Dear Clients, Pets and Neighbours, Our new Veterinary Hospital is expected to be completed by June/July 2018 and being built next door to our current site at 739 Albany Creek Road. Our address will not change. We will move to the new hospital over a weekend in July-August 2018. Except for the one Saturday of that weekend we will remain fully operational until the move and will be open for normal business after the move the following Monday. Our current building will be demolished to allow for an additional building and more car parking within the complex. There will be some restricted parking during the demolition of our current building after we have moved. We apologise for any inconvenience. This will be kept to a minimal period. The new complex will have 19 car parks and should be fully completed by late 2018. The new hospital will offer a full range of veterinary services to our Albany Creek – Eatons Hill and surrounding community.

‘Service Above Self’ - recognised at the Community Awards Night Rotary is an international organisation dedicated to the principle of community service both in our local and international community. Rotary began in 1905 as a business networking group who for their first project, built a toilet block in downtown Chicago. Within the next 10 years, Rotary became in international organization. Rotary is known for upholding ethical standards and applying members’ vocational expertise, to tackle some of the world’s greatest challenges such as the eradication of polio. The Rotary Club of Albany Creek encompasses this philosophy but also recognises those in our community who share similar ideals and ethics. To achieve this, they have recently held a Community Awards Evening at Samuel Gray’s restaurant to present four significant awards.
recipients both of whom have more than 30 years of service, much of which has been voluntary, in their fields. Narelle Pinkstone has worked in the tuckshop at Albany Creek SS and SHS for 25 years, Meals on Wheels and Salvation Army. Also a recipient of this award is Dr John Stansic, a former curator of Molluscs at the Queensland Museum for 26 years and now honorary researcher at both the Australian and Queensland Museums. In a voluntary capacity, he has authored two books and numerous papers on the land snails of Australia, worked with young children and university students to help them learn this field. The Rotary Club of Albany Creek congratulates and offers sincere thanks to this year’s recipients for their commitment to Rotary’s common goals of making a difference in the world.
The first award, the Pride of Workmanship Award is aimed at encouraging pride of workmanship, providing employers with an opportunity to recognise employees who display those qualities which are worthy of an award. This award was presented to Lyn Halliday a well-known employee from the Albany Creek Pharmacy and Wes Mortensen, the Coordinator of Parks and Recreation Planning from the Moreton Bay Regional Council. The second award, the Ethics in Business Award, also known as the Vocational Service Award is presented to three businesses who were nominated for strong ethical practices and the character, dependability and service mindedness of their personnel. Alfina Racti from Alfina’s Coffee at Eaton’s Hill, Dr Stephen Lindores from the Albany Creek Veterinary Clinic and Chris and Vanessa Kelly from the Albany Creek Pharmacy were acknowledged as being worthy recipients of this award. The third award, the Community Service Award, highlights those in our community, who have given voluntary service for many years. This year’s recipient, Lee Porter has served this community in many roles for many years. She has a long list of service including running under-5 craft classes, distributing bird nesting boxes at the Kombucha Sanctuary Festival and carrying out craft with low care dementia patients at Wesley Mission, Bray Park. The fourth award is a recognition from Rotary’s charity, the Rotary Foundation. The presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow recognition is the Foundation’s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs and is named for Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris. The club honours two
