________________________________________________________________________ OUTREACH NOTICE Support Services Specialist GS-0342-6/7 Willamette National Forest Sweet Home Ranger District Sweet Home, Oregon The Sweet Home Ranger District will soon be advertising one permanent, full-time Support Services Specialist, GS-0342-6/7. The duty station is Sweet Home Ranger District in Sweet Home, Oregon. The purpose of this Outreach Notice is to inform the potential applicant pool of this position. This position is located on a Forest Service unit. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clerical support in a variety of functions within a Forest Service unit. This position supervises two employees GS-05 level and one employee at a GS-04 level. The incumbent plans and coordinates a variety of general office support services in support of the work of an organization, such as requisition, purchase, storage, and maintenance of stock levels; installation, repair, maintenance, and disposal of office equipment, etc. The person in this position is responsible for the development and maintenance of files for the District. Duties involve the supervision of collections for personal use permits, fuelwood, recreation, and other resource data from frontliners, and entering it into electronic or manual information processing systems or appropriate filing systems. Searches files for technical, administrative, and financial data for land management planning, environmental studies, user and permittee billings, etc. The incumbent is responsible for disseminating accurate information to prospective permittees; initiates and edits resource data and correspondence. Coordinates volunteer agreements with appropriate resource personnel. Provides technical and administrative supervision to subordinate employees. Plans work to be accomplished, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluates work performance. Gives advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. This job is primarily to support District Ranger, Staff and Employees to help them be successful with Forest Service Processes. Refers group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager.
