This class is designed and structured for beginning students and will introduce the basic techniques involved in throwing on the potter's wheel through class demonstrations and hands-on experience. All students will begin with simple forms to learn the basic skills of centering, pulling, and trimming. Glazing and firing procedures will also be covered. Bring a towel, apron and a small notebook to the first class. Wear suitable clothes for working with clay. Beginning students only! The toolkit fee of $15 is payable at the first class. The lab fee includes one bag of clay, glazes, and firing. Pottery - Advanced Beginner's Wheel
This class is structured for students who have taken at least two beginning wheel classes. You will explore more advanced techniques and projects while perfecting your throwing skills. You will continue to have weekly demonstrations of each week's project. Bring a towel, apron and a small notebook to the first class. Wear suitable clothes for working with clay. Pottery - Handbuilding Functional Kitchenware
In this kitchenware class you will hand-build functional kitchenware pieces like mugs, tumblers, vases, sugar and creamer sets, etc. You will explore handbuilding techniques that allows you to create artistic forms without using a throwing wheel. Pottery - Handbuilding Coil and Texture Pots
In this handbuilding class you will make coil built vessels of all shapes, practice making texture plates as building blocks for a piece, use coils and other textures to create images and landscapes in pots, and use ancient techniques to shape pots with paddles and burnish them with smooth stones. This class is appropriate for all skill levels. The lab fee includes one bag of clay, glazes, and firing.
