How to Write a Resume Summary Paragraph Many job hunters include all information about their work experiences, skills and talents, and educational background in their resume. However, this is the traditional way of writing resumes and was effective when all application letters are read by the employers. Nowadays, big companies receive thousands of applications for every job post and to reduce time spent in sorting them out, they use software that automatically matches resumes with the job requirements. When going through the resumes, those that contain keywords matching the ones in the job post have better chances of landing into the hands of the human resource staff in-charge of narrowing down the number of candidates. A long resume might be able to pass the software but it will have a very little chance of being read by humans. An application letter of several pages will turn off employers or hiring managers who do not have the time to read through your very long resume. So, how can you make a resume summary that will get you the job that you want? Here are some tips to help you find employment faster. First, make your resume short. Think of the questions that an employer would ask if you are talking to him face to face. Precisely, the answers to those questions should be contained in your resume. Second, arrange the information that you place in your resume summary in a logical manner. The way you present all the details will tell if you are an organized and logical person. This is a suggested outline for your resume. a. Place your name, home address, phone number, and email address at the top. Times New Roman, Arial, and Courier are the three commonly used font styles for resumes and application letter. The font size in the heading must be bigger than the rest. b. After your personal details, write your objectives in applying for the job. Your objectives will tell how you can add value to the company. c. Next, talk about your job experience, starting with the most recent. Only experiences relevant to the job that you are applying for must be included. Place the name of the company, your position, and your length of service in that company, as well as awards or recognitions that you received. d. Your educational background comes next, starting with the most recent school that you attended, the course you took, and your year of graduation. You can include honors, awards, and achievements in school. e. Then, list down at least three references. Second, leave enough white space to increase readability. This also makes your resume look neat and clean. Observe correct margin on both sides and on the top and bottom parts.

Third, remove the hyperlinks in your email address and in other links found in your resume so that they will appear in black an not in blue color. Use only one color to make your resume pleasing to the eyes. Last, check your grammar and spelling before sending your resume. Most employers want their employees to have excellent writing and oral skills. Wrong spelling and grammar can pull you down. A one page resume that answers all questions that an employer always asks can help you get an interview that will lead you to getting hired.
