Being able to ensure that the correct bottle of expressed milk is given to the correct baby at the time of feeding is the intent of every NICU/nursery nurse. Cerner’s Breast Milk Management solution offers this positive patient identification starting with printed labels for containers at the time of collection to the time the bottle is administered. Both mother’s milk and donor milk are supported within the solution, as well as the ability to document any additives or a combination of products. The Breast Milk Management solution enables the nurse to document tracked, stored, and thawed milk as well as review expirations dates. The solution comes with valuable reports such as: Bottles Administered, Breast Milk Barcode Compliance, Breast Milk Errors, Donor Breast Milk Log, Expired Bottles, and Patient Donor Bottles. "Since implementing bar code scanning of breast milk, we have zero reported errors in feeding wrong mothers' milk to a baby," said Donna Miranda, RN, MSN, Manager of Point of Care Application Support (POCAS) Team at Sharp HealthCare. "Our staff values the safety and ease of use of Cerner Bridge. Barcoding safety is not about saving time. It is about patient safety, positive patient product (breast milk) in real time when the tasks are performed."

Scanning all patients and each bottle of milk each time prior to administrating the feeding
Increased time to complete breast milk preparation process, particularly during the first few weeks as nurses become proficient in new scanning processes
Increased sense of security in identifying and avoiding a critical administration error - wrong milk to the wrong patient
Immediate documentation in eMAR of the administration following the scanning and signing process

All About Fetal Well-Being Report Purpose Fetal well-being tes ng u lizes fetal monitoring and requires collabora on between the antepartum tes ng nurse and the OB provider. The OB Fetal Well-Being PowerNote supports this workflow by offering structured clinical documenta on that is easily shared between the nurse and the provider. The OB Fetal Well-Being PowerNote can be ini ated by the antepartum tes ng nurse to capture the results of the test, and then routed to the OB Provider Message Center for review and endorsement. Timely review and endorsement of antepartum test results is essen al to ensure comple on of the pa ent’s plan of care. The Fetal Well-Being Report is intended to iden fy those PowerNotes that have been ini ated and requested for endorsement by the nurse but have not yet been signed by the OB provider. The Fetal Well-Being Report can be used by the antepartum tes ng nurse to iden fy test results that are s ll in a pending status, so that addi onal measures can be taken to ensure review by the OB provider. The Fetal Well-Being Report can also be u lized as a way to evaluate compliance for quality improvement purposes. Note Qualifica on The Fetal Well-Being Report retrieves all Fetal Well-Being notes that are in either a signature REQUEST or COMPLETED status. The report queries all notes with an ac on type of SIGN and ac on status of REQUEST or COMPLETE. All notes with an ac on status of REQUEST is considered Unauthen cated and all notes that have an ac on status of COMPLETE is considered Authen cated. There are seven user prompts: 1. Start Date 2.
