ONCOLOGY NEWS THE LATEST UPDATE FROM THE CERNER ONCOLOGY TEAM EDITION 3

Q2 2015
SCCA GOES LIVE WITH POWERCHART ONCOLOGY Earlier this spring the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance “A world class cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutch, UW Medicine, and Seattle Children’s” turned on PowerChart oncology. SCCA’s 150+ providers went live with over 800 chemotherapy treatment plans. Ordering nearly 2,000 chemotherapy plans a month, SCCA has shown a successful implementation for a large cancer facility. The partnership of SCCA, University of Washington, and Cerner has taken patient’s
chemotherapy from paper charts to an integrated system that allows physicians to order chemotherapy, labs, radiology, and scheduling with a couple button clicks. Those orders are seen in all venues within the University of Washington. Congratulations to the team at SCCA.

CERNER ONCOLOGY IN THE MIDDLE EAST In February the oncologists at National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) in Hamad Medical Corporate (HAMC) in Qatar were able to place different types of chemotherapy PowerPlans (Electronic Protocols) at different patients settings, in Physicians’ offices and clinics at OPD, inpatients wards, Chemotherapy Day Care and Urgent Care. A lot of oncology clinicians are now able to log in with their user positions to utilize different functionalities of accessing an Oncology specific patient Summary mPage, Oncology specific Flowsheet, Febrile Neutropenia mPage, Oncology Timeline mPage and an interactive cancer staging component, on top of all the Other PowerChart functionalities.
They have been able to fully integrate with ERM/ESM, Laboratory and Charge Services throw different customized workflows that were designed and built to meet NCCCR special and unique requirements for this Specialized facility in Qatar. Patients now are no longer holding their treatment schedule cards, appointment slips for different days of treatment, or even their take home medications prescriptions. Patient’s journey from Physicians clinics to Chemotherapy Day care down to hospital gateway is becoming more efficient and more smooth.
