External Funding and Support We are grateful for support from, or coordinated by, the City and County of Swansea and its partners. Three teams, which have a specific focus on Gower, provide us with invaluable assistance and the support that makes the festival possible:
Gower Landscape Partnership (GLP) The Festival is a signed up GLP partner, alongside seventeen other organisations that have come together in a collaborative agreement to protect, conserve, manage, understand and inform on Gower’s special qualities. GLP is managing a number of significant initiatives designed to preserve and repair distinctive landscape and heritage features and to assist in the interpretation and understanding of Gower. GLP is funded for a four year period through the Heritage Lottery Fund under its Landscape Partnership Programme, the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and other funding partners: Natural Resources Wales (NRW), the National Trust and the City and County of Swansea.
Gower AONB Partnership (AONB) The AONB is working to protect Gower for future generations and to enable everyone to appreciate the landscape, wildlife and culture of Gower. The AONB is co-ordinated by the City and County of Swansea, with financial support from NRW.
Countryside Connections (CC) CC is a project that connects people and communities to the countryside through an interesting and varied programme of activities in rural wards of Swansea. CC works in partnership with many organisations and individuals to provide a wide range of conservation and rural heritage themed opportunities for schools, community groups and visitors to the area. See www.swansea.gov.uk/rdp or call 01792 636893 for more information. CC is funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 (funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) and NRW.

What you need to know I All participants in the Gower Walking Festival do so at their own risk. I Walk meeting points are indicated by the letter in the red circle A alongside the walk title. The map on pages 56 and 57 shows these meeting points. Where meeting points may be difficult to locate, further information can be found on pages 58 and 59. I Assistance dogs may accompany their owner on any land-based walk including walks that state no dogs. I Please bring an emergency contact phone number and write it on the wrist bracelet we will provide for you. I Always wear suitable footwear and clothing and be prepared for unpredictable weather. An inadequately prepared person could affect the safety and enjoyment of the whole group, so we reserve the right not to take a person who is not properly equipped. I Some walks are suitable for dogs on short leads, but remember there are ponies, sheep and cattle roaming on Gower. I Distances of walks are approximate. I Walks will start promptly, so please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time. I Most walk leaders and backmarkers are volunteers. I Bring along any medication you may need during the walk. I It is always advisable to carry a drink and sun-protection. Some walks suggest bringing a packed lunch. Bring snacks if you feel you may need them. I Cars should be parked sensibly and locked, with no valuables on show. I Walkers aged 16 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. I All walks are circular unless stated. I Check current timetables for bus information.
Walk Gradings & Symbols Easy: Mainly flat walking on paths with good surfaces. No steep hills or stiles. Few steps. Some Exertion: Generally good surfaces with some inclines and/or steps and stiles. Moderate: Varied landscapes, possibly with more challenging slopes. Stiles and steps expected. Suitable for keen walkers who are reasonably active.
