Stacked Athleisure Located in the corner of an industrial site in the outskirts of Los Angeles, California, The Stacked Athleisure building’s primary focus is to target material and building detail composition, while maintaining an eye for concept and design. The program includes: a weight room, an Olympic size pool, two full basketball courts, and a health/ food center. Due to its context and conditions, the ground level is used as an activity/engaging platform for the locals and commuters all year around. This is accomplished by elevating the building from two structural cores on each side, ultimately creating a long span between levels. Due to this feature, every level of the structure has an open plan layout, which benefits the program it contains. In conclusion, when looking at the exterior of the project, it is rather simple. However, when one experiences the building from the interior or when looked at in section, he or she can begin to understand its true complexity. 6

Making Faces The principle objective of this project is to design an extension of the existing Bird Library, located on the North side of Syracuse University campus (see aerial image). The project aims to explore architectural strategies associated with the design of an appropriate and well developed facade. Due to the mixed nature of the site and lack of responsiveness of Bird Library to its context, my project attempts to propose a careful and hierarchical assessment of these general site conditions, context, and program.

Gallery and Studio This project addresses the implications that artists face in NYC and proposes a solution to these issues. Ultimately questioning the following: is there benefits of a transparent gallery and studio space for artists? For this reason, this project intends to create an integrated gallery/studio space that socially engages artists with the public to help the success of an artist’s work. To move away from exclusive typologies of art galleries and elite spaces, the structure of this project employs a combination of strategies that are typically unseen in modern museums. By opening the space and creating these large transparent windows, the space becomes instantly more accessible to the public. Additionally, the unique location of the site along the high line provides even more accessible outlets for patrons to enter through.

Gallery and Studio As it stands, the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY has lost the interest of the community which has resulted in lower attendance rates. This project aims to look for a new means of interacting with the community and creating something that would attract more visitors. Through the analysis of the Everson Museum and its plaza, the juxtaposition between the natural and artificial ground came into play. My design proposes a temporary pavilion-like structure that connects the museum to the plaza by means of an “occupiable promenade.” The promenade features a perforated structure that creates the illusion of being in the park, while still occupying an enclosed space. In order to renew the interest of the community for the museum, there is an added cafe, outdoor seating, covered market and an outdoor garden incorporated into the pavilion.

The Roger Williams Memorial The Roger Williams Center for Justice, Democracy, and Debate, aims to design a place where one could gather to protest and express his or her own opinions without the fear of persecution. Located in Sakura Park, NYC, the program of this center features an archive, printing studio, exhibition, and a contemplative space. Inspired by Williams’ ideas of human rights, individuality, and freedom of speech, each “individual object” of the structure is designed to express his ideologies. Although separated, these entities are unified so that they work as a whole. Furthermore, the southeast side of the edifice has a coplanar facade that completes the street front for Claremont St, while the facade facing Riverside St creates a more dynamic profile. Through a series of different leveled platforms, the public space is designed to house hundreds of people in an organized system.
