CONCEPT IDEA : LOW CENTER OF GRAVITY Low center of gravity (as compared to a normal posture)
While performing stunts, skateboarders have a tendency to bend their knees and spread their hands to maintain BALANCE. When they bend, the CENTER OF GRAVITY changes and goes below the normal point, thus increasing stability. The thought behind this concept revolves around the above idea.

DRY FISH
PACKAGING
DESIGN BRIEF To design a new introductory packaging for dry fish targetting the upper segment
COURSE DETAILS Name: Packaging
Duration: 4 Weeks
RESEARCH POPULAR DRY FISHES Fresh fish rapidly deteriorates unless some way can be found to preserve it. Drying is a method of food preservation that works by removing water from the food, which inhibits the growth of microorganisms. Open air drying using sun and wind has been practiced since ancient times to preserve food.

FUELIDATOR AN ANTI-THEFT FUEL APPLICATION
DESIGN BRIEF To design a solution for 4-wheeler users that helps them validate the amount of fuel filled at the petrol stn thus avoiding any fuel theft during refueling
COURSE DETAILS Name: Human Machine Interface
Duration: 4 weeks
RESEARCH EXISTING DATA
More than 45000 petrol/diesel stns in India.
100 million vehicles running on Indian roads
Daily interaction with the fuel attenders
Blind Trust on the fuel meter and the attender
Ppl are being fooled on daily basis
Check meter readings & keep an eye on it
Pays cash or via a Visa and waits to collect change
Checks the fuel indicator post filling & leaves
5-min ACTIVITY CHART BASED ON USER RESEARCH
Reach petrol stn Wait, turn off, remove keys
Open lid and ask for the amt of petrol to be filled
PROBLEM AREAS Customers are cheated or fooled during one of the above situations either by distracting them or by involving them in between something like que, payments, card swipes etc
USER RESEARCH DAILY COMMUTERS
CORPORATE PEOPLE
TAXI / CAB DRIVERS
TRUCK DRIVERS
EVER BEEN CHEATED? ANY INCIDENTS?
• Might have • Started without asking • Started halfway through
• Involves in a conversation • Filled less amount, got to know after travelling 10kms
• Never cheated • Asked for 1000, he filled for 700. No. 7 resembled as 1
HOW DO YOU VALIDATE?
• Petrol Meter @ Petrol Stn • Vehicle Fuel Indicator • Blinker light notification
• Vehicle Mileage (Post Usage Val) • Based on daily route • Peep in the tank
• Using a stick • Based on daily route (kms) • Least bothered or Trustworthy Stns
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
• A Validator at our end • In-built billing system • Shows total amount filled
• Vehicle manufacturers should incorporate such feature • Not required
• A system which gives the user 100% assurity of the amount he filled
WHEN ASKED
IDEATION AND CONCEPTUALIZATION
Standalone Device
Newly Designed Speedometer
Smartphone App
Integration with Car Music Systems
A dedicated device which communicates with your petrol tank thus helping in easy & quick validation at your end.
This new intervention should incorporate: - Numerical Digital Display (instead of a digital bar meter) - Total tank capacity - Amount of fuel remaining - Current intake of fuel (if any) - Distance remaining fuel wil travel based on mileage of bike.
Why a smartphone app? It’s cheap, easily available & could incorporate features like, Organiser (Track of fuel logs, mileage, distance that can be covered in the available petrol), Navigation(GPS Navigation to nearest petrol station), Quantity of petrol required to reach that petrol station, Expense tracker(Weekly/Monthly Expense tracker)
Since it is a 5min interaction, dedicated device doesnt makes sense. Mobile phones are hazardous to be used at petrol stations. (Information is printed in phone manuals). Music System is an accessory which incorporates multiple features such as Audio/Video playback, SD Card / USB / AUX, Navigation, Camera (Rear View), Bluetooth, Image Slideshows
FUELIDATOR : FUEL VALIDATOR HOW IT WORKS?
You reach at the fuel station
Turn off the engine
The Fuelidator app loads on the music player screen automatically as soon as the lever (to open the fuel tank lid) is pressed and it starts calculating the amount of fuel present in the tank instantly. Once the fuel attender starts refilling the tank, the fuelidator app senses incoming fuel, calculates the quantity in real time and displays it on the screen. Once the lid is closed, the screen will display the exit buttons, thus allowing the end-users access to the music player.
Press the lever under the seat to open the fuel tank lid
The Fuelidator app gets activated (based on the sensor at the lid which detects the opening)
DESIGNING THE USER INTERFACE
FONT FACE : SEGOE UI Segoe UI has been used in Windows 8 OS and has good typography & large text which catches the eye SCREEN DIMENSIONS JVC player screen has been taken as a base platform to design the User Interface for the fuelidator app

DESIGN BRIEF To design a minimalistic motorcycle for urban commuting (urban youth daily commuters) who cover a short distance on daily basis
COURSE DETAILS Name: Technically Complex Project Duration: 4 weeks
RESEARCH HISTORY OF MOTORCYCLES IN INDIA The history of the motorcycles in India dates back to the year 1955, when the Government of India required strong, rough, and tough motorcycles for the Indian Army and the police force in the western part of the country which had a rough and craggy terrain. ROYAL ENFIELD’S 350cc Motorcycle for Indian Army The 350 cc ‘Bullet’ manufactured by the Royal Enfield Company of UK was the 1st batch of motorcycles in India. These motorcycles were put together in Chennai. This was the beginning for the Indian two-wheelers industry. THE 90’s The motorcycle had become one of the most popular modes of transportation, and is preferred by the daily commuters. The segment of motorcycles in India went through a tremendous change in the 90s and below were some of the reasons,

of
Fuel-efficient 4-Stroke Engine
Sales increased & constituted 81.5% of 2-wheeler market in India
Companies are looking forward for innovations in safety, user-friendly, aesthetics & ergonomics
RESEARCH : MARKET & SEGMENT STUDY
Market Study A market study was done w.r.t. motorcycles having an engine capacity less than 100cc, as these motorcycles could be termed under the category of minimalistic engine. An engine below 100cc is sufficient enough for better mileage & performance while commuting or roaming around for a short distance and these motorcycles are available at a better price point.

UNDERSTANDING MINIMALISM
Bicycles have a minimal frame Diamond frame
Use of trusses to make the frames lighter without disrupting its strength. Triangles are the strongest geometric shape
CONCEPT IDEA :
Every motorcycle constitutes one of the most important part, the ‘CHASSIS’. The chassis is designed to sustain & distribute the on going load on the motorcyle. The idea here was to design the chassis of the motorcyle in such away that it becomes a part of its aesthetics thus removing add-ons and making it MINIMAL.
IDEATION & CONCEPTUALIZATION CONCEPT THEME : ILLUSION Side view : The frame is designed in such a way that there is just a thin strip of metal flowing through out and when you see it from far, only the mass objects like the tank, tyres, engine, shocks etc are visible.
CONCEPT ONE : SYMMETRIC
Perspective : The side view annoys while the rider view gives you the actual feel of the mass & strength that it holds. CONCEPT TWO : ASYMMETRIC

CUBE IT A SMARTER WAY TO CUBE SINGLE ICE BLOCK
DESIGN BRIEF To redesign manually operated ice factory operations such that we increase its efficiency by combining tasks & reduce physical stress involved in ice making
COURSE DETAILS Name: Special Needs
Duration: 4 weeks
RESEARCH ICE MAKING HISTORY In India, ice was imported from the Himalayas in the 17th century. Porous clay pots containing boiled, cooled water were laid out on top of straw in shallow trenches under favourable circumstances, thin ice would form on the surface during winter nights which could be harvested and combined for sale. Production sites were at Hugli-Chuchura and Allahabad, but this “hoogly ice was only available in limited amounts and was of poor quality bcz, it often resembled soft slush rather than hard crystals. CURRENT ICE MAKING PROCESS
