na-ma architecture na-ma architecture is a small office focussed on urban studies, interior, public buildings and exhibitions. Momentary the office is working on research about possibilities for temporal use of urban space. This research done within a temporary collaboration between na-ma architecture and Tom Bergevoet architecture. They research the possibilities about left overs of space and deserted spaces how to use those on temporary base without harming them. When such initiative will be placed it creates a temporary boost of initiatives and has the possibility to move away to another location easily.
Project Research temporary use of public space For the area Amsterdam we are investigating the possibilites of temporal use how it can be implemented. I have been working on ideas, concepts, present examples, visions, possibilities and tools.
Project Design for football court For the commision of sport in Amsterdam we have been asked to design a football court with the aim to integrate community with football. It will be a design at the same scale as Johan Cruyff court but with integration possibilities for the surrounding. A design which generates a new and improved connection between different ages and users.

Project Cityvision for Rome To implement the idea of temporal use of public space we participated a competition called cityvision for Rome. The idea was to create a vision for the citycentre of Rome for the future how to deal with the historical character of it and to which direction it might should go. The idea na-ma developed was to create temporal bubbles in different parts of the city. We defined for five types of context ideas how these bubbles can be used.
A. Forum Romanum B. Forrests around Rome C. River Tiber D. Historical part from the Renaissence period E. Roman wall F. Modern and contemporary parts of Rome //12
Olympic Stadium Amsterdam For the coming events the manucipality of Amsterdam decided to offer two stadiums to renovate. Beside the wellknown Amsterdam Arena the wanted to offer as well the Olympic Stadium at Stadionweg in Amsterdam Zuid. The idea for the stadium that it would be used for three tournaments. For each event the stadium would increase in capacity and stick on the need of the statium. The idea behind the design is that we would design temporary light tribunes which would be placed fixed on the need of capacity. For the first event World Championship Atletics, the will use 5 triubunes, for the second event World Championship Football the would use triubes so we would increase the capacity to 55000 seats. And for the last event we would use all the tribunes to have a capacity of 80000 seats. But after finishing the last event the tribunes could be easily removed to be used somewhere else.

activities: - architect - project manager - working on researches - design projects
Researchlab for Utrecht is founded in the start of October 2009. It was notated as LAB01. With this lab we participated the researchproject of Atelier Rijksbouwmeester. This initiative gives an oppurtunity for architects to cooporate temporarily within a group of fellow redundant architects. Architects who want to continue exploring new possibilities for architecture and urbanism issues of nowadays. With the aim of developing experiments and researches for issues of which most of the offices don’t have the occasion for it . Our projectarea is the Jaarbeursterrein in Utrecht connected with the central station. Our goal was to research the possibilities to develop this area. We started with a bottom-up approach to gain data by making analyses of the area. With this data we developed four models for the area which might possible to use it. After analysing the possiblities of using these four models we eventually developed two types of scenario which eventually extended into six scenarios. Six scenarios which are seeking the extremes within themself. Extremes to extract questions and possibilities what if the scenario will be used.

Le rouge voulĂŠaca09architecture Paris, France 2009 activities: -
architect project manager design visualisations
Temptation, history and entertainment are the keywords of the Moulin Rouge which was used to be. The new Moulin Rouge will contain these elements even more and better. Both during day and night. The design for the new Moulin Rouge and dance school is based on to work each other, physically and mentally. There will be a scenario for during the day and one for the night. Day scenario is based on the secret, history and temptation of the building by telling the story of the Moulin Rouge of the past with a route right through the building. You will see the history of the dancers, the rise of the Moulin Rouge through time till now by taking the loop up towards the roof. Meanwhile people will catch a blimp of the dancers of today to catch the feeling of real heart of the Moulin Rouge. Past and present of the Moulin Rouge will meet each other here. During night the original windmill of the past will show up behind the curtain of today to attract people to come to this place to experience the entertainment the Moulin Rouge can offer. From far the Moulin Rouge will be seen by the light the building will shine.. When you enter the building you will be gently guide to the auditorium to experience the warmth, exotic and tempting world the Moulin Rouge will give. Welcome to the new Moulin Rouge!!! Extremes to extract questions and possibilities what if the scenario will be used.

This project for Studio Border Conditions is focused on the area of New York. The research started with a fascination you want to research about. Mine was the underground scene in New York. But instead of taking the contex of the underground scene in the art scene or music scene I took this literally by going underground, to the New York Subway stations.
g
In these areas happens streetperformances done by artists who are expressing their art to the public. Art expressions like dance, music or just entertainment performances. These performances are based on temporary time, unexpected and suprise and done on locations which are not really made to perform. But just because of these elements of suprise of these performances they are creating a transformation of space they are happening. My research is focussing on the architectural and sociological elements of these performances mainly what this transformation is and the effect on the area and on the people. For this project this research will be done by making mappings to be nally the base and inspiration for the development of a building.

h 1114 day 1 terminal space
// Guitar and violin performance situated on a platform at the Time Square Subway station
After analyzing different performances I decided to study one performance in detail. So I decided to study the performance of a guitar player with a violin player. I have been looking at the trajectories of the audience during the performance and how they went and added the factor time. By inserting this factor the route/trajectory of the audience became a path based on time where increasing and decreasing of speed was present. This increasing and decreasing of speed do I notate as ‘rhythm’.
// Trajectories and positions on platform of people during performance
// Domains of circulation versus domains of improvisation
// 3d mass model of the trajectories of people
//27
The rhythm of this performance I got by making an ‘mapping’ (analyze) of the audiences’ behavior during this performance. I notated their location, their trajectories and dierences between where they started and where they end, all during a certain period of 46 frames of 0.5 seconds. With this information I made a diagram of this information which ended up in a ‘structure’ of rhythms during time. This structure naly showed the basic structure for the design. This structure is notated as rhythm in time (transitions, increasing of speed, decreasing of speed) The structure which I finally got is a structure of peoples behavior disturbed by the performance and a structure of peoples behavior without any disturbing by the performance. After doing this I finally got a structure which shows the transformation of the space by the performance. Which I used for the design of the building. For developing the reasearch procudure towards had I chosen to use the structure for a function which expressed the riged structure of traveling and a function which contains the elements being the opposit of it.I ended up in the function of a ferryterminal which contains spaces for art. EXHIBTION VERSUS TERMINAL /// ExCiTé NY
// diagram / Peoples behavior disturbed by performance versus behavior which is not disturbed by performance
//28
The next step to continue with the diagrams I deformed the structure of the normal sequential development of a transition by the improvisation. The deformation is done on a grid system of the frames versus distance towards the performance. This grid represents this sequential development of the performance. With this deformation or deconstruction of the sequential development I gained three parameters. These parameters are three rhythms which are coming out of the interaction (the transformation of the space during the performance). For the final step I took these three rhythms and merged them into one diagram which shows an abstract interpretation of the transformation by the performance. I called this interpretation the diagram of rhythms of the performance.

The location for the building will be situated at the riverside of Long Island, Hunterspoint. The area of Hunterspoint is nowadays a deserted and desolated area where almost no development is. The area used to be a high industrial area where small but high industrial factories where operating. During time the area became more abandoned and need now aeconomical injection of new investments to grow and develop.
The mapping for the project is based on transitional flows gained from the research about the transitional versus improvised. To cope with this I will make a ferry terminal. The building will contain these transitional flows and is able to connect with the areas condition. The areas condition contains five interesting places to connect with the terminal and Manhattan. One place is the trainstation (1) which is ending in this area. The other is the leisure area of sport facilities with park (2). The third interesting place is upcoming economic centre (3). The fourth place is the Long Island highway (4) which is going here under the river. And the last place is huge deserted space of nothing but sand, grass and mud (5). These five places will be connected by the terminal with Manhattan to have a good intensive connection. A connection which can attract investments, visitors and tourists to this area.

The development from the structure towards the nal design of the terminal was based on certain steps. I made a diagram of the dierent rhythms of the structure and made him 3d. I implemented functions and tried to create a landscape / cityscape which provide the possibilities to use the terminal as it should be, (rigid / fast / no identity) by giving opportunities to improvise with art exhibitions (improvisition / delayed / identity based) on the terminal’ structure. The building is made of concrete which made the smoothness for the terminal disturbed by the exhibitionspaces.

Indesem 2007 was focused on the issue of the future. Mainly on what architects from nowadays will leave behind for the next generation.

To give answer to this question several students from all over the world were invited to embody this question and try to give an aswer. The results of this question would be presented on a collection of billboards during the First International Bienale of Rotterdam. The assignment was divided in several locations in Rotterdam. We had to make an image/ view for this location how this view would be over sixty years on that specific location. The group with the best vision would be published on the billboards. Our group won finally two locations based on the vision how we can deal with religion and the rise of the level of the river Maas.

museum IJburg Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 2006 activities: - design - research - visualisations
Amsterdam needed an museum on the island IJburg. So we designed a museum for both historian objects and contemporary art pieces. Our idea was to place the museum on a small piece of land to control the whole island. The musuem would work as a keeper of peace and nature. A museum not just to store but als to create the connection between the area and art. Within the museum itself we created a continous route which connected all of the art pieces together with sneakpeaks of the outdoor.. The museum will be a adventure to visit and a moment of peace to experience.

Museum IJburg is a building situated on the peniscula part of IJburg. The design for both the building and the interior is based on transition. Transition from the external into the internal part of the building. This transition start already with a ramp alongside the whole building. During this journey you seperate youself from the external and preparing yourself for the internal. Inside the building a route is set up along all the rooms and end up where you start. The collection of the museum was a given programme and is based on historical pieces of art and contemporary art. The collection is based on old Greek statues, Dutch paintings from the Golden Era and contemporary art like Giacometti. The design for the interior is based on connection and slightly transition between different eras where art is coming from without disturbing them.
