Founded and rooted in the Gospel values of the Catholic church and the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ), OLP empowers young women in an innovative learning environment that honors the individual while fostering community, and develops faith-filled leaders dedicated to the “love of God and the dear neighbor without distinction.”
OLP Pilots join a long legacy of prophetic women of bold love through the history of our Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ). When you come to OLP, you join a sisterhood focused on becoming women of faith, women of heart, women of courage and women of excellence for our world. We are so excited to have you!
Commitment to Unifying Love
Our community commitment to Unifying Love stems from our founding order, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ) and their charism of “Unifying Love.”
At OLP, our community makes space for each of our individual identities and teaches us to provide the welcoming culture of belonging for all. As we live out the CSJ principles within our Catholic high school community, we feel it important to anchor ourselves to an integrated symbolic representation of our Sisters’ culture that welcomes all within the heart of its message. The CSJ began with teaching women the art and skill of lacemaking; and as you look at the imagery of what we call our unifying love logo, consider yourself a thread within the beautiful product of the whole, the lace. A thread that thrives in its singular identity, yet is wholly connected to the bigger picture, and thus integral to the completed beautiful design. It is our hope that through this symbolism, each student, employee and guest to campus will feel the culture of belonging that is inherent within our school community.
School History
The sponsorship of the CSJ guides and contributes to all aspects of campus life. Central to this spiritual and philosophical foundation are the Sisters’ charism of “unifying love” and mission “that all may be one,” as well as their focus on service to the “dear neighbor without distinction.” The CSJ charism also speaks to a commitment to the furthering of social justice in our world and the inclusion of a Peace Education curriculum that calls all students to leadership skills. The CSJ Congregation was founded in Le Puy, France, in 1650, and re-founded as a United States Congregation in Carondelet, Missouri, in 1836. The sponsorship of the CSJ guides and contributes to all aspects of campus life. OLP was founded in 1882. In 1924 the school moved to its current location at Copley Street and Oregon Street overlooking Mission Valley. Over the years our beautiful campus has undergone multiple renovations which culminated in 2024 with the addition the St. Thèrése of Lisieux Library and Performing Arts Center.

Textbooks
OLP has established a partnership with Follett as a convenient option for purchasing textbooks. Follett diligently scours the market for course materials, offering a diverse array of formats and prioritizing cost-effective options such as rentals and pre-owned books. The Fall term for 2025-2026 will become accessible on the bookstore’s website as of June 1st.
Explore Follett Virtual Bookstore via the following link: https://www.bkstr.com/academyofourladypeacestore
While the online bookstore is one option, it’s important to note that alternatives are available for families who prefer to purchase elsewhere. A comprehensive list of necessary course materials for each class will be unveiled on the OLP website by June 1st. To access this information, navigate to https://www.aolp.org/academics/ and select the “Textbook Information” card. After June 1st you’ll discover a direct link to the 2025-2026 textbook list. When opting to purchase from sources beyond the Follett bookstore, ensure the correct edition by referencing the ISBN provided.
In May there is also a Used Textbook Sale where students can engage in peer-to-peer transactions in which they buy and/or sell their textbooks. All transactions are between students and OLP does not buy any textbooks. Mark your calendars for May 23rd for the Used Uniform and Textbook Sale at the OLP campus
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
OLP strives to develop mastery of 21st-century skills in each student in order that she becomes an engaged agent of change in our global society. Technology plays a critical role in the way we collaborate and communicate in that same world. OLP requires that all students have access to the tools of the 21st-century via a mobile device. With respect to OLP’s mission and the economic diversity of our families, OLP does not mandate the specific device each student uses, but rather, has adopted a “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) policy that outlines recommended and minimum specifications for whatever device a family chooses.
This policy and practice guides the use of interactive instruction and learning that connects our students more meaningfully to the world outside and, just as effectively, to the world outside to the classroom.

Serving the Dear Neighbor
Serving our dear neighbor in a spirit of “unifying love” is the heart of the CSJ mission and, therefore, also the heart of the OLP mission. We are called to be loving disciples, serving our dear neighbor. As a member of the OLP community, each student is encouraged to engage in Christian service, striving to bring about justice and love in our community, as Jesus modeled for us. Service at OLP is grounded in the understanding that every person is created with innate worth and dignity. OLP offers a wide variety of local service opportunities, mixed with educational justice immersions, focusing on a wide range of social justice issues, both domestic and international.
Guidelines for Service
We do not require mandatory service hours to graduate from OLP. This philosophy encourages and celebrates the thriving culture of voluntary service that has flourished at OLP. We firmly believe that students are motivated to serve others through an authentic spirit of compassion and a desire to engage with our dear neighbors, both locally and globally. Students will be encouraged to serve others in connection with their Theology classes and students who truly embody what it means to serve our dear neighbors have multiple opportunities to be recognized, honored, and celebrated.
Service Opportunities at OLP
Throughout the year, OLP Campus Ministry offers a multitude of service experiences for our students. We post our service opportunities in the Campus Ministry Instagram and Schoology pages, in Theology classes and the weekly bulletin, and share them on morning PTV announcements. Our educational justice immersions can be located on the Justice Immersion Ministries page of the OLP website. We hope you take the time to explore the wonderful opportunities that we offer. If you are interested in a justice immersion, check out available opportunities at aolp.org/student-life/immersion/
Masses at OLP
Gathering as a community to celebrate the Catholic mass provides wonderful opportunities for students to learn more about Catholicism, experience inspiring masses, and connect with each other and local priests. OLP actively welcomes and embraces students from all faith traditions, including no faith tradition. While all students are required to respectfully attend our once a month all-school masses, students may choose the degree to which they participate in the mass based on their personal faith background and the teachings of the Catholic Church. We celebrate optional masses in our Chapel the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:15 am. Students can volunteer to serve a variety of roles in our joyful masses! Questions?
Campus Ministry
A lively and rich Campus Ministry coordinates the entire OLP faith community in seeking to live out the ideals of Jesus in the Catholic tradition. With an attitude of conviction that each of us is called to love and serve, OLP Campus Ministry fosters leadership development for our faith community and toward a better world. Students and faculty work together taking leadership roles in facilitating retreats, planning liturgies, organizing justice awareness activities, and serving others in San Diego and across the world.

Summer Reading List
In an effort to foster a love of reading and to spend time reflecting on the spirit of our founding sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the English Department has selected a book for each grade level that connects with the primary charism of our sisters that is a central focus of our school and learning. There is one text assigned per grade, regardless of level or course.
Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to foster a love of reading and develop a deeper sense of the school’s charism as a foundation for the school year.
Expectation: Students are expected to actively read and annotate the book chosen for their grade level. While reading, students should reflect on the charism aligned with that novel and be ready to discuss and participate in activities centered around the book when they begin the school year.
Assessment: When students return they will engage in a variety of activities based on the assigned text in their classes. Activities will vary according to course, but could include discussion, Socratic Seminar, group projects, individual projects, a written essay, creative writing, etc. The expectation is that students will have read the book and be ready to engage with the text during the first week(s) of school.
