CLASH This design required me to employ the g e s t u r e s, s h a p e s, a n d r u l e s e t s f r o m a self-designed context model into a tower design. Unique circulation t e c h n i q u e s, s k i n a p p l i c at i o n s, a n d prog ram placements were explored throughout the course of this project.

[ R ] E VO LV E [ R ] E VO LV E w a s a p r o j e c t i n w h i c h I designed an area occupying 2,000 square feet on the wester n side of the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s Arcthitecture Hall. The space was to act as an area for students to t a ke b r e a k s. M y d e s i g n fo c u s e s o n fle xibility and customization to create e i t h e r p r i vat e o r p u bl i c s p a c e s. T h e design consists of rotating modules t o c r e a t e s u c h s p a c e s . Va r i o u s r o t a t i o n mechanisms were studied in order to m a ke t h i s d e s i g n p o s s i bl e. B y m a k i n g the design changeable, students can relax they way they want, not letting a r c h i t e c t u r e l i m i t t h e i r s p at i a l w a n t s.

MASS CUSTOMIZED L O N G B OA R D S A l o n g s i d e B r i a n K e l l y, A s s o c i a t e Professor of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I am designing an open source system t o c r e at e c u s t o m l o n g b o a r d s. T h e goal behind this research is to better understand user-authored content and how it might one day lend itself to architecture. Iter ations are gener ated utilizing a Grasshopper script and are then CNC milled from ver tical laminated recycled hardwood. This research proposes user engagement while offering shared authorship b e t w e e n t h e d e s i g n e r a n d t h e u s e r. Viewing the longboard as a microcosm of architecture due to its specified performance and composition, this research is moving into the design of mass-customized architectural proposals offering shared ownership opportunities within the design p r o c e s s.
