All Saints Catholic Parish Primary School All Saints School was established in 1989 to provide a quality Catholic Education to the students of Albany Creek, Eatons Hill and surrounding areas. It has grown into a medium size school of over 700 students. The committed and caring staff, work closely with parents to provide a well-rounded education for its students. All Saints School has embraced the Australian Curriculum as well as the latest research in how to improve student learning. All Saints School has a comprehensive Religious Education program. The faith life of all students is nurtured through opportunities to be involved in prayer and liturgy, as well as being involved in opportunities to support the different charity groups within our community. All classrooms are air conditioned to enhance the environment for student learning. There are two computer labs – one mac and one PC. All classrooms have access to laptops, desktops, iPads and iPods. Year 5 and 6 students are involved in a one to one iPad program. Year 6 students now visit Canberra each year. Our library has ten learning spaces to provide a range of different learning environments for our students. There are extensive grounds and covered spaces for outdoor learning. There are comprehensive music, instrumental music and sports programs available for all students. Students can join a variety of choirs, learn a string, woodwind, brass or percussion instrument, as well as have an opportunity to learn the recorder and ukulele in classroom music lessons. Albany Creek Optometrists are focussed on patient care and now they can see even more of what goes on inside your eyes. They have installed the latest in CT scanning for eyes, the Carl Zeiss Cirrus Photo 600 to take images of your macula and optic nerve. The Cirrus Photo 600 uses infra-red light to image the retina inside your eye, as well as the cornea at the front of your eye. It is also capable of taking high resolution photographs of the fundus (back of the eye), and can use a new technology called Fundus Autofluorescence to photograph the macula of your eye using a special blue wavelength light to detect early signs of macular degeneration. The Cirrus OCT can detect subtle changes at the macula when fluid starts to accumulate, and provides the best early detection of conditions such as diabetic macular oedema. As we grow older our eyes may change in ways not visible on the surface and sometimes without obvious symptoms. This new technology will further improve the detection and management of many serious and sight threatening conditions. BLS First Aid is a local family run business who use their healthcare background to deliver First Aid & CPR training, proudly representing the North side of Brisbane. We are very passionate about getting defibrillators into the general public, in order to potentially save as many lives as possible.

Each year around 30,000 Australians experience Cardiac Arrest. This equates to one every 9 minutes. Sadly, In Australia, only 9-10% of these 30,000 people who experience Cardiac Arrest will survive. 95% of victims who die, do so before reaching hospital. When an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is used, along with early CPR, the chance of survival increases drastically to 30-40%. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how important defibrillators are to saving lives. Getting defibrillators out to as many local businesses and public areas as possible is critical to making Australia a safer place.

Albany Creek Veterinary Surgery are now proud owners of a HeartSine 500p AED, and have now helped make the area a safer place. We were asked to deliver our Nationally recognised CPR training to the staff at the Vets. This training includes the use of an Automated External Defibrillator. While training The Albany Creek Veterinary Surgery in CPR, they asked about our HeartSine defibrillators, and we were more than happy to show them.

Prosthetic Hands for Landmine Victims The Rotary Club of Albany Creek is conducting a campaign to assist the hundreds of thousands of people in Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Laos, mostly children) who are the victims of land mines.

We are making prosthetic hands which we supply and fit to needy recipients. This necessitates the purchase of a kit from the manufacturer which we then personally assemble to make a high quality prosthetic device.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! The kit costs $350 (tax deductible) per hand, and we will be having a special working bee in April 2016 where we will be assembling the kits. You and your staff are invited to attend, to help assemble a hand. Each hand that we send and fit, will profoundly improve a person’s life.
