Our Newest Partner, TransTech

A-B Tech is excited to announce that we have partnered with TransTech to offer Truck Driver Training: Commercial Drivers License (CDL) for our community. The need for this program became evident in the number of student applications the college covered through our ARC Grant last year, along with the number of job openings throughout the region. We have all felt the impact of the supply chain disruption on our lives this last year, in part due to lack of truck drivers.

TransTech has called North Carolina “home” since 1978. It estimates tha the transportation industry has never been busier, and the need for more drivers has never been higher. Per new data from the American Trucking Administration, 160,000 new drivers are needed by 2030. Current average annual pay for new drivers ranges from $58,000 to $72,000.

A-B Tech and TransTech will offer daytime, evening, and weekend instruction in the Asheville/ Fletcher area. With a low instructor-to-student ratio, enrolled students will obtain all the knowledge and necessary skills for a rewarding and successful career as a professional driver. The company also has a job placement feature in partnership with national carriers so students will have multiple options for local or long-haul driving.
