Winter Program Guide Information:
Welcome to the 2019-2020 Winter Program Guide. This catalog combines all of the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services programs and events in one easy-to-browse place. Please use the interactive table of contents and hyperlinks in each section to make registration even easier.
How to register: 1. Go to accgov.com/leisure or go straight to the Online Catalog 2. Click on “Online Registration.” 3. Log In or Create an Account 4. You can use the tabs on the top of the screen or search by keyword, location, category, age, or day of the week on the left. 5. Register and Pay. A confirmation email will be sent immediately after checking out. Out- of-county residents pay 50% more than ACC residents.
***If you do not have internet access, you may use one of our community center libraries or resource rooms, or call the specific facility where the program will be held for assistance.
Online Catalog Tips • Search by age, activity, location, category, or day of the week to find your perfect activity. • If you do not see programs listed in the online catalog, try clearing the search filters. • Your shopping cart expires after 15-minutes and any programs are removed from your cart.

DECK THE WALLS: SHOP LOCAL FOR THE SEASON (ALL AGES) Nov. 30 - Dec. 28 | 5:30 - 7:30PM | FREE! Lyndon House Arts Center The Visual Arts Guild of Athens (VAGA), our Gallery Shop partners, is hosting the annual Deck the Walls, a seasonal shopping display of local art and crafts. All VAGA members, as well as local Athens area artists, are invited to participate. Special shopping night for unique arts and hand made crafts on Thursday, December 19, 6-8pm. Join us for cider and cookies and art!
HOLIDAY ORNAMENT DECORATING (AGES 8-11) Dec. 4 | 6 - 7PM | $4 Lay Park 'Tis the season! We will be decorating ornaments for the holidays. Come join us for an evening of winter treats and fun to the celebrate the holiday season.
DOWNTOWN PARADE OF LIGHTS Thursday, Dec. 5 | 7PM | FREE! Find details at ACCGOV.COM/PARADE
DECK THE HOLLOW (ALL AGES) Dec. 6 - 8 & 13 - 15 | 5:30 - 7:30PM | $5 Memorial Park Experience Bear Hollow Zoo decorated for the holidays! Activities include: live music, animal encounters, and photo opportunities in the zoo illuminated with holiday lights. Concessions are available for purchase. Admission fee is $5 per person, children ages 2 and under are admitted free of charge.
GRINCHMAS HOLIDAY PARTY (AGES 2-12) Dec. 12 | 6 - 7:30PM | FREE! Lay Park Come out for an evening of family fun as North Pole and Whoville collide with special visits from Santa and the Grinch! There will fun holiday themed games, crafts, and goodies for all to enjoy!
BREAKFAST WITH THE GRINCH (ALL AGES) Dec. 14 | 9:30 - 11AM | $6 Rocksprings Park We will enjoy a pancake and sausage breakfast, fruit snacks, Grinch games, and a Grinch craft. This program will serve breakfast promptly at 9:30 am and the Grinch will appear for photos as we finish breakfast. Games and self directed crafts will be available for parents to play with children. Children 2 and under are free.
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA (ALL AGES) Dec. 14 | 9AM & 10AM | $4 Memorial Park Memorial Park is hosting its annual Breakfast with Santa! Come enjoy breakfast, crafts, and story time and photos with Santa himself!
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA (ALL AGES) Dec. 14 | 8AM, 9AM, & 10AM | $5 Sandy Creek Nature Center Join Santa for breakfast, crafts, activities, and your chance to talk to Jolly Old St. Nick. Everyone needs to register, including adults. Children under 2 years old are free and are not required to register.
HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE (ALL AGES) Dec. 14 | 11AM - 3PM | FREE! Lyndon House Arts Center Join us at this annual holiday tradition. Qualified instructors will lead seasonal hands-on art projects and holiday shopping available at "Deck the Walls" holiday shop. St. Nick will be available for photos, and the Ladies Garden Club will have the Ware-Lyndon Historic House decorated in live decor in the spirit of Victorian Christmas.
SANTA'S WORKSHOP (AGES ALL AGES) Dec. 17 | 5:30 - 7PM | $4 East Athens Community Center Looking for an event to get in the Holiday spirit? Come to East Athens Community Center for a night of fun and games with the whole family. Participants will have the opportunity to create holiday decorations and have their picture taken with Santa Claus. We will also be selling $1 raffle tickets for our annual Holiday bike raffle! A lucky elementary school kid will be able to go home with a shiny, new bike before the Holidays!
JANUARY EVENTS MLK CELEBRATION (8-11) Jan. 17 | 6 - 7PM | $4 Lay Park Come celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will recite his famous speech "I Have a Dream" and make a mobile expressing our dreams for our community, country, and the world. We will also work together in unity to complete a group focused scavenger hunt. "We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now." -MLK
VISIONS OF MLK (ALL AGES) Jan. 18 | 1 - 3PM | FREE! Lyndon House Arts Center Visions of MLK is a supporting event associated with the public initiative, “Make It A Day On, Not A Day Off Day of Service.” A community event featuring perfromance, spoken word, dance, music and poetry.
110TH ANNIVERSARY SIGNATURE EVENT: MOREHOUSE COLLEGE GLEE CLUB CONCERT Jan. 24 | 7:00 PM | Ticket info and sales date: TBA Morton Theatre The Morton Theatre Corporation presents the esteemed Morehouse College Glee Club in concert at the Morton Theatre. Join us as we continue to celebrate the Morton's 110th Anniversary Season!
FEBRUARY EVENTS VALENTINE COOKIES AND CARDS (5-18) Feb. 13 | 4 - 5PM | $1 East Athens Community Center Will you be my Valentine? Join us as we create heart shaped animal Valentine’s Day cards for that special someone. Participants will be served sugary treats as they create their card masterpieces. No pre-registration required!
VALENTINE PAINT NIGHT: YOUTH EDITION (8-11) Feb. 13 | 6 - 7PM | $4 Lay Park Join us for an evening of mandala style dot painting. We will be painting on a miniature size canvas with its own easel for you to take home and display. We will also play Valentine bingo while having light refreshments. Participants will be served sugary treats as they create their card masterpieces. No preregistration required!
