear clothing that is in style, while others prefer dressing in order to be comfortable in what they wear.
