ROTARY Christmas in the Creek Residents of Albany Creek are looking forward to this year’s Christmas in the Creek to be held at Albany Creek Community Centre on Saturday 1st December. To kick start the event we have the talented duo Romeo and Juliet who will entertain and MC the event. Enjoy Jazzy J’s Christmas Magic Show, free face painting and a special visit from Santa himself! This great community event will also include a sausage sizzle, popcorn and fairy floss stand. The first ‘Christmas in the Creek’ event was held in 1996 and each year the event gets bigger and better. Albany Creek Rotarians are proud that we have been able to run this free family event for many years where people can catch up at this special time of year to relax and take in the atmosphere. The Future

The Rotary Club of Albany Creek is looking forward to 2019 with great enthusiasm. Our youth program will be larger than ever with commitment to the following activities: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) which is a one-week program to give leadership and self-awareness training to young people from 18 to 25 years old. Rotary Youth Program of enrichment (RYPEN) which is similar to RYLA but for younger people (age 14 and upwards) and runs over a weekend. Our Interact clubs which operate in the Albany Creek State High School and Genesis Christian College give young people an understanding of the process of working together to achieve outcomes which benefit the community. We also send successful candidates to the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) which is held over one week. This program is focused on top science students and they are introduced to a broad range of opportunities in science. Participants frequently describe this program as life changing. The Road Safety awareness program (RYDA) has now assisted some 1000 grade 11 students from schools in this area understand the risks and realities of driving on the road. Doubtless this program has and will continue to save young lives. The Rotary Club of Albany Creek is looking for of new members to assist us to keep these wonderful programs running and who can bring forth new ideas for further community activities.
