Zero Gravity Hotel Site Information The goal of this project was to design a hotel in the city of Pigeon Forge, a home to many civilians as well as a destination spot for many couples and families coming to enjoy the outgoing nature of this city. One specific destination spot in this location is, Dollywood, a theme park inspired by the country singer, and fellow tennessean, Dolly Parton. This theme park is one of Pigeon Forge’s main attractions and brings many visitors to the city. After studying the site and understanding the proxemics between this site location and Dollywood, it became very apparent that finding a connection to Dollywood would be a good direction to go with for this project. Specifically, it was the rollercoasters in Dollywood that became an interesting and very powerful idea for this design.
Concept Statement With this being said, the idea of this project is to design a hotel for people of all ages, couples, friends, and families that would take you through the journey of experiencing the feelings of being on a rollercoaster and the process of the journey from beginning to end.

Concept Statement The idea for this project was inspired by bioluminescent organisms. This specific design was based on the bioluminescent squid whose spots and body changes size and color when faced with predictors. The challenge in this project was to design an interactive space that includes a science labratory, study areas, and gallery space. Therefore, the concept of this project was contraction versus expansion. These systems are interchangeable and react based on the force of air and physical touch, moving air from one side of the system to the other.

Critical Settings Concept Statement
The concept of this design is combining a soft and organic space with hard and dense elements in order to create a comforting and theraputic space for children with autism. Having done ample amounts of research, this space provides these children with the relaxation and therapy they need, as well as a place for parents to get to know other parents going through the same journey together.

Furniture Design
1
Concept Statement This class consisted of two projects. The first was building a piece of furniture by hand out of wood. The challenge in this project was to master the equipment in the woodshop and be able to create the right joints in order to hold the furniture piece together.
34
35
The interesting part of this design is that it is multipurpose. It was originally designed to be a slide in desk or table for the sofa. However, when you turn it on its side, it can also be used as a spacious side table. The shelves can be used in both the side table and the slide in desk. Finally, the joints are designed to hold more force so the table is strong enough to hold heavy items like lamps or computers.
36
37
2 Concept Statement The second project consisted of a lot of research and design. For this project, we worked in groups of two and designed 3D printed joints in order to hold together simple parts to create a piece of furniture.
Collaborated with: Shelby Ferriter- Interior Architecture
38
39
We developed many process models in order to reach our final design piece, a small side table to hook onto a bedframe. Our final design consisted of two 3D printed joints. One joint connects the table to the bedframe and holds one end of the table top in place. It also has a shelf underneath for storage, and the other joint holds the other end of the table top and works as a jewelry hanger, as well.
