“I was 17 when I first visited the Balearic Islands, and when I left I was in floods of tears. Every time I came here on holiday I would end up crying when I left. I love to travel, and I’ve been to many beautiful islands, but I would only end up in tears when leaving the Balearics. Perhaps there is a connection from a previous life, but Mallorca truly feels like home. We initially bought our property here as a holiday home in 2010 whilst living in Austria running a hotel. When we had to close during winter 2020 because of the pandemic, it gave us a unique opportunity to spend the season here, which eventually led to the decision to move permanently. We live in the southwest and adjusting was very easy for both us and the children. Now, I can say I’m addicted to island life. I grew up in countries with mountains and snow – in the middle of the Alps, so I love having the seaside so close, and the wonderful warm climate.”

“Tenía 17 años cuando visité las Islas Baleares por primera vez, y cuando me fui estaba llorando a mares. Cada vez que venía aquí de vacaciones terminaba llorando cuando era el momento de irse. Me encanta viajar y he estado en muchas otras islas, pero solo acababa llorando al dejar las Baleares. Quizás exista una conexión de una vida anterior, pero desde siempre he sentido Mallorca como mi casa. En 2010 compramos una propiedad aquí como casa de vacaciones, mientras vivíamos en Austria y dirigíamos un hotel. Cuando en 2020 tuvimos que cerrar debido a la pandemia, tuvimos la oportunidad única de pasar la temporada aquí, lo que sin duda nos ayudó a tomar la decisión de mudarnos definitivamente a Mallorca. Vivimos en el suroeste y adaptarnos fue muy fácil tanto para nosotros como para los niños. Ahora, puedo decir que me soy adicta a la vida en la isla. Crecí en países con montañas y nieve, en medio de los Alpes, por lo que me encanta tener la costa tan cerca y el maravilloso clima cálido del mediterráneo”.

„Ich war 17, als ich das erste Mal auf den Balearen war, und als ich abreiste, brach ich in Tränen aus. Jedes Mal, wenn ich hierher in den Urlaub fuhr, musste ich bei der Abreise weinen. Ich liebe es zu reisen, und ich war schon auf vielen schönen Inseln, aber die Balearen habe ich immer nur unter Tränen verlassen. Vielleicht gibt es eine Verbindung aus einem früheren Leben, aber Mallorca fühlt sich wirklich wie ein Zuhause an.

Wir haben unsere Immobilie hier 2010 zunächst als Ferienhaus gekauft, während wir in Österreich lebten und ein Hotel betrieben. Als wir im Winter 2020 wegen der Pandemie schließen mussten, bot sich uns die einmalige Gelegenheit, die Saison hier zu verbringen, was schließlich zu der Entscheidung führte, dauerhaft umzuziehen. Wir leben im Südwesten, und die Umstellung war für uns und die Kinder sehr einfach. Jetzt kann ich sagen, dass ich süchtig nach dem Inselleben bin. Ich bin in Ländern mit Bergen und Schnee aufgewachsen - mitten in den Alpen - und liebe es, das Meer so nah zu haben und das wunderbare warme Klima.”

“My partner Jolanta and I are from Hamburg where we met four years ago. Jolanta worked in a residential home for people with dementia, and since my mother had dementia I understood the suffering that relatives of those with this disease went through. From our combined experience a new business idea was born - a website where relatives of people with dementia could access valuable information, resources and support. Building an online business gave us the freedom to live anywhere we wanted, and from several vacation trips to Mallorca we knew it was a wonderful island. We love the perfect mix of warm climate, wonderful views and light, beautiful nature, and the city of Palma which offers all kinds of fun. In this special atmosphere, settling in and meeting people has been effortless, and we have never felt alone or helpless. Now we have found our rhythm here we are planning to offer support for older residents, with or without dementia, and eventually offer courses for their relatives on the island we now call home.”

“Mi pareja Jolanta y yo somos de Hamburgo, donde nos conocimos hace cuatro años. Jolanta trabajaba en una residencia para personas mayores, y como mi madre tenía demencia entendí el sufrimiento que pasaban los familiares de esta enfermedad. De nuestra experiencia combinada nació una nueva idea de negocio: un sitio web donde los familiares de las personas con demencia podían acceder a información, recursos y sobretodo apoyo. Construir un negocio online nos dio la libertad de poder vivir en cualquier lugar y, gracias a varias vacaciones en Mallorca, descubrimos que era una isla maravillosa. Nos encanta la combinación perfecta de clima cálido, maravillosas vistas y luz, así como de hermosa naturaleza y la ciudad de Palma que ofrece todo tipo de actividades y servicios. En esta atmósfera tan especial, instalarnos y conocer gente ha sido fácil y nunca nos hemos sentido solos o desvalidos. Ahora sentimos que hemos encontrado nuestro lugar aquí, estamos planeando ofrecer apoyo a personas mayores, con o sin demencia, y eventualmente ofrecer cursos para sus familiares en esta isla que ahora llamamos hogar”.

“Meine Partnerin Jolanta und ich kommen aus Hamburg, wo wir uns vor vier Jahren kennengelernt haben. Jolanta arbeitete in einem Wohnheim für Menschen mit Demenz, und da meine Mutter an Demenz erkrankt war, verstand ich das Leiden, das Angehörige dieser Krankheit durchmachen. Aus unseren gemeinsamen Erfahrungen wurde eine neue Geschäftsidee geboren - eine Webseite, auf der Angehörige von Menschen mit Demenz wertvolle Informationen, Ressourcen und Unterstützung finden können. Der Aufbau eines OnlineGeschäfts gab uns die Freiheit, überall dort zu leben, wo wir wollten, und von mehreren Urlaubsreisen nach Mallorca wussten wir, dass es eine wunderbare Insel ist. Wir lieben die perfekte Mischung aus warmem Klima, wunderbaren Aussichten und Licht, wunderschöner Natur und der Stadt Palma, die jede Menge Spaß bietet. In dieser besonderen Atmosphäre war es mühelos, sich einzuleben und Menschen zu treffen, und wir haben uns nie allein oder hilflos gefühlt. Jetzt, wo wir hier unseren Rhythmus gefunden haben, planen wir, ältere Menschen mit oder ohne Demenz zu unterstützen und eventuell auch Kurse für ihre Angehörigen auf der Insel anzubieten, die wir nun unser Zuhause nennen.”

“Arriving here I had an instant feeling of coming home. Mallorca presents a beautiful mix of pure nature, heartfelt people and a sense of opportunity. I think the island is a fabulous place for creating art. Inspiration comes in its beauty and traditions, and the space allows me to grow as a person and as an artist. My partner and I come from big cities so we feel the difference in pace which has had a real calming and softening effect on us. In such comfortable surroundings I feel even more motivated and better focused to deliver excellent art photography, and passion for my commercial projects. What I think I love most, however, is my sense of well-being here, and that my little family is very happy. We have made great friends and have integrated into a very loving community. There’s an energy of truly seeing one another, and lifting each other up, and in the end, I think that this is why we have chosen to be here.”

“Al llegar aquí tuve una sensación instantánea de volver a casa. Mallorca representa una hermosa mezcla de naturaleza pura, gente sincera y oportunidades. Creo que la isla es un lugar fabuloso para crear arte. La inspiración está en su belleza y sus tradiciones y el espacio me permite a la vez crecer como persona y como artista. Mi pareja y yo venimos de grandes ciudades, por lo que sin duda hemos notado mucho la diferencia en el ritmo. Bajar revoluciones ha provocado en nosotros un efecto de calma y serenidad. En un entorno tan cómodo, me siento aún más motivado y mejor enfocado para conseguir una excelente fotografía artística y vivir con más pasión mis proyectos profesionales. Pero sin duda, lo que más me gusta es la sensación de bienestar que siento cuando estoy aquí y que poder ver a mi pequeña familia feliz. Hemos hecho grandes amigos y nos hemos integrado en esta acogedora comunidad. “I had long dreamed of slow living in Mallorca. The beauty and diversity captivated me 25 years ago when I discovered the island with my annual fasting hiking groups. I still look fondly at pictures of my first hike up the Galatzo, the special light and the deep blue sea always in view. Moving to the island after entering so-called retirement has seen me take on a new project - accompanying mature people to consciously shape their third stage of life in such a way that these precious years are among the most meaningful, fulfilling and happiest of their life. For me, it’s about creating a new consciousness through advanced living and bringing that together with slow living on the island. ‘It is not important to be young in years, but to live whole, real and alive’. This has become my guiding principle ever since I spotted ‘silver curls’ in my reflection. And now, I am embodying this - living my own dream, on Mallorca.”

“Durante mucho tiempo había soñado con una vida tranquila en Mallorca. La belleza y la diversidad me cautivaron hace 25 años cuando descubrí la isla con mis grupos anuales de senderismo. Todavía miro con cariño las fotos de mi primera caminata por el Galatzó, esa luz tan especial y la profundidad del mar siempre de fondo. Mudarme a la isla después supuestamente jubilarme me ha llevado a asumir un nuevo proyecto: acompañar a personas maduras a vivir de forma consciente la tercera etapa de su vida de tal manera que estos preciosos años se encuentren entre los más significativos, satisfactorios y felices de su vida. . Para mí, se trata de crear una nueva conciencia a través de la vida avanzada y unirla con una vida relajada y con sentido en la isla. “No es importante ser joven en años, sino vivir plenamente y sentirse vivo”. Este se ha convertido en mi máxima desde que vi ‘rizos plateados’ en mi propio espejo. Y ahora, lo estoy personificando y viviendo a través de mi propio sueño, en Mallorca ”.

Die Schönheit und Vielfalt hat mich schon vor 25 Jahren in ihren Bann gezogen, als ich die Insel mit meinen jährlichen Fastenwandergruppen entdeckte. Noch heute schaue ich mir gerne Bilder von meiner ersten Wanderung auf den Galatzo an, das besondere Licht und das tiefblaue Meer immer im Blick. Für den Umzug auf die Insel nach dem Eintritt in den so genannten Ruhestand habe ich durch meine eigenen Erfahrungen ein ganz neues Projekt entwickelt: „Lebenskunst für Fortgeschrittene“ Ich begleite reife Menschen, um ihren dritten Lebensabschnitt bewusst so zu gestalten, dass diese kostbaren Jahre zu den sinnvollsten und glücklichsten ihres Lebens werden. Für mich geht es darum, durch ein neues Bewusstsein für ein langes Leben gesund und in Einklang mit sich zu sein. Und dies mit dem Gefühl von Gelassenheit, Leichtigkeit und Lebensfreude zu vereinen. „Es kommt nicht darauf an, jung an Jahren zu sein, sondern ganz, echt und lebendig zu leben”. Das ist zu meinem Leitsatz geworden, seit ich meine Silberlocken im Spiegel sehe. Wir können noch einmal neu wählen! Ich lebe jetzt meinen lang ersehnten Traum auf Mallorca.
