CHRISTMAS 2018
En jul med natur Den skandinaviska julen handlar mycket om att vara inomhus. Ute är det ju så kallt och mörkt. Vi sitter i våra stugor och äter och myser och tänder fler lampor och ljus än vanligt. Men vi gör också utflykter i naturen, inte sällan för att göra det int inne. Jag minns själv hur vi gick ut i skogen och tog en gran när jag var liten. För mig var det ett speciellt ögonblick som knöt an till något gammalt, till naturens ursprunglighet. I våra traditioner har granen sin plats tillsammans med enris, mossa, lav och lingonris – vi tar naturen med oss in i stugvärmen. Det har vi tagit fast på i årets julkollektion, vilket har skapat en härlig dynamik i ett sortiment som innehåller allt från torkad mossa till pärlor och paljetter. Den röda tråden för de lite mer utstickande nyheterna är att de baseras på våra populära mikroslingor, som rustika Herman (sid 42) eller
runda Ofelia (sid 40) – mossbelupna ståltrådsigurer som kan ställas eller hängas där saknaden efter naturen är som störst. Eller det pärlbeströdda fredsmärket Winston (sid 42) – som förstås får hänga kvar efter jul – och de glittriga 3D-stjärnorna Polar (s 45) och Alexa (sid 42). Kollektionens kitschjuveler, Tsar och Pope (sid 42) hänger du i ditt mest glamourtörstande hörn. Även på stjärnsidan har vi förnyat oss. Mest tydligt i form av de eleganta, batteridrivna ståstjärnorna Juliette (sid 38), som i färgerna pink, blush och guld perfekt matchar traditionellt hängande Julia (sid 8). Vi har också utökat storsäljarna Isadora (sid 14) och Ebba (sid 17) med versioner i bländande vitt. Sortimentet toppas av en ny toppstjärna, Aurora (sid 49), för den lite mindre granen. Finns även som matchande slinga. Välkommen till Watt&Vekes ljuvliga jul!

At Christmas time in Scandinavia we like to spend time indoors. Not surprising really, since it’s generally cold and dark outside. So we sit indoors, eating, talking and laughing together, and lighting dozens of candles and lamps. There is an important outdoor aspect to Christmas, though, and its connections with nature. I remember how we used to go into the forest when I was young and cut down a spruce for the Christmas tree. It was a very special feeling, which re-established old links with our origins in nature. Besides the tree, we used to decorate the house with twigs, moss, lichens, lingon twigs – in fact, half the forest was taken into the house. And that’s what we’ve done in this year’s Christmas collection, which has been broadened a lot in terms of variation and range. It’s all in there somewhere, from dried moss to beads and sequins. Many of the new items that stand out from the crowd are based on our popular micro light strands. Such as rustic Herman (p. 42)
or rounded Ofelia (p. 40), both steel wire igures covered with moss that can placed wherever you most need a reminder of nature. Others include the bead-spangled peace symbol Winston (p. 42), who may be left hanging after Christmas of course, and the glittering 3D-stars Polar (p. 45) and Alexa. The kitschest gems in the collection, Tsar and Pope should be reserved for spaces in most need of glamour. As for the stars, we have done some reinventing there too. This is most obvious in the design of the elegant, battery-powered standing star Julietta (p. 38), which in pink, blush and gold matches the traditional hanging Julia (p. 8) perfectly. Isadora (p. 14) and Ebba (p. 17), our big sellers, have also been given new versions in dazzling white. The top of the range is a new top star, Aurora (p. 49), designed for a smallish Christmas tree, and also available as a matching light strand. Welcome to Christmas with Watt&Veke!
