JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITTLE: Distribution Generalist SCHEDULE: 3rd Shift, 1: AM TO 7: AM, ONE DAY OFF SALARY: $10.50 per hour CAR ALLOWNCE: Provided for specific jobs GENERAL JOB FUNCTION This is an entry-level non-exempt position. Under the direction of the Distribution Coordinator or the Distribution Supervisor and in accordance with the corporate policy and standard operating procedures, concentrates efforts on the manual labor aspects of distribution center operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • • • • • • • • • •

Actively participates in the daily operations under the direction of coordinator or supervisor. Responsible for unloading bundles of newspapers from delivery trucks, verifying receipt of complete paper draw, and distributing proper allocation of copies to each independent contractor. Use and maintenance of pallet jack, pallet walker, recharger and other equipment Assisting drivers in off-loading arriving tractor trailers, storing materials, reloading trucks within established deadlines. Deliver open geographic territories and show geographic territories to new independent contract carriers. Deliver replacement copies at the customers’ request. Learn layout of all geographic territories serviced from the distribution center and periodically audit routes for efficiency. On occasion, may assist in maintaining a daily record of: contracted geographic territories serviced, truck and contracted carrier arrival times, systems problems and answers to customer complaints. Occasionally, in the Supervisor or Coordinator’s absence, prepare weekly route settlement to insure accurate compensation to contractors for services rendered. All other warehouse and housekeeping work as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • • • • • • •

Able to routinely lift heavy items. Ability to unload bundles of newspapers (30-50 lbs. each) from delivery trucks and quickly move to spot for independent contractors. Able to use and arrange proper maintenance for pallet walker, pallet jack, recharger. Good verbal and communication skills in person. Operate automobile. Ability to access all types of personal and business property while meeting delivery deadlines. Ability to function at night and in adverse conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS • • • • •

Ability to develop thorough knowledge of the Independent Contractor Delivery Agreement. Ability to learn layout of geographic area serviced from the distribution center. Able to meet deadlines and attendance standards. Good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes.

EDUCATION •

High School Diploma or Equivalency required.

EXPERIENCE • •

At least 6 months experience using office equipment, computer (Microsoft Office) and fax machine. Previous newspaper delivery experience preferred, but not required
