ARM Based Vehicle Tracking System Motor vehicle theft is the criminal act of stealing or attempting to steal a motor vehicle. Nationwide in the US in 2005, there were an estimated 1.2 million motor vehicle thefts, or approximately 416.7 motor vehicles stolen for every 100,000 inhabitants. Property losses due to motor vehicle theft in 2005 were estimated at $7.6 billion.
Methods of Theft # Theft of an unattended vehicle without key(s): The removal of a parked vehicle either by breaking and entry, followed by hotwiring or other tampering methods to start the vehicle, or else towing.
# Theft with access to keys: Known in some places as "Taken Without Owner's Consent (TWOC)". The unauthorized use of a vehicle in which the owner has allowed the driver to have possession of or easy access to the keys. Often, this is the adolescent or grown child or employee of the vehicle's owner, who, at other times, may be authorized to use the vehicle. If we design a product which will be at the bottom of the car(suppose near alternator or like somewhere) . When vehicle is stolen owner will initiate a system through his mobile by sending a message and as system gets activated, it will continuously send message to POLICE and to an owner with the gap of 1 minute and Message format is given below [Vehicle Is Stolen <OWNER_NAME> Vehicle No.<VNO> Vehicle Name n Manufacturer<NAME_MANU> Colour <CAR_COLOUR> GPS Location<GPS_LOCATION> Owner No.<OWNER_NO>] Using these details we can track a vehicle with the help of police and both will be properly informed about geo location. If we use ARM Controller with this system then this system will be more efficient to perform multiple tasks with no trouble so we decided to use ARM7 controller with this system. Advantages: 1. We can track thief until reach his residence. 2. Police receives exact information about robbery and geolocation of a vehicle. Disadvantages: 1. If thief moves vehicle to country side where network is not reachable then system fails to send or receive messages.
