Established in 1998, ABC Awards (ABC) is the result of combining more than 1.2 Section heading 180 years of regional examination and assessment practices into one national 1.3 Section heading Awarding Organisation. As a registered charity we are continuing the tradition of our organisations who were established by the sector to deliver useful 2.0founding Section heading and practical qualifications whilst offering exceptional support and ABC is proud 2.1 Section heading to still be “owned” by the sector and working for the sector. 2.2 Section heading
ABC offers an outstanding range of vocational qualifications which reflect the 3.0 Section heading and centres look for in learners and employees. At ABC, skills that employers we recognise the importance of continuing to offer not only a wide range and breadth of qualifications, but just as significantly, excellent customer support.
An Experienced and Knowledgeable Team Our friendly and responsive approach to customers means all our centres have access to a dedicated Qualification Administrator as well as unlimited access to a Business Development Manager who can answer any queries or concerns you might have. Our Moderators are all subject specialists and are chosen by us for their experience, knowledge and ability to support centres to deliver ABC’s qualifications successfully.
A Wide Range of Qualifications Our portfolio or more than 600 Ofqual regulated qualifications cover 14 sectors with qualifications to suit all ages and abilities. We have designed all ABC qualifications with the support of relevant stakeholders to make sure that they meet the needs of the current industries across the UK. This means that the qualifications are designed to give learners the skills needed to find employment, progress within education or enhance their skills in their current job role. We have more than 1200 centres with many tens of thousands of certificates being issued each year.

Horticulture Horticulture is a broad and diverse industry employing thousands of people a year across the Landbased sector. As the horticulture industry is one of the largest employers in the UK, ABC Awards’ has worked with industry specialists to produce relevant and significant qualifications. Our qualifications aim to give learners an insight into a range of careers, whilst allowing them to develop their knowledge within a chosen field. These qualifications have been developed in collaboration with industry providers and Lantra. They will enable learners to gain appropriate skills and knowledge to progress to higher levels of learning or to employment in the land based sector. Practical Countryside Skills The ABC Awards’ qualifications in Practical Countryside Skills provide practical experience and knowledge in a wide range of areas within the land based sector including, horticulture, animal care, environment and conservation and floristry. They will help learners to decide whether to undertake further training or employment within the landbased area. The ABC qualifications in Practical Countryside Skills aim to: • develop practical skills that will support those seeking a career in the horticultural industry • provide knowledge and understanding that could support further study within the land based sector • promote and encourage good working practices in relation to safety and the environment

Work-Based Horticulture The ABC Awards’ qualifications in Work-Based Horticulture have been developed in collaboration with industry, providers, other Awarding Organisations and Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the Land based industries. Pathways in our Work-Based Horticulture qualifications are available in horticulture, production horticulture, landscaping, sports turf (green keeper and grounds man) and parks, gardens and green spaces. This qualification will be put forward as part of the Environmental and Land-based Studies Apprenticeship Framework.

Practical Floristry Floristry is about designing, creating, retailing and delivering floral displays for a variety of occasions. Our qualifications cover the wholesale buying of flowers, sundries and associated products, through to preparing them for sale.
The ABC Awards and Certificates in Practical Floristry Skills provide practical experience and knowledge of the floristry sector to support engagement, participation, achievement and progression for learners at Entry Level and Level 1. They aim to help learners with all aspects of floristry from identifying flowers and their parts, wrapping/ arranging flowers and plants into arrangements for sale, through to how to handle stock in a retail environement. The ABC Awards and Certificates in Practical Floristry Skills aim to enable learners to: • • • •

Apprenticeships Land Based Apprenticeships are available to learners who have a vested interest in the land based industry and who want to gain the skills needed for a successful career in this field. Apprentices get to develop land based specific skills and knowledge whilst learning key/core skills. ABC has no hidden fees or charges so the prices you see on our web site are the prices you actually pay. Our costs are inclusive of enrolment, certification and moderation fees.
Funding ABC Awards has endeavoured to provide signposting to funding eligibility but centres are advised that these are guides only and clarification from funding providers should be sought.
