The Best Sailors. The Fastest Boats.

In addition to being the oldest trophy in international sport, the America’s Cup is, by a considerable margin, also the toughest to win. Consider that over its 160-year history, only four different nations

a new era

have captured the Cup. The America’s Cup is unique and holds a prestige, style and cachet that is impossible to duplicate. Today the America’s Cup is at the dawn of a new era. An exciting new vision has been established for the next America’s Cup – the best sailors, racing the fastest boats. A new professional global circuit, the America’s Cup World Series (AC World Series) features the sport’s best athletes competing on some of the most physically demanding boats in the world - the AC45 wing-sailed catamarans. Sailing the AC45, the athletes will be tested through both fleet and match races that put a premium on physical and mental strength. In November 2011, America’s Cup sailing will return to the USA after a 15-year absence. Adding a new and exciting chapter to its storied history with America’s Cup, San Diego will see a very different America’s Cup experience, with racing held just feet offshore, live inside San Diego Harbor in front of thousands of spectators.
