2021-2022:
Why We Give
DIANE (URSICH) CURIEL ‘72
“The OLP experience for young women cannot be imitated. It is unique in its emphasis on high quality study, meaningful acts of faith, and empowerment of women in all of their societal roles. That is why I have chosen to give back to OLP. Perhaps my small contribution will ensure that it’s unique place in the San Diego secondary education scene continues a little longer, and that a deserving young lady receives the support she needs for participation in such an outstanding educational experience.”
OLP Alumna, Diane (Ursich) Curiel ‘72, generously contributed the lead gift to begin The Heart of ‘72 Endowed Scholarship. In partnership with her classmates, Diane’s gift to The Heart of ‘72 Endowed Scholarship will provide opportunities for many Pilots into perpetuity and enable OLP to continue the tradition of delivering a worldclass CSJ education to deserving students.
THE PAYNE FAMILY
“It has been our pleasure to make a serious financial contribution. We feel through OLP, and its commitment to growth, both academically and physically, that the opportunities for [our] girls continue to keep pace with this ever diverse and expanding world.”
Zoraida and Gary Payne
Following the graduation of their two daughters from OLP, Gary and Zoraida Payne have generously invested in the holistic education for which OLP has become known. Inspired by their family’s commitment to the arts, the Payne family will be naming the Music Room in the St. Thérèse of Lisieux Library and Learning Center, which is set to open later this year.
NICOLE & TIM RAYNER
“When we saw the astounding vision for catapulting OLP into the future, for generations to come, there was no question that we had to be part of that future.”
Nicole Rayner is a dedicated OLP educator and graduate of St. Joseph Academy, a CSJ sister school. Nicole’s commitment to the Sister’s charism is evident in her style as a teacher and her generosity as both an annual donor to OLP and to the Boundless campaign.
The Class of 1972
gifted more than $40,000 to endowed scholarships
with heartfelt gratitude for your partnership
THE TUBAO FAMILY
“We felt pulled to contribute [to OLP] given the opportunities that OLP has provided our girls and we want to ensure that future generations of Pilots have access to the resources to help them reach their full potential.”
Anne-Marie and Joel Tubao, The Tubao Family
The Tubao family was one of the early investors in Boundless: The Campaign for OLP. Now, having had three Pilots graduate OLP, the Tubaos continue to invest in OLP through Joel’s service on the Board of Directors. The outdoor work space of the St. Thérèse of Lisieu Library and Learning Center, currently under construction, will be called the Tubao Terrace in honor of their generosity.
INVEST IN THE Future
OLP is the epicenter for young women’s education and empowerment, and strives to graduate responsible women committed to serving the needs of the world around them.
GIVE TODAY
MARY CARATAN SLOPER ’58
“The best way I can say ‘thank you’ for what I received is to ensure that OLP continues and another young woman receives the same opportunity.”
A graduate from the class of 1958, Mary (Caratan) Sloper has been long committed to the legacy of our CSJ Sisters. Following her graduation from Mt. Saint Mary’s and career as a nurse, Mary served nine years on OLP’s Board of Directors including a term as Board Chair. In partnership with a bequest gift from the estate of her mother, Sylvia Caratan, Mary and her husband Don have named the Student Commons which connects Shiley and Navarra Halls.
