Abril Serrano Design Fundamentals 1-AAID 101 Fall 2021 Professor Johana Monroy

TABLE OF CONTENTS 01 Elements pg 2-9 Learning vocabulary of which means space and structure. Learning to put these words into solids developing it into a site.

02 Enclosure pg 10-17 Learning how the body takes up space and bringing the idea into the elements made. Making enclosures and spaces to bring out the site.

03 Passage pg 18-24 Creating circulation vertically to spaces created. A detailed view of the finalize site through each of its concepts.

DOVETAIL JOINT

• named dovetail because of its resemblance to the fanlike shape of a tail of a dove. • it’s Japanese name is “ant joint” because it resembles a pinched body of an ant. • Pin must be dropped into the socket because it must stay open all the time • A type of dovetail called houses dovetail joint would solve their problem. • Great usage in cabinets and other furniture to stand heavy loads. In construction it’s suitable for temporary framing only.

Here each part expanding in size from smallest to biggest with its components also rotating in 90 degree. The components also have a rhythm in which each have overlap.

COMPONENTS OF MODEL (CHOREOGRAPHY/OUT OF JOINT) The choreography shows the real made model coming apart showing the base of the medel. This also hlep to umderstand the composition of the model.

The out of joint system brings more openess to site and takes the model out of the restriction of 9x9x9 cube.Taking into idea what areas people can occupy.

Here we see the site break out of the cube that it has originated from. Now as shown in the previous page the model tends to break the cube and joints to be able to let people within the site.

Here is the model of what the resting space would look like. It has an opening on the top and area where they can get up and sit there as well.

This second body sequence shows a resting position where they lay down and then get back up. This sequence is looking upwards. BODY SEQUENCES
