Take a walk and see your neighbourhood in a whole new light! Whitley Wonders is a communitycreated arts trail on the pedestrian streets near Whitley Bay Metro Station. The pedestrian streets around Whitley Bay Metro transform into an outdoor art gallery with creative window displays made by local people.

The 2022 Art Trail saw 45 homes create and host amazing artworks in their windows that wowed over 500 people visting and seeing the neighbourhood in a whole new light. Streets included are: Albany Gardens / Albert Terrace / Alexandra Terrace / Gladstone Terrace / Devonshire Terrace / Lish Avenue / Burnfoot Terrace / Stanley Terrace / Waterford Crescent / Clarence Crescent. All artworks will be visible from the street so there is no need to go into people’s gardens or through their gate.

Spanish City Easter Funfair

Friday 7th - Thursday 13th April

The popular annual Easter funfair returns once again this Easter. All the traditional favourites will be there including the Waltzer and many more. Located on The Links, just a stone's throw away from the new Spanish City, great local arcades and some of the best ice cream and fish and chips in the country. facebook.com/TurnersFunfairs

North Tyneside 10k Road Race

The race starts at the Parks Sports Centre in North Shields before heading down to North Shields Fish Quay and winding along the coast taking in Tynemouth Priory and Castle, the seafront, Spanish City and St Mary's Lighthouse.

The event is supported by Start Fitness and Clearly Drinks. The event is closed to entrants, but spectators always add to the atmosphere, and definitely spur the runners on!

Tynemouth Food Festival

Saturday 13th - Sunday 14th May Tynemouth Food Festival returns to the spectacular Tynemouth Priory and Castle for another year of epic street food, kids activities, live music, foodie marketplace and more, all with stunning views in an amazing setting. facebook.com/ tynemouthfoodfestival

Whitley Bay Carnival

Friday 26th - Sunday 28th May Whitley Bay Carnival is all about joining in and having fun, and marks the start of the summer season. This year is the 10th anniversary of the carnival! The thousand strong costumed parade is the centrepiece of a colourful family celebration, bringing crowds to the Spanish City Plaza and The Links, to enjoy circus, street arts, live music and more alongside traditional seaside fairground rides, street food, craft ale bars, the arts market and trade stalls. The Saturday morning parade sets off from Whitley Bay Metro Station at 11am and is due to arrive on The Links at 12 noon via Station Road, Whitley Road, Park View and Marine Ave.

Feast By The Sea

The Spanish City Plaza will be transformed into an amazing Feast by the Sea. Visitors can explore some of the region's best street food alongside bars, small rides for children and some great entertainment. Mouth Of The Tyne Festival

Mouth of the Tyne Festival returns with big shows at Tynemouth Priory and Castle, a spectacular street arts programme, a huge parade, jazz stage, silent disco and stacks of stuff at Tynemouth Station too. Full details and line ups will be released soon.
