Antarctica Climate Change Project

AKP supports the pioneering research of Dr. James McClintock on the effects of climate change on the marine life of the Southern Ocean by contributing to the purchase of essential supplies and equipment, which are delivered during a special presentation on A&K’s Luxury Expedition Cruise.

Husavik Whale Museum

In 2016, AKP and A&K guests supported the construction of a new wing of the Husavik Whale Museum to house the skeleton of a blue whale. AKP continues to support ongoing maintenance and enhancements to the display to foster a deeper understanding of the world’s largest mammal.

“In Antarctica, you do not have to be a scientist to see that climate change is happening. The glaciers on the peninsula are under rapid recession, and nearly 80 percent of the breeding pairs of Adélie penguins have disappeared. The most important role I have with A&K is to demonstrate these changes in real time, which often has guests leaving as advocates for preserving this delicate ecosystem.”
