CHRISTMAS 2017
Nytänk och extra allt För de flesta av oss vilar det ett romantiskt skimmer över våra julminnen och våra barndoms jular ligger till grund för hur vi skapar våra egna jultraditioner som vuxna. I min familj älskar vi hela månaden december, speciellt förberedelserna och pyntandet inför advent. Färska blommor, doften av exotiska kryddor och det vackra ljuset från papperstjärnor som lyser upp i det kalla svenska vintermörkret. Vi på Watt&Veke ser det som vår plikt att utveckla och förnya adventstjärnan. Julen 2017 är inget undantag. Ebba (sid 13) är en stjärna med extra allt: starka färger, broderat mönster, paljetter, fodrad med silkespapper och med matchande presentask. Julstjärnornas Rolls Royce! Snygg både tänd och släckt. För dig som gillar färg finns också nya Skina (sid 14) samt två nya färger i Isadora-familjen (sid 17). Sedan vill jag lyfta fram den nya "Lapplandsserien" (sid 41), fem lite mindre, snövita stjärnor i folkloristisk stil, kompletta med inbyggd batterislinga. Kan därför
placeras väldigt fritt: i bokhyllan, i badrummet, i köket. Hitta nya ställen för en adventsstjärna! Adventsljusstaken är en ständig utmaning. Hur kan den förnyas? I år är vi stolta över att kunna presentera en helt ny modell, Elda (sid 8), utvecklad av designstudenten Helena Hansson. Genom ett indirekt LED-ljus i slitsade kopparrör ser Elda ut att brinna i basen, medan rören glöder i gult och rött. Magiskt! Och jätteroligt att få samarbeta med en ung, nytänkande designer. En produkt som öppnar nya användningsområden är Tindra (sid 46), en modern stjärna i metall som står för sig själv, i vitt, guld eller svart, med hundratals små hål som släpper igenom ljuset från den inbyggda batterislingan. Trendigt och traditionellt på samma gång. Tusen och en natt-känsla om du frågar mig! Tänk att vi får vara med och skapa nya jultraditioner i så många hem runt om i världen, det är en stor ära.

Innovation and extra everything Christmas memories for most of us are no doubt a little rose-tinted, and our childhood images influence how we create our own Christmas traditions as adults. We love the whole of December in my family, especially the preparations and decorations coming up to the first Sunday of Advent. Fresh flowers, the smell of exotic spices and the beautiful soft light from paper stars that brighten up the cold winter darkness in the depths of Sweden. We almost feel that we have a duty at Watt&Veke to develop and reinvent the advent star. Christmas 2017 is no exception. Ebba (p. 13) is a star that has extra everything: bright colours, embroidered patterns, sequins, lined with silk paper and comes in a matching gift box. The Rolls Royce of Christmas stars! Stylish when switched on, equally stylish off. If you like colour, you'll love new Skina (p. 14) and the two new colours in the Isadora family (p. 17). I'd like to blow the trumpet for the new "Lapland series" (p. 41), five slightly smaller, snow-white stars in folklore style. They come complete with a built-in battery loop, so you can put them wherever
you want: on a bookshelf, in the bathroom, in the kitchen - you choose! You can always find new places for an advent star. The advent candlestick is always a bit of a challenge. How on earth can it be recreated? This year we are very proud to introduce a completely new model, Elda (p. 8), developed by Helena Hansson, a design student. Elda looks like it is on fire underneath with an indirect LED light in a slotted copper tube, while the tubes above glow in yellow and red. Magic! And working with a young, innovative designer is great fun. Tindra is a lamp that offers a myriad of new areas to try out (p. 46): a modern star in metal that stands all on her own. She comes in white, gold or black, and has hundreds of small holes that let out tiny beams of light from the built-in battery loop. Trendy and traditional, both at once. If you ask me, it's got a bit of a thousand and one nights about it! Just think, that we can be involved in creating new Christmas traditions in so many homes around the world – it really is a great honour.

et började med en resa till Indien. Jag var där under Diwalli, en av de största helgerna i landet, ljusets högtid. Gator och torg dekoreras då med pappersstjärnor i starka färger - en flera hundra år gammal tradition. Där och då föddes idén att utveckla den indiska stjärnan och göra den renare, och anpassa den till en mer skandinavisk stil. Och på den vägen är det. Med julsortimentet tar vi ut svängarna och tillåter oss att vara mer skandinaviska än vanligt och mer traditionella, men även mer glamorösa. Vi jobbar
entusiastiskt med alla nya möjligheter som LED-tekniken ger: nya former, fler ljuskällor och nättare armaturer. Här har det hänt massor! Ledordet inför varje kollektionsstart är magi, oavsett om det gäller stjärnor, slingor eller adventsljusstakar. Vi vill skapa ett magiskt ljus. Det ska gnistra och glimma och sprida julstämning i rummet. När vi uppnår det har vi lyckats. Ju mer vi låter vår kärlek till julen komma fram, desto bättre blir våra produkter. Det ska vara äkta och personligt. Bara då är det Watt&Veke.
t all started with a trip to India. I was there during Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights – one of the biggest holidays in the country. In a centuries-old tradition, the streets and squares were all decorated with paper stars in bright colours. The idea was born there and then to develop the Indian star, to simplify it and adapt it to a more Scandinavian style. That's the way it happened. In our Christmas range we really let things go, as well as being even more Scandinavian than ever; more traditional at the same time as being more glamorous. We work with renewed enthusiasm with all the new opportunities that
LEDs provide: new shapes, more light sources and slimmer fittings. A whole lot of things have happened here recently! The key word before the start of every collection is MAGIC, whether it is stars, loops or advent candlesticks. We want to create that magical light. It should sparkle and gleam and spread Christmas cheer all over the room. If we achieve this, we've succeeded. The more we allow our love of Christmas to be expressed, the better our products become. It has to be genuine and it must be personal. Only then is it Watt&Veke.

Some products are building on traditional ideas, yet bring some thing totally new and innoÂvative to the table. Such as Elda, a totally new design, with LED lights hidden in slit copper pipes, glowing from below, creatiing the illusion of a fire, and at the same time bringing the pipes to life in wonderful orange and yellow.

Stardust
The Gloria stars are made of a steel frame with cotton strings creating the volume and the soft texture. With built-in battery-powered LEDs - so you can place it almost anywhere. All our stars are sold without mains cables. Don’t forget to complement your order with cables of your choice. See below. Please note that the bulb-protector, included with all our stars to shield the paper from the heat, only fits threaded E14 lamp holders, such as ours. For those of you who want to fit one of our stars on another lamp stand than those included with our table stars, we also provide star stands separately, fitting any threaded E14 or E27 lamp holder.
