Bennett Cole Gassen Bennett is a baby of many firsts! Not only is he our first baby selected from the “Women’s Health Next Top Baby Model” contest, but he is also the first baby born at Truman Lakewood under the Cerner Maternity program!

European Collaboration Forum Even with London’s Underground on strike for two of the three days, more than 300 clients and prospects came together in early February for the European Collabora on Forum. It was an opportunity for networking, open dialogue, educa on and discovering ways in which technology can not only aide the health care provider, but provide safe and effec ve pa ent care. A endees from the United Kingdom, France and Spain were eager to understand Cerner’s approach for Women’s Health. Many par cipated in a working session with PowerChart Maternity strategist, Emily Vano, in which the Partogram was the main focus. Design was discussed as well as ways in which to be er the tool in hopes of strengthening this unique prac ce. Many thanks to all who par cipated, shared stories and gave great feedback!

Bennett’s mom, Danelle, is a

Did You Know Quick Pick Option—Vital Signs Reviewed by Nurse FetaLink offers the ability to annotate directly on the fetal strip using a combina on of quick pick op ons and free text. These annota ons support the ability to quickly document things that are done at a moment in me, such as interven ons or ac ons related to informa on on the fetal strip. Although FetaLink comes with a list of fi een default quick pick annota ons, clients may choose to customize those as they see fit. Because of the frequent nature of maternal vital signs that are captured by the fetal monitor device during labor, we encourage clients to consider adding a quick pick op on to their annota ons which states: “Vital signs reviewed by nurse.” This allows the nurse to quickly document that she has reviewed the vital signs that are being automa cally captured by the device at intervals. Follow your organiza ons policies and procedures to determine how o en vital signs should be reviewed by a clinician to guide the frequency for documen ng this annotaon. For further details on designing your FetaLink quick pick op ons, please see: Design FetaLink Annota ons reference page.

Please refer to Priority Review Flash PR13-0083-0 for additional details.

Also note Microsoft will be ending support of Windows XP on April 8, 2014. Click here for further details.

FAQ Summary of Care Document The Visit Summary (Summary of Care) is an MPages view designed to help meet the Meaningful Use Clinical Summary Objec ve of: "50% of office visits during the EHR repor ng period have clinical summary provided within 1 business day." The Visit Summary MPages view provides the capability to generate a Visit Summary CDA (Clinical Document Architecture), supports basic edi ng of the data returned, and stores the edited CDA back in Mul MediaManager using the CDG (Clinical Document Generator) template that is client configured at the default or facility level. An MPages view is used rather than the Depart Process to allow for the edi ng and storing of a structured CDA content, which the depart tokens do not currently support. The ini al Visit Summary release supports the ability to launch the Clinical Summary as a tab in PowerChart or the task sec on in the Ambulatory Organizer MPages view. The Ambulatory Organizer also supports the ability to launch to a PowerForm to record that the pa ent has declined a summary, which is used in Meaningful Use repor ng. Recommended use and configura on instruc ons can be found on the following reference page: All About Visit Summary

Dynamic Groups and PowerForms PowerForms do not have the Dynamic Group func onality built into them. If you place a dynamic group DTA inside a PowerForm, it will disable the DTA in IView. Cerner’s recommenda on is to use Dynamic Group DTA’s only in IView. If you document Dynamic Group DTA’s in the PowerForm, the system will not know what baby to “write” the documenta on to, hence the reason why our Dynamic Group DTA of “Baby” lives in IView.

Maintaining Industry Awareness Trisomy Awareness Month During Trisomy Awareness Month, the NICHD joins other agencies and organizations in raising awareness about trisomy conditions and the challenges they may pose to individuals and families. The three most common autosomal trisomies are trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edward’s syndrome), and trisomy 21 (Down’s syndrome). ‘Staches and Snatches for Variety Charities of Kansas City Over the last 10+ years, the month of November has become an opportunity for men to ditch their razors in hopes of raising awareness for causes such as the Movember founda on which supports Men's specific cancers (fi ng as it follows October which many recognize as na onal Breast Cancer Awareness month). In this spirit, Kaisha Weldy, our Client Service Manager, along with a number of her community members and her local gym, CrossFit Establish, decided to take the opportunity one step further and raise money for a celebrated not-for-profit organiza on right here in Kansas City. The men of Establish spent the whole month growing out their beards/goatees/ mustaches, and the ladies of Establish had a shared sacrifice of having to look at their significant others for the whole month while they grew it out. Variety Chari es of Greater Kansas City celebrated their 80th year as a volunteer-based organiza on that provides local children with special needs the adap ve equipment and opportunity necessary for ac vity and inclusion. Their group pledged to raise enough money ($3600) to build an adap ve bicycle for one of the children supported by Variety Chari es.

Many of their par cipants, family and friends gathered on the 30th of November at CrossFit Establish to celebrate their donors and money raised and competed in their first annual, 'Staches and Snatches. Par cipants who have raised awareness and money for Variety were put to the test as each dollar that has been donated will amount to the equivalent of 10lbs that needs to be Snatched by the group as a whole. (The Snatch is one of the two Olympic li s that involves li ing a barbell from the ground to locked arms overhead in a smooth con nuous movement.) The final tally far exceeded their original goal. They raised $6849.88, allowing them to purchase two adap ve bicycles for two amazing kids. On January 26th, they were able to have a celebra on and present these two bicycles to two very deserving li le boys; Jackson, age 11, who has a disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis and Joseph, age 7, who has Trisomy of his 7th chromosome and Monosomy of his 3rd chromosome. Watch the video of the presenta on. For more informa on on Variety, please check out their website at h p:// varietykc.org/
