Reality-Based Law Enforcement Training, Continuing Education

Reality-based training, available to sworn officers, provides real-time, high intensity scenarios to develop or enhance split-second reactions. The 3-day class includes instruction, practical drills and immediate feedback and reaction revision. LEO ConEd also offers other free training for sworn officers in law enforcement, detention, corrections, and probation & parole. Training is scheduled on a demand basis in topics such as radar, rapid deployment, narcotics, firearms, defensive tactics, officer safety, radar, non-lethal weapons, etc. To request specific topics, register or get more information contact the LEO Con Ed Coordinator at 828-782-2319 or email LEOConEd@abtech.edu

Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET)

Basic Law Enforcement offers free training for sworn law enforcement officers, certified detention officers, certified correctional officers and probation and parole officers. Training is regularly scheduled in topics such as narcotics, firearms, defensive tactics, officer safety, radar, non-lethal weapons, investigations, rapid deployment and counter terrorism, in addition to:

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

The AEMT course is a comprehensive program consisting of lab, clinical and field components in addition to classroom time. It builds upon the basic knowledge and enables the individual to provide limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for emergent and critical patients. AEMTs perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. Successful completion of this state-approved AEMT course will qualify the student to sit for the NCOEMS AEMT exam. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Re-cert (One-Day)

PALS Re-cert is a one day classroom, video-based instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcome. PALS Course is offered through out the year periodically. Emergency Medical Technician-Initial (EMT) Madison Campus

This course provides the foundation knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and transport patients ranging from non-emergent and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Successful completion of this state-approved EMT course will qualify the student to sit for the NCOEMS EMT state exam. ACLS/PALS Instructor Course (One-Day)

ACLS/PALS Instructor Class helps prepare teacher candidates in course preparation, effective teaching mechanics, policies and procedures of American Heart ACLS/PALS Courses. Prior to class registration, the candidate must be affiliated with American Heart Training Center.
