GLASS MODELING with different techniques by : ABRAHAM CASTILLA

The goal of this tutorial is to learn different techniques to model in Blender, for it will model a glass in various ways using different tools in each case ... thus not only learn the versatility of Blender to model but also the effectiveness of each of these techniques and their possible application in other cases.

Note: This tutorial is based on version 2.56 of Blender.

Beizer

We add a curve Beizer: (Add> Beizer> Curve)

note: press can We ” ton “2D the but t c e j b “O buttons o r p the data” in , l e n a p perties a u s i r v to bette f o e p sha lize the s. the glas

curve modeling and

We enter in Edit mode: (Tab.)

Screw

modifier

Subdivided as many times as you want to add control points to the curve (subdivided button in the toolbox of Curve Tools ... This appears or disappears with the “T” key.)

Add the Screw modifier modifiers list properties panel, select the appropriate axis in “Axis” and ensure that “Angle” has 360.

We design the profile of the glass to our taste using control points (“G” = translate) Then we return to object mode (Tab.)

“Steps” is the number of meridians, the more you have better definition. “Render Steps” are those that appear to render time.

Modeling

with modifier

SubdivisionSurface

Add the modifier “SubdivisionSurface” to default cube: (Properties> Modifiers> Add modifiers> SubdivisioSurface.) Upload slippers “View” and “Render” to 3

We enter edit mode (Tab) and put the buttons on the Header of the 3D window in selection by faces and axe active 3D in translate mode.

Using the manipulator and using the “S” and “E” modeled the glass following the steps ... S = Scale E = Extrude

With the “Z” alternate between Solid and Wireframe views. In Wireframe view can visualize the inside of the glass to fit.

Modeling

with

Nurbs

sphere

we add a Nurbs sphere (Add> Surface> NURBS Sphere) We enter in edit mode (Tab) and select the bottom half of the control points (“B” = selection area.) Press the button panel Subdivide tool (“T” = appears and disappears tool pane).

Deselect all control points (“A” = select or deselect all) and select the two loops of control points that are at the center of the sphere ...

...press the button again .. Subdivide tools panel and select four subdivisions in the slider that appears below us.

From here we begin to shape the glass by selecting loops area checkpoints and climbing them with the letter “S” while we use the 3D manipulator to position to your liking.

Modeling

Path (taper and bevel object) and Solidify modifier with

We added three curves: a Path, a Bezier, a Circle ...

We climbed the Path to have the same distance as the Curve with the “S”.

With Path selected introduce the Object Data panel in the Geometry tab: Taper Object in box the name of Beizer Curve and the Bevel Object of the Circle. After select the Beizer Curve and go to edit mode (Tab .)

Using the control points, the profile design of the cup bearing in mind that this will be the interior there of. “G” = move We return to the way oject (tab)

In the tool pane (“T”) Subdivide press the button and put the slider that appears to us 4.

Select the Path and add the Solidify modifier: (Propierties> Modifiers> Add Modifier> Solidify) Offset slider to adjust the 1000 and give the thickness we want with Thickness always negative ...
