SAN DIEGO CIVIC THEATRE

SPRING SING!

We are here tonight to enjoy the fine performances of our Senior, Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman classes as they take us on an exciting journey to the Arcade. We are certainly in for a treat as we see our students’ interpretations of Mario Kart, Dance Dance Revolution, The Claw Machine, and Pac-Man. Be prepared to be awed by the dazzling choreography and amazing singing that was produced and directed by our very own OLP students.

For many weeks, our students, in partnership with their Spring Sing moderators, diligently practiced after school over the course of many hours to put on a show that was truly representative of the high standards and expectations of an OLP Spring Sing production. The innovation, creativity, and collaboration exhibited by each class truly exemplifies the Catholic values and the charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet to unify together in the spirit of love for our dear neighbors. Tonight, you will not only see superb showmanship, but also the strength of sisterhood on full display which is the OLP way.

I am thankful for the entire OLP community for their unwavering support of our Spring Sing students. I appreciate the dedication of our administration, faculty, and staff for guiding our students’ efforts and providing them with the necessary resources to prepare for this show. I am grateful to our families for encouraging their daughter’s full participation in Spring Sing. You provided the transportation and carpooling needed for our performers to attend each and every practice. Your moral support and encouraging words inspired our students throughout the creative process. I am blessed that we have alumnae from near and far who are here tonight to cheer on their OLP sisters during this time honored tradition. Their presence is a testament to the enduring love they have for their alma mater.

Again, I welcome you to the greatest show in San Diego. You will take home many fond memories of an evening well spent at the Civic Center. I pray you will leave here with a tune on your lips, a song in your hearts, and a wish that the night had never ended.

Now on with the show, Pilots!

WELCOME TO OUR 53 RD ANNUAL

SPIRIT OF SISTERHOOD TRIBUTE PAGE

CATIE NICKOLI

A note from our Spirit of Sisterhood 2022 Recipient, Catie Nickoli (Class of 2023), on what Spring Sing means to her… Spring Sing, to me, transcends generations and creates a true bond that is hard to find anywhere else. My first encounter with Spring Sing was different than most. My mom (Chrissy Poole ‘95) was an avid “spring singer,” winning her junior year spirit of sisterhood award and overall spring sing title as director in 1994. In my eighth-grade year, she took me to see Spring Sing’s “A Night at the Museum,” From there, I realized how deep the love of Spring Sing runs in my family. Along with my mom, my three aunts (Jennifer Poole ‘92, Sarah Poole ‘98, and Teresa Poole ‘01) were also participants in Spring Sing. At first, when they talked about it, I didn’t get the fuss, but I would soon understand as I took up the daunting task of being a musical director during my freshmen year. I was excited to take up a leadership Spring Sing role like my mom but learned it wasn’t for me and that I wanted to try acting. I told my mom; she was incredibly supportive and excited for me to pursue this passion. Since then, I have acted in every Spring Sing production, and my love for it has skyrocketed, especially in my role as Freddie Mercury ‘22! This unique experience has made my relationship with my mom all the more potent because we can talk about it for hours and hours on end. At this point, I think my love for spring sing is genetic because it’s uncanny how similar our passion is for it. Despite our different roles, I cannot ignore the overlap in our Spring Sing experiences. Therefore, I can proudly say that I have lived up to my mom’s Spring Sing name by winning the Spirit of Sisterhood award and the overall Spring Sing title in my Junior year, just as she did. I hope you enjoy the show and go, Seniors!!

Thank you

Thank you to our moderators, Ms. Milena Kufa and Mrs. Tiffany Rajski ‘07. Without them to help and guide us through our first year, we would not have been as successful as we were. Thank you to all of the chorus for putting in so many hours to memorize dances and songs to make our show possible. Our actors also deserve a big thank you. Through their hard work and dedication they have memorized many lines and have shown up to numerous practices to help create the story we are trying to produce today. As well as the dancers, who have also put in so much time and effort to perfect the choreography given to them and to help add to the overall story. We would also like to give a shout out to the leadership team that has also put in so much hard work to create this story and help it grow into what it has become. Coming to every rehearsal and putting in the time to make this production possible. A special thank you to our guest writer Sarah Ivanjack, for sharing her talent and creativity. Finally, thank you to all the parents and guardians that were here with us on this journey. Thank you for driving us back and forth and enabling us to participate in Spring Sing. This is definitely a great start to the Spring Sing journey for the class of 2026. Thank you so much everyone, we couldn’t have done it without you.
