Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for an Assistant Purchasing Program Manager at our Farmington Hills, MI location. An Assistant Purchasing Program Manager will manage the platform and its various projects from pre-sourcing activity to launch and throughout project lifecycles to achieve cost targets and maintain program timing. Anticipate risks and proactively propose countermeasures. Support all management enquiries related to the platform and its various programs. Coordinate with relevant functions to ensure a successful Program introduction, escalating to Senior Management when risks warrant. Lead cost reduction activities for current model programs. Promote the development and success of team members. Support the continuous improvement of the PPM function. Contribute to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth. Job Knowledge and Skill: Extensive knowledge of overall vehicle development schedules and milestones. Good knowledge of overall manufacturing processes. Knowledge of Buyer function. Superior analytical skills at a macro and micro level. Ability to manage simultaneous projects and tasks. Excellent communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written). Experience working in a multi-cultural team environment desired. Experience: Seven or more years of experience in automotive purchasing. Demonstrated experience in project management. Experience working overseas a plus. Supervisory Experience: Two or more years in a full supervisory role, providing leadership, coaching, guidance and training and contributing to staff development. Personal Characteristics: Excellent Team Spirit to work with related departments (Production Purchasing, V/T, Vehicle PPM, Design, VCM, PCM, etc.). Excellent organization and administrative skills. Positive attitude with a proactive and dynamic personality. Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering required. Master’s degree in business or engineering preferred. Computer Skills: Demonstrated excellent PC skills (MS Office suite), with emphasis on spreadsheets and databases (Excel, Access).
