54th Annual Spring Sing 2024: Big Cities

SAN DIEGO CIVIC THEATRE

Spring Sing

Welcome to Spring Sing 2024!

Grab your passport and pack your luggage as our OLP pilots embark on a global adventure to exotic locations. We are here tonight to enjoy the fine performances of our Senior, Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman classes who are celebrating the best cities in the world on our very own San Diego Civic Center stage. Fasten your seat belt as we are certainly in for a memorable travel experience to New Orleans, London, Las Vegas, and New York City. Be prepared for dazzling choreography and exceptional singing from our very own students who created and produced this entire production.

For many weeks, our students, in partnership with their Spring Sing moderators, created the travel itinerary that included numerous practices after school over the course of many weeks to put on a program that was truly representative of the high standards and expectations of an OLP Spring Sing. They braved the San Diego wet winter weather, poured countless hours into the show, and cheered each other on during rehearsals to ensure they were ready to share the innovation and creativity of their respective classes. Their collaboration truly exemplified our Christian values and the charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet as they came together in the spirit of unifying love to continue this time-honored tradition at OLP.

I am thankful for the entire OLP community for their unwavering support of our Spring Sing students. I appreciate the dedication of our administration, faculty, and staff for guiding our students’ efforts and providing them with the necessary resources to prepare for this show. I am grateful to our families for encouraging their daughters’ full participation in Spring Sing. You provided the transportation and carpooling needed for our performers to attend each and every practice. Your moral support and encouraging words inspired our students throughout the creative process. I am blessed that we have alumnae from near and far who are here tonight to cheer on their OLP sisters. Their presence is a testament to the enduring love they have for their alma mater.

Following tonight’s show, you will be able to write your very own travelog of New Orleans, London, Las Vegas, and New York City courtesy of our very own OLP pilots. You may be jet lagged at the end of the evening, but you will leave with beautiful travel memories that will last a lifetime.

Welcome Aboard and Get Ready for Take-Off!

WELCOME TO OUR 54 TH ANNUAL

Spirit of Sisetrhood

TRIBUTE PAGE MAGGIE HOLCOMB

A note from our Spirit of Sisterhood 2023 Recipient, Maggie Holcomb (Class of 2024), on what Spring Sing means to her…

Spring Sing: An annual musical competition between the classes. Or as I like to think of it: the entire school becomes theater kids for two months. I’ve had the unique opportunity to be a part of all aspects of Spring Sing: leadership, chorus, acting, and most recently stage management. No matter what my title is, my goal is always the same: to bring people together.

Sophomore year, with our cast facing three open roles and a fast approaching show, me and my fellow production managers, Jori and Jeanette, eagerly hopped into the spotlight to fill the vacancies. I can say for certain that I was stepping outside of my comfort zone, but as my class crowded each other and sang our finale song “I’ll Be There for You,” I knew they had my back. Spring Sing is more than just a competition between the classes. It’s the bringing together the whole school community to create something bigger than ourselves. Something we couldn’t create alone.

This year, I’m continuing my mission of bringing people together by piloting our first ever Spring Sing Design & Stage Management Team! This team brings together students from across all grade levels to work together on the greater Spring Sing show through Sound and Lighting Design, Stage Management, and Run Crew. I hope this team, and its founding goal of bringing people together continues long after my time at OLP. I hope you enjoy the show!

SINGING: Projection; pitch; enunciation

CHORUS PARTICIPATION:

COSTUMES: Actors’ costumes are creative and appropriate to character; dancers’costumes are creative and to character; chorus’ costumes are creative and appropriate to character; costumes portray cohesiveness

PROPS: Relevant to storyline; creative; use of props enhances story
