Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for an Assistant Purchasing Project Manager/Senior Buyer at our Farmington Hills, MI location. As an Assistant Purchasing Project Manager/Senior Buyer you will manage vehicle model lines and their various Programs from pre-sourcing activity to launch and throughout project lifecycle to achieve cost targets and maintain Program timing. Anticipate risks and proactively propose countermeasures. Support all management enquiries related to the model line and its various Programs. Coordinate with relevant functions to ensure a successful program introduction, escalating issues to PPM management when risks warrant. Lead cost reduction activities for current model programs. The Assistant Purchasing Project Manager/Senior Buyer: • • •

Leads the purchasing activities of all projects associated with the vehicle model lines, facilitating issue resolution between the program teams and line purchasing. Develops and leads activities with line side purchasing members to achieve project cost and timing milestones, including sourcing plan, production sourcing contract, approved budget sharing, and quote analysis. Promotes the Product Development Team (PDT) process to capture real-time cost fluctuations, identify opportunities for cost savings, and forecast any design/cost risks. Ensures appropriate utilization of purchasing resources and facilitates issue resolution between functional areas. Leads model-specific Leading Competitive Country (LCC) initiatives to ensure global competitiveness and achievement of Sourcing Plan goals. Communicate with line side Purchasing members to ensure that targets are met. Plans, coordinates, and executes Cost event activities with Buyers, Suppliers, Engineering, and VT Engineering. Reviews and reports the results of cost analysis to Purchasing management. Manages the maintenance of piece cost and Supplier Tooling cost detail to track vehicle Program status relative to Program targets and budgets from Sourcing through Launch. Monitors all Budget and Quote fluctuations related to the responsible Programs. Notifies the necessary Team Members of issues as required. Leads Cost Reduction activities on current model Programs. Works as a team with the PPM organization in Japan as well as other project management members from Engineering and Cost Management. Validates and reports project status for Nissan Value-Up reporting, including budget, best forecast, commitment, and target. Management Accountabilities: Provides leadership, guidance, and training for PPM analysts.
Qualified Assistant Purchasing Project Manager/Senior Buyers must possess: • • • •
Extensive knowledge of overall vehicle development schedules and milestones. Good knowledge of overall manufacturing processes. Superior analytical skills at a macro and micro level. Ability to manage many simultaneous projects.

Six or more years of experience in Purchasing and project management within the Automotive industry. Experience working in a multi-cultural team environment desired. Experience working overseas a plus. Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering. Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated expertise in MS Office suite, with emphasis on spreadsheets and databases (Excel, Access).
