Established in 1998, ABC Awards (ABC) is the result of combining more than 180 years of regional examination and assessment practices into one nation onal Awarding Organisation. As a registered charity we are continuing the ttra radition of our founding organisations who were established by the sector orr tto o deliver useful and practical qualifications whilst offering exceptional ssu uppor t and ABC is proud to still be “owned” by the sector and working for or the sector. An Experienced and nd Knowledgeable Team Our friendly and re responsive approach to customers means all our centres have accesss to to a dedicated Qualification Administrator as well as unlimited access tto o a Business Development Manager who can answer any queries or conce nc cerns you might have. Our Moderators are all subject specialists and are chosen by us for their experience, knowledge and ability to suppor t centres to deliver ABC’s qualifications successfully.
A Wide Range of Qualifications Our por tfolio or more than 600 Ofqual regulated qualifications cover 14 sectors with qualificationss to suitt all ages and abilitties. We have designed all ABC qualifications with the suppor t of relevvant stake eholderss to make sure that they meet the needs of the current industries across the UK. Thiss means that the qualifications are designed to give learners the skills needed to fin nd employment, progress within education or enhance their skills in their current job role. Work-Based Environmental Conservation The ABC Awards’ qualifications in Work-Based Environmental Conservation Skills provide practical experience and knowledge of the land based sector to support engagement, participation, achievement and progression. They aim to help learners decide whether to undertake further training or employment within this occupational area.
Our Work-Based Environmental Conservation Skills qualifications aim to provide a broad insight into all aspects of conservation. The qualifications focus on areas including producing management plans for sites, motnitoring and reporting on environmental issues, through to establishing and protecting vegetation and constructing, maintaining and preparing paths, walkways, fords, signs and markers.
ABC Awards’ qualifications in Work-Based Environmental Conservation aim to enable learners to: • provide knowledge and understanding that will support effective and efficient working practices with minimum detriment to sensitive habitats or wildlife • promote and encourage good working practices in relation to safety, sustainability and handling of waste • develop a pragmatic and structured approach to achieving the required standard of work in a way that complements and enhances the unique characteristics of each type of habitat • encourage sound survey technique and observation skills in order to understand the characteristics and individual species of a habitat prior to commencing operations • foster effective team-working practices to underpin the achievement of environmental quality and biodiversity • cultivate effective communication skills with teams, interested parties and general public to achieve the desired balance between the conservation, production, utility, recreational and aesthetic value of the work undertaken

Practical and Environmental Conservation Skills ABC Awards’ qualifications in Practical and Environmental Conservation Skills are designed to provide learners with an understanding of environmental conservation, together with practical skills that can be used in the workplace which can provide a firm basis for a career in this sector. Land Based Operations
The ABC qualification in Land Based Operations provides practical experience and knowledge of the land based sector to support engagement, participation, achievement and progression for learners at Level 1. Our Land Based Operations qualifcation cover a wide range of sections including, basic tractor operation and assisting with the care of animals, right through to maintaining the safety of self and others in the workplace and contributing to the preparation of forest and woodland sites. The flexibility of the qualification allows learners to choose units from horticulture, environmental conservation or animal care to build up their qualifications. ABC oer the following range of qualifications designed specifically for learners wishing to study within the Land Based Operations pathway: •

Apprenticeships Environmental Conservation Apprenticeships are available to learners who have a vested interest in the land based industry and who want to gain the skills needed for a successful career in this field. Apprentices get to develop land based specific skills and knowledge whilst learning key/core skills. ABC has a number of qualifications in the Animal Care sector that contribute towards apprenticeships.
