about I am a St. Louis, Missouri native and am constantly looking for new ways to explore the world around me. I am an aspiring landscape architect made of many different things. I am an artist, a traveler, a reader, and a thrill-seeker. I have a background in painting, which informs many of my designs. I hope to bring color and life into memorable spaces through vibrant design. I aspire to always be creative, innovative, and curious.

first christian church Location: Manhattan, KS Focus: Planting Design and Construction Documents Completed: Fall 2014 First Christian Church of Manhattan, KS is located on a site in GrandMere Development with approximately 60 feet of grade change on rocky terrain. This presented many challenges when creating a planting palette and even more when developing construction documents, grading plans, and earthwork diagrams. Construction documents for this project included a grading plan, layout and dimensioning plan, earthwork diagram, end area earthwork sections, irrigation plan, and construction details.

Location: St. Louis, MO Focus: Strategies & Problem Solving Completed: Summer 2015 Collaborators: Community Planning and Design Studio As a member of the “Strategies for Vacant Parcels” team within the Parcels and Peppers Studio,, I learned valuable skills about abstract thinking and problem solving as well as how to address issues within a sensitive cultural setting. The goal of this project was to come up with as many design solutions as possible in order to solve the issue of vacancy within the City of St. Louis as well as map critical problems the city is facing.

epa rainworks challenge Location: Manhattan, KS Focus: Stormwater Management Completed: Fall 2014 Collaborators: Grant Brady, Sarah Jackman, Tyler Swehla, Emily Mesker “The Wallow is a system of ponding areas desinged to capture and reintroduce stormwater runoff from a parking lot on campus. The Wallow infiltrates runoff back into the ecosystem by using a baffle box to remove sediment and regulate water flow into a series of ponding areas on-site.

jetmore city park: Wildflower walk Location: Jetmore, Kansas Focus: Park Design and Community Outreach Completed: Spring 2014 Collaborators: Katelyn Rose Jetmore City Park is located in the town of Jetmore in Western Kansas. This project was done as a partnership between the studio and the citizens of Jetmore, who provided feedback on designs and expressed concern for what they would like to see in their park. Wildflower Walk embodies what the citizens of Jetmore envisioned for their town, with playing fields, gathering spaces, a shaded playground, and native plantings to add color to the landscape.

land art: golden slope Location: Manhattan, Kansas Completed: Fall 2013 Collaborators: Katelyn Rose, Kelsey Steward The goal of this art installation was to capture emotive quality within the landscape and observing the lifespan of natural plant materials. Golden Slope is comprised of branches, grasses, and goldenrods. It was observed over time, and several art pieces including sketches, drawings, and prints were based on its decomposition back into the surrounding landscape.

bartlett and west Firm: Bartlett & West Engineers Location: Lawrence, KS Internship Length: 10 Weeks, completed Summer 2014 Programs used: InDesign, Photoshop, SketchUp, Lumion, Civil3D While at Bartlett & West, I gained valuable experience about what it is like to work in a professional setting alongside landscape architects and civil engineers. Working in an extremely small landscape architecture department allowed me to develop confidence in my skills and work on a wide variety of projects including creating an extensive 3D model of the Cowley County Community College facilities master plan in SketchUp as well as learn new programs such as Lumion.
