NATIONAL PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Looking back and reflecting on all that has happened in our nation and across the globe over the past two years, I am reminded that the Church IS the hope for the world. We have more opportunities to preach the Gospel and share the love of Jesus than generations before us. I am therefore pleased to be able to report that the ACC is in a strong position to face the future, with well over 1,000 churches and more than 3,000 ACC pastors committed to The Cause. CELEBRATING OUR MOVEMENT

I’ve always seen the ACC as a family – a broad network of churches and leaders that are widespread across Australia and beyond. I love how the Church is being built on the wisdom of older generations mixed with the innovative ideas of younger generations. As a result, our movement is full of vibrant, Spiritfilled churches that are bringing life and answers, and we can celebrate how the Australian Church today is having a great impact on the global Church in so many areas of church life. By the grace of God, we’ve come a long way in a relatively short time. At the 2013 National Conference, we had just celebrated 75 years, yet we are still a ‘young’ movement– young at heart and fresh with vision. Over the decades, we have continued to grow in strength and health. Today the Pentecostal Church in Australia is officially recognised as having the second largest church attendance in Australia, after the Catholic Church.

The research essentially reveals that we remain true to the core values of our past – we are a missions-minded, church planting movement with a strong commitment to winning souls, making disciples and raising younger generations. Our work beyond the four walls of the Church continues to increase as local churches expand in their involvement in the community.

WE ARE

Our Census data reveals that:

A MISSIONS-MINDED, CHURCH PLANTING MOVEMENT WITH A STRONG COMMITMENT TO WINNING SOULS, MAKING DISCIPLES AND RAISING YOUNGER GENERATIONS.

• thousands of first time salvations, and baptisms in water and the Holy Spirit continue to be a distinctive of ACC churches;

We are also known for drawing young people as followers of Christ, as the age profile of ACC church attenders remains much younger than other church denominations. During the two year conference period, we have had a phenomenal increase in constituents, from 255,000 to over 290,000, and by the end of this year we should easily go beyond 300,000 constituents – a figure our forefathers only dreamed about. We are on track to reach our goal to double in a decade, which is proving achievable as we increase by seven per cent per annum. A HEALTHY SNAPSHOT

Our annual Census data helps provide a clear snapshot of the movement, identifying our strengths, as well as some of the areas we need to give more attention to. For the past | 4 |

two years, our partnership with National Church Life Survey Research has provided us with valuable data and an in depth perspective of our movement.

• thousands of small connect groups are run by churches during the week;

• the vast majority of ACC churches offer programs for young children and young people, with 86% of local churches holding kids programs and 68% with active youth groups; • ACC churches are active in their communities through outreach and evangelistic activities, as well as bridges to the community through service and social justice activities.

CHANGING CHURCHSCAPE

This decade, our commitment has been to focus on church health, specifically to strengthen all our churches. There is an emerging trend of strong local churches that operate more than one campus. This is proving to be a viable option across the nation that geographically connects widespread members to one local church, effectively resourcing congregations, and having greater influence in their respective communities. We

are a movement of well over 1,000 churches. Though this number fluctuates, we have seen consistent growth in the last conference period. This has also been a season of assessment and evaluation for us as a movement. A number of critical issues arose from our attendance at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses into Child Sexual Abuse, yet we are strengthened in our commitment to create even safer places for children and young people, with every local church aware of their responsibilities in this area. There is no doubt that these are significant days with a number of issues that we, as the Church, will need to respond to, both locally and globally. The increasing news reports of religious persecution on a global level prompt us to take action – on our knees in prayer, and also as advocates for those fleeing for their lives. In the last two years, social media has increased to become a major tool for the Church, and many local churches and leaders have harnessed this to communicate and connect with their congregation in positive ways. The posts on @accsnapshot has provided our movement with a good picture of the what’s happening across our movement, and we encourage our churches to share their activities by hashtagging their posts with #accsnapshot. ACC REBRAND

Following the 2013 Conference and the official adoption of the name Australian Christian Churches, we rebranded the

movement with a fresh new logo for the new season ahead. This was launched in May 2014 with key ACC national and state leaders in attendance. The new branding has generated more cohesion in linking the States and ministries under the one banner. The rebrand involved a revamp of the ACC website, as well as new stationery and signage. As this has been embraced at State and local levels, it is providing a more streamlined, identifiable brand for the ACC as a whole. EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP

It is a great honour and privilege to serve our movement as National President; yet it is with the anointed team of leaders that we navigate and steer our movement for a time such as this. I greatly appreciate the tireless assistance of our Vice President, Alun Davies, and National Secretary, Sean Stanton, and I am immensely grateful to God for the National Executive team of Spirit-filled men and women that serve alongside me. Each of the National Executive members contribute by bringing wisdom, vision and faith to the table, both at our meetings and on a day-to day basis. They each do a wonderful job of carrying an enormous load and responsibilities, as well as providing oversight for specific portfolios that build and strengthen our movement. We welcomed John Hunt to the National Executive after the last National Conference, and it has been advantageous to have three State Presidents on the National Executive. The relationship between National and State continues to flourish, as the National Executive has been joined by the other State Presidents for one day of our quarterly meetings.

It has been encouraging to see all the States continue to grow in strength, thanks to all the men and women on the State Executives, as well as those in Regional leadership positions, who provide great support to our local churches and pastors. Most recent State Conferences saw record numbers in attendance.

New initiatives since the 2013 National Conference include:

The appointment of a new General Manager for the movement was recommended by our Business Team (who have been such a blessing in recent years), and at the end of 2013, we welcomed Jeff Bartlett into this role. Jeff has brought a wealth of professional experience in business operations and management, and has been a great support to myself, Sean Stanton and the National Executive.

• ACC Prayer Network: Intercessory prayer specifically for ACC pastors and their families.

• Ignite Church Planting School: A week long intensive for church planters at Alphacrucis, Sydney. • ACC Pastors Emeritus: Network of support for retired ACC pastors and/or those aged 65 and over.

All these ministries help build the Church, and I wish to thank all the National Directors for their leadership as they continue to explore and develop initiatives that provide valuable resource for the churches and pastors across our movement.

THE WORK OF OUR HANDS SOULS ARE BEING SAVED, VENUES ARE REACHING CAPACITY, NEW BUILDINGS ARE BEING OPENED... .

NATIONAL DEPARTMENTS AND MINISTRIES

The ACC has a wide range of national departments and ministries that provide a wealth of resource and support for our local churches and pastors. They include: • Missions and Relief: ACCI support close to 200 international field workers and a variety of humanitarian aid projects. • Education and Training: Alphacrucis, our national bible college, offers a wide range of degrees and a vision to become a Christian University. • Church Planting: The ACC Church Life department provides practical training and support for pioneers planting new churches. • Financial support: ACSF provides tailored financial services for our churches and pastors.

IN CONCLUSION

We have seen much progress and strategy out worked across our movement, nationally and globally, over the past two years. The Cause embraces every aspect of what we do for Jesus and there is no doubt that the Lord is blessing the work of our hands – souls are being saved, venues are reaching capacity, new buildings are being opened, as each of us follow the call to “go into the world and make disciples…” My report provides a broad perspective on the state of the ACC, and the accompanying reports from the State Presidents and National Directors will reveal the detail of each area of ministry. I pray that as we celebrate and praise the Lord for the fruit of the past two years, that our reliance on the Holy Spirit keeps us moving forward with new vision and possibilities. It is an honour to serve you in this season.

• Raising younger generations: Youth Alive, ACCKids and Rangers Australia are committed to investing in future generations. • Community action: ACC Community Engagement, Chaplaincy Australia and Indigenous Initiative are making an impact in the community. • Women: Australian Christian Women are inspiring and mobilising women across Australia to be the change in their streets, communities and the world. | 6 |

WAYNE ALCORN ACC NATIONAL PRESIDENT

NATIONAL SECRETARY’S REPORT

The 2013 National Conference was a great celebration of our 75 year history as a movement, and a commitment to strengthen our position for the future. This vision has been at the forefront of our efforts over the last two years and I’m pleased to report that across the board, we have made great progress in fine-tuning many aspects of our movement. ACC BUSINESS MATTERS

At the 2013 Business Session, a number of remits were proposed which, following healthy discussion and debate, were accepted by a large majority of the voting delegates. These involved formalising the change of name from Assemblies of God in Australia to the Australian Christian Churches, and involved amending the United Constitution and State By-Laws.

Likewise, the area of Work Health & Safety has been an ongoing focus, as well as the development of policies for AntiBullying, Privacy and Working with Volunteers.

Working with children has always been a crucial issue for every church, and we remain committed to establishing policies that create safer environments for children. The ACC was required to appear at the Royal Commission into Institutional The subsequent rebranding of the ACC involved a new logo Responses into Child Sexual Abuse in October 2014. COMMITTED TO

COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATION

The ACC has endeavoured to ensure that as a movement of local churches, we remain compliant with necessary legislation. We have actively assisted churches in keeping up with the ACNC requirements, which has involved a number of changes in reporting structures for Not For Profit organisations.

POSITIONAL STATEMENTS

The ACC began a thorough review of all the existing positional statements, as well as commissioning positions on new issues. Committees were appointed to examine each subject in depth, and submitted their draft statements to the National Executive in February 2015. The topics include Human

sexuality, Sanctity of Human Life, Human Reproduction, Social issues such as Pornography and Gambling, as well as a number of new statements relating to Freedom of Religion and current political issues. These are in the final stages of completion and will be made available to pastors once they have been accepted and endorsed. PASTORS AND CREDENTIALS

We place great value on the ministry credentials within our movement, and there are now well over 3,000 credentialed pastors in the ACC. We have recommended that Senior Pastors of churches keep encouraging their emerging leaders to apply for and keep moving through the credential process. NATIONAL EXECUTIVE

Pastor Wayne Alcorn, as National President, has led our movement over the past two years with strength, wisdom and vision in both the good and sometimes tougher times. The quarterly meetings of the National Executive have been held in different locations around the country, and there is a great sense of cohesion and team spirit between the National

George Aghajanian, Graham Corney, Stephen Crouch, John Dwight and Kim Hunt, whose wisdom and input is invaluable to my role. Together they provide a mix of significant skills that add to the professional, legal and governance of our movement. We meet together throughout the year to discuss various ACC Business matters and make recommendations to the National Executive. NATIONAL OFFICE

The ACC National Office team has been restructured and transformed in the two year Conference period. On the recommendation of the Business Team, we appointed Jeffrey Bartlett in the new role of General Manager in November 2013 who has proved to be a great asset to the movement, as well as becoming my right hand by assisting me in business administration and governance. His regular communication with local church business managers and administrators keeps them up to date on legislation and important issues on church governance. I am very grateful for my Executive Assistant, Elba Broadhead,

HONOUR TO SERVE ALONGSIDE SUCH KINGDOM-MINDED, FAITH-FILLED MEN AND WOMEN

Executive members. It is a great honour to serve alongside such Kingdom-minded, faith-filled men and women. STATE CONNECTIONS

A greater connection with the States has been forged as the State Presidents have joined the National Executive for the one day of meetings. This has effectively added to uniting and strengthening the vision of the movement as a whole, from national to state to local levels. I have also made it a priority to meet with the six State Executives, and especially come alongside those with new leadership and Executive boards. NATIONAL DEPARTMENTS

I have the privilege of sitting on the boards of many of our National Departments, and am aware of the great wealth of experience and expertise available to our movement. Our objective is that every department is managed and operated according to a strong business plan, and the accompanying National Reports reveal the extent of the broad spectrum of ministries and departments. ACC BUSINESS TEAM

The ACC Business Team was introduced to the movement at the 2013 National Conference. I am extremely grateful to | 8 |

who is extremely efficient in co-ordinating the travel, meetings and information required by the National Executive. The entire National Office team (Robyn Douglass, Sharon Hamman, Wendy Lacey and Daryl-Anne Le Roux) is a great support to everyone in the movement. On a personal note, I am indebted to Lynda my wife, and a great church that loves our movement and has been willing to release me to serve in this role. I’m inspired by John Wesley’s words: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, In all the ways you can, at all the times you can, To all the people you can, as long as you ever can.”

GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORT

INCOME STATEMENTS I am pleased to present the income statements for Australian Christian Churches (ABN: 58 123 514 361). There are two financial periods represented: 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2012 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2014. The individual Revenue and Expense categories are not directly comparable across the two periods reported due to a change in the chart or accounts in 2013, as part of a larger ACC entity restructure. The new chart reflects the ACNC recommended National Standard Chart of Accounts (NSCOA). This same format is also being used throughout the state operations, and will be the standard moving forward. When comparing the overall 2011/2012 to 2013/2014 results, in round terms Operating Revenue has increase by 21%, with total outgoings increasing by only 8%. The result is a strong increase in Net Surplus. The full audit reports for the 2013 and 2014 years are available for review on Pastor’s Login. CHILD PROTECTION POLICY As mentioned in the report by our National Secretary, an ACC Child Protection Policy is being presented to the 2015 National Conference. This Policy is an overarching statement of ACC’s commitment to promote and provide for the care and protection of children. From this basis, state Child Protection Practice Guidelines are developed

and implemented across the country together with a mix of training options allowing accessibility to all. Acceptance of the Child Protection Policy will be a significant step for ACC, building on the already existing strong culture of protecting children within our movement. MARRIAGE RITES At the time of writing, we are still awaiting notification from the Attorney-General’s Department of the change in Recognised Denomination to Australian Christian Churches for the purposes of the Marriage Act 1961. This was first notified to the Attorney-General’s Department in mid-2013, and has been pursued since this time with the Department. Until the proclamation is made ministers should still be recording the old name Assemblies of God in Australia on official marriage paperwork. The National Office will advise as soon as there are any changes to this. I greatly appreciate the tireless work of our National Office team in all seasons, but particularly in the lead up to National Conference. On behalf of the National Office, it is an honour to serve this great movement of ours. JEFFREY BARTLETT GENERAL MANAGER ACC INCOME STATEMENTS > PAGE10

ACC INTERNATIONAL

This past year, ACCI has been focusing on our strategies to see the next generation of missionaries sent out to overseas fields to engage in evangelism, church planting, leadership training and community development initiatives. We are excited to share that this is bearing fruit with 39 new career and fixed term missionaries sent out during 2013 and 2014. This increase in our activities has resulted in an increase in funding disbursed over the period of 2013 and 2014: • Missionaries and Missions Projects - $3.98 million • Overseas Community and Child Focused Development Projects - $7.76 million • Domestic Disaster Response - $458,000 A total of $12.2 million disbursed to fund the work of ACCI Missions and ACCI Relief. ACCI FIELD WORKERS STATISTICS AND FACTS

Our field workers are continuing to have a significant impact through their ministry activities, projects and strong local partnerships. For the two years from January 2013 to December 2014 they have achieved the following results: Churches Planted Indigenous Leaders Trained Children Assisted Salvations Water Baptisms Baptism in Holy Spirit People Visiting the Field in Teams Beneficiaries of Development Projects New Career/Fixed-Term Field Workers Sent Current Total Field Workers

Coaching Pathway In 2014, we developed and trialled a flexible coaching pathway that supports individuals as they explore their journey into long-term missions. We found that a coaching relationship that provides accountability, generates critical thinking and empowers the new field worker applicants was an effective approach to assisting them through their preparation for field service. Pan Asia Global Conference The PanAsia Global Conference held annually in August is always an inspiring week where hundreds gathered together to better connect with and celebrate the incredible work of our missionaries living abroad. Updates, videos and testimonies were shared by fieldworkers from Africa and Asia about the hundreds and the thousands of people who, in the past 12 months, have received salvation, been baptised, or who have experienced holistic change through community development programs. HIGHLIGHTS

One Day Campaign The One Day Campaign was back for its fifth year of making a difference. Since first being launched on the 1st July 2010, $1.63 million has been raised and 305,878 individuals have been assisted in 25 different countries through the One Day Campaign. Funds raised have supported a range of One Day projects that are: • Addressing issues of oppression and injustice • Sharing the gospel and discipling believers • Empowering communities to work together to meet physical needs and escape poverty • Restoring dignity and self worth Philippines Typhoon Appeal The amount of $244,994 was raised through this appeal, which has funded the following responses through ACCI Field Workers, the AoG Philippines and other local church networks: • 1,000 families were provided with shelter kits and a food packs. • 33 homes rebuilt and another 50 families were provided a septic tank, bathroom and toilet. | 11 |

>

• 385 tools kits were distributed allowing families to rebuild temporary waterproof shelters after the typhoon. • 75 homes re-sheeted to make them water tight and liveable. • 40 tarpaulins distributed and 350 families provided food. NEW INITIATIVES

ACCI believes that the family is the best place for the holistic development and care of a child and we are committed to protecting each child’s right to be nurtured and raised in a loving family. Kinnected Our Kinnected program takes a proactive approaching to scaling down the use of residential care and assisting vulnerable children within the context of their families. Kinnected has now been operating for three years, working across eight countries and advising projects in a further five countries. There are 27 residential care institutions that have undergone deinstitutionalisation during that time, and upwards of 900 children have been reintegrated back into community life, either with biological or kinship families. Four foster care programs running are operational with over 100 children currently in foster care.

ACCI’s Kinnected initiative: HelpKids in Sri Lanka has achieved great results through their focus on community-based care for children.

ACS FINANCIAL

ACS Financial is our financial services organisation, wholly owned by the ACC movement. We operate in the Australian financial services market place providing financial and commercial products and services primarily to the Christian sector (church, ministries and schools). We have directed focus onto our core business and strengths. Over the conference period we have: • Created ACS Mutual to better deliver Property and Liability protection to our clients, enabling us to provide greater flexibility to deliver competitive cover levels and costs, help manage risk better, and assists us to provide a greater buffer for our clients from the volatility of the insurance markets. • Producing and providing at no cost our Risk Management Guide for churches to all clients, facilitated a number of seminars in the management of risk as well as continuing to deliver risk management advice directly to individual clients. • Provided significant support to our movement at the recent Royal Commission. We were present at hearings, assisted legal counsel and provided direct input to the Commission’s consultative group. • Our Lending business assisted the funding of the many projects and property developments being undertaken across our nation as our clients and our movement continue to grow. • ACCumulator, the movement’s own investment and lending product, continues to provide very competitive deposit rates for our customers.

LEADERSHIP

The ACS Financial Board is a significant source of experience, skill and knowledge necessary for the effective governance and oversight of our business. The business has built a strong management team with considerable expertise and drive. ACC KIDS

Over the past two years, we have seen all of the States unified in our approach to train, equip and lift the profile of children’s ministry across the nation. We have seen all the States make considerable steps forward with greater connection and events, with Kids conferences, camps and training days happening all around the nation. We have never had a better two year period of unified events.

FACTS & STATS

Within this two year period, the ACC National Kids Department has rebranded from Kids R Us to ACCkids to align our look and marketing with the overall movement.

The total attendance of children in ACC local churches is almost 50,000.

The 2014 Census results reveal that 86% of ACC churches hold regular Sunday School programs as the main ways of ministering to children.

RESOURCES

Our vision to raise up and equip children’s pastors is being outworked through events in each State, which are:

CELEBRATING KIDS MINSTRY

• Breakfast Vision Launches being outworked regionally throughout the States

KIDSHAPER CONFERENCE

• State Kids Leaders Training Event • Regional Training Tour to country areas

The second series we have launched are five minute videos of very specific areas within Children’s Ministry with demonstrations of these areas from key churches around our nation. These can be viewed at www.acckids.com.au/ resources/

• A child focused event for Kids (camps, kids conferences, outreach) • An appreciation supper or coffee/desert (This is outworked regionally throughout the States) • Annual Kidshaper Conference LEADERSHIP

This leadership team, which includes the State leaders, has had some changes over the last two year period with still some transition taking place at the time of this report being written. The National Team comprises:

Andy & Christie Kirk

Videos and Podcasts As there are so many churches in rural areas we have continued providing resources online via our Video Resources. The first series we released were discussions called ‘Leadership Panel Sessions’ which were a group of Kids Pastors discussing various topics of Children’s Ministry & Leadership.

We have seen an unprecedented amount of registrations each year, as well as offering free registrations to Senior Pastors to attend. This conference changes each year as we aim to stretch the leadership and thinking around Children’s Ministry. NEW INITIATIVES

With a constant search of how we can serve the wider church we will be focusing on the following new initiatives in the next season. Kidshaper National Tour As part of each States Key initiatives, all the States are combining to run their State Leaders Training Day event within the same week with a Keynote speaker. In 2015, we are combining to run a National Tour and we have Pastor Steve Adams from Saddleback Church, USA, joining us. Special Needs Ministry With Pastor Craig Johnson from Lakewood coming to our Kidshaper conference he will be launching ‘CHAMPIONS CLUB” which is a ministry for special needs children and a leading resource in this area for churches in the world. ACCkids will be partnering with Champions Club to train and equip churches to minister in this vital area. National Outreach Day In 2015 right across the nation our vision is to see all of our ACC churches unite on one day through the children’s

ministries to outreach to their own communities. ACCkids will provide a full one day video curriculum program, the resources for the lead up, all the artwork and runsheets for the program so as we all combine together in unity on this weekend we will see thousands of children come to know Christ and connect with local churches. There is an incredible opportunity for ACCkids to serve all our churches across the nation and our heart and vision is to see each local church create and maintain a safe and fun atmosphere for all children to come to know Jesus and to flourish into maturity. With all of our Training, connection, resources, events and support we believe ACCkids working with the local churches will see this come to pass. It’s an honour and privilege to serve the ACC nationally and as each church pushes in to the available opportunities, we know you will see unprecedented growth and health within Children’s Ministry. AUSTRALIAN CHRISTIAN WOMEN

The heartbeat of Australian Christian Women is to place value upon the individual and to present womanhood as God intended. One of our primary methods is to gather, equip and mobilise the women of our movement at both state and national levels. We are constantly hearing amazing testimonies from all over our nation how women within our local churches are rising up to ‘be the change’ and make a difference. LEADERSHIP

Our wonderful state leaders provide inspiration and leadership at State and local level. These are:

STATS & FACTS

The statistics on women in our movement paint an interesting picture: • Over 70% of ACC churches have women’s ministries, with active involvement and the participation of 26,500 women.

OVER 70% OF ACC CHURCHES HAVE WOMEN’S MINISTRIES

Our State and regional leaders oversight a wide range of activities and programs for women, including training and resourcing leaders, and supporting some incredible fund-raising efforts for not-forprofit organisations.

• At least 50% of the staff and volunteers serving within our ACC churches consist of women.

New South Wales/ACT Julie Vine has worked on my behalf to continue fostering healthy connections within our leadership over 2014.

• As at December 2014, a total of 956 of women within our movement are credentialed ministers, with 54 holding ‘Senior Pastor’ positions within their churches.

In 2013, our Southeast District partnered with a Fijian Church and went on a Missions trip to Nadi and Lautoka.

EVENTS

Midweek gatherings of women in ACC churches happen across the nation throughout the year, and the larger gatherings and special events happen annually at a national and state level. COLOUR Conference The annual COLOUR Conference in March is endorsed by the National Executive as the ACC woman’s conference, and it remains the flagship event of ACW.

The Capital Country Regional event, ‘WISE UP’ has gained momentum over 2013 and 2014, raising funds for Bosom Buddies who help with Breast Cancer patients and their families, and supporting Watoto ‘Keep a girl in school’ project. Queensland We established community amongst ACC leaders through events. Each region worked hard to make this happen through leadership breakfasts, retreats, regional conferences and evenings.

The State One Voice conference moved to a bi-yearly event. Attendance in 2013 was around 1200 ladies (excluding Central Queensland). The 2014 One Voice Conference appealed to the younger generation. It is relevant full of energy, there was a great sense of family, and no one wanted it to end. South Australia In 2014, Karyn Ey was the first woman elected to the State Executive, and she stepped into the oversight role of ACW in South Australia, continuing to build on what Jane Evans has achieved over the years of gathering women in the state. The State Executive divided the ACW department into three areas of responsibility under Karyn’s oversight: • bU State Women’s Conference under Janine Donato • Caring for the wives of Pastors across the state by Elaine Potts) • Developing pathways for women into ministry/female pastors in the state under Karyn Ey.

Victoria

There was a great sense of unity and cohesion in the women of Victoria under Georgie Baxter’s leadership.

• Regional ‘Round Tables Leaders High Tea’ saw a lean in of about 300 leaders from across the regions. • The annual ‘Just For Her’ State Women’s Conference was attended by over 884 women in 2014, a growth of 45% from the previous year. HIGHLIGHTS

COLOUR Conference Response to Colour has been phenomenal, and we now have two jam-packed conferences in Sydney. Attendance continues to grow, with 15,503 girls gathering in Sydney in 2015. Over 45% of the delegates represented the ACC movement, as well as 28 nations. Some 7,000 items and $3,141 were donated in 2015 to purchase items for domestic violence shelters. In 2015, 555 individuals made Jesus their Lord at Colour Conference. The Colour Sisterhood The Colour Sisterhood inspires and mobilises women to ‘be the change’ in their local communities. The Colour Sisterhood

partners with ACCI in supporting Vision Rescue, Hillsong Africa Foundation and ACCI Mother’s Hearts in Cambodia.

• The Adore Conference, which celebrated ten years in 2014, saw 1,500 women of all ages and nationalities gather together.

It is a great honour to serve our movement with the vision to see not only women, but men and children as well, rise to their stature across the landscape of the Church through ACW.

• Women in leadership (credentialed, pastors’ wives and women’s leaders) are hungry and appreciative of input related to their feminine demographic.

I would like to thank the National Executive, the State Presidents and all Senior Pastors for their ongoing support for our gatherings across the nation.

The Ministry of Chaplaincy is delivered by the States - The State Directors work closely with the National Director to frame state vision and planning so that Chaplaincy ministry is effective and consistent throughout the nation, whilst taking into account the needs of the States. Each state director develops a state ministry team of highly skilled chaplains to assist in delivering chaplaincy ministry locally.

Every week we field enquiries regarding possible new areas for Chaplaincy ministry – it is a legitimate and welcomed aspect of our community profile and one we should cherish and strengthen in the years to come. TRAINING, EQUIPPING, RESOURCES

Training is at the heart of the development of Chaplains. We have established a strong collaboration with Alphacrucis College to deliver the highest level of Chaplaincy Training available in Australia. Chaplaincy Australia exists to work with every ACC church in Australia to bring about effective connection with their communities, reaching a group of people they would never normally be able to reach. To do this we must DISCOVER new chaplains and potential chaplains, we must DEVELOP them through the best training available and we must DEPLOY them strategically to where they are best suited and most needed. We seek to become one of the principal providers of chaplaincy ministry in Australia. RALPH ESTHERBY NATIONAL DIRECTOR www.chaplaiincyaustralia.com

CHURCH LIFE

What an outstanding two years since we last met together at the 2013 National Conference. The Cause of the Great Commission continues to feature as the ‘main game’ for all our Executive and Church Life teams around the country. We continue to see healthy results in terms of new church launches and significant breakthroughs in momentum. I have been stunned with the number of churches reporting record attendances and solid numbers of visitors and responses to the Gospel. Great days ahead!

church planters continuing through to a formal assessment as church planters (3.0).

FACTS & STATS Church Planting continues to move forward strongly with 101 churches being planted since our last conference, with reports of another 40 in process. 2013 May-Dec 29 2014 57 2015 Jan-Apr 15 Total 101

• Our Ignite Church Planting School was successfully launched late last year with outstanding feedback from all students. • Our State teams are working really well with the Eastern seaboard contributing solidly to our growth and the newer State Presidents making good progress in the health of their respective states. • Though as a movement we continue to celebrate various methods of church planting, there is definitely a shift toward more strategic models (such as ARC), which provide planters with the necessary templates and training to maximise their launch. • The health of pastors and churches continues to be a major focus for our National and State Executive teams, with various initiatives operating at State and District levels to help support this.

CHURCH LIFE SNAPSHOT Church life continues to grow across the board. The 2014 Census reveals our total constituency has increased in the last year, with strong increases being seen in kids and youth (7.1% & 11.2% respectively). The number of small groups increased by 13.8%, maybe indicating a fresh focus on discipleship and total church staff was up by 8.9%. All along the number of decisions for Jesus continues to move in the right direction (+3.2%) with over 40,000 people making this important step. CHURCH LIFE GATHERINGS Regular meetings are held, with every National Executive Meeting forming the basis of our Church Life discussions. Our State Presidents are, in fact, the Church Life Directors of their respective states and have delegated some of the detail and tactics to others on their teams. As such, we gather this group of leaders a couple of times a year, in order to ‘cross pollinate’ and update on some of the specifics of strategies within their states. EVENTS

Ignite Church Planting Course The inaugural Ignite Church Planting Course, inspired and driven by Gerard Keehan, launched strongly in November 2014. The 25 attendees enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to connect with several of our National Executive, including Pastor Wayne Alcorn and some of the most recognised fruitful church planters in our nation. Pastor Rod Plummer flew in from LifeHouse Japan to impart his unique back-to-basics discipleship model, which is proving so fruitful in reaching unreached people groups. ARC Planting Exchanges Two ARC Church Planting Exchanges have been held which cover the broad introductory elements of launching new churches. Building on this our Queensland team have held a couple of Advanced ARC Training Intensives (2.0) with several

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

During the last Conference period in conjunction with the rebrand of ACC, we have transitioned the former ACC Care department to ACC Community Engagement. The main justification for this change has been that churches need to be more engaged with their local communities in order to facilitate greater relationships between each other. Part of the shift is to reflect more of a hand up to our communities rather than a hand out, also reiterating the message that it’s not just about Sundays but Mondays through to Saturdays. This has meant exploring ways in which our churches and members can be equally engaged throughout the week in all that God has called them to. At the end of 2013, Donna Crouch handed over the leadership of the ACC Care department to Paul Bartlett who went on to implement the rebrand to ACC Community Engagement. This highlighted the need to connect pastors and other leaders in their local community in partnerships. At State Conferences, platform time was received for ACC Community Engagement and the development of a national website was launched early in 2015.

to explore principles of community development and to facilitate discussion on fresh and creative ways to stimulate community engagement. This has resulted in the following outcomes: • State and Regional Community Engagement Round Tables have been held;

NEW WEBSITE SHARING STORIES AND RESOURCES

• The launch of the National Community Engagement website (www. acccommunityengagement.org. au)to bring awareness, share stories and resources.

KIDSHAPER CONFERENCE

It’s a great start to showcase the community engagement around our nation. All State CE leaders have an expectation to be gathering stories from the churches within their states and constantly feeding the information through to the site. They also all have the opportunity to personally share blog posts on the site. We are excited to watch this platform grow and develop over the coming months.

and implementation session; equipping State CE Leaders with the practical tools, philosophy, language; and strategy to lead their state in community engagement. • Canapé ACC Community Engagement Hangout open to all community engagement conference delegates, that includes: an hour of inspiring community engagement talk, tools, tips, connection and food.; a live tour of the ACC Community Engagement website, and networking opportunity with fellow ACC Community engagement pioneers These national events booked out in 48 hours at maximum capacity, which demonstrates the interest and enthusiasm from Senior Leaders and Pastors for Community Engagement. The most prominent event scheduled for September 8th & 9th 2015 is the ACC Community Conference with guest speakers confirmed including Tim Costello, Wayne Alcorn, Paul Bartlett and more. HIGHLIGHTS

A $20,000 special offering was received for Community Engagement by Pastors and Leaders at the NSW State Conference in 2014. This will be used for amongst other things to facilitate a new initiative in 2015 (see below). NEW INITIATIVES

Start-up of the “Small Footprint Big Impact Community Grants” will be launched in early 2015. This initiative will allow ten local churches in NSW to apply for $500 grant for Community Engagement project with the following guidelines: 1. Treat the $500 as Gods money and just as in the parable of the talents, it is to be invested in an assignment not hidden away; 2. The money is to be used for a new initiative small or large specifically towards a project which promotes Community Engagement; and

3. It is expected that participating churches will report back to ACC state and national leaders with details on their project including photographs and or videos. Along with using the social media hashtags #accsnapshot and #acccommunityengagement. Based on the success of this initiative it will hopefully roll out nationally in 2016. GOALS AND VISION

Every church regardless of size should be looking to engage their communities differently. Taking advantage of current facilities as assets that can benefit the whole community and resources to be extended beyond the Sundays for all aspects of church life throughout the week. Social media plays a key role in promoting Community Engagement and sharing stories nationally through the web site and hashtags mentioned above. Also focusing Pastors and Leaders along with church members to think strategically about how they can engage their communities. Develop state leader’s role to report to your state executive on Community Engagement, propose a state budget allocation for Community Engagement and further promote Community Engagement at state conferences. Community Engagement is not a department or a program it needs to be central to the mission of the church. If it is outreach it’s dependent on a budget and attracts the fanatical few. However transformation of a city requires everyone all the time engaging their community. PAUL BARTLETT NATIONAL DIRECTOR www.acccommunityengagement.org.au

PASTORS EMERITUS

Pastors Emeritus was officially launched at the 2013 National Conference, as a network honouring ACC pastors who have retired and/or are 65 and over. Our National President, Wayne Alcorn, and ACC Executive have a vision to honour and empower those pastors who have dedicated their lives to the ministry within our movement. The National Pastors Emeritus is about providing a meaningful future for those who desire to serve the Lord in some ministry capacity after retiring from the Pastorate. Pastor Emeritus is a ministry for any Pastor who is 65 and over, and includes any Pastor who has retired, regardless of their age. Since many reach the national age of retirement yet continue to work in ministry at different capacities, it has been decided that conference and dues concessions only apply to the status of retired ministers. LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE

Each State has appointed Pastors Emeritus Leaders who are doing a great job caring for the retiring Pastors and those facing health challenges. These include:

National:

John & Val Lewis

NSW:

Ivan & Pauline Herald

QLD/NT:

George & Angie Gebran

SA:

Trevor & Valmai Auritch

TAS:

Ron & Marilyn Wilson

VIC:

Barry & Margaret Clarke

WA:

Peter & Sandra Meyer

State Leaders are encouraged to meet with their State Presidents and it is suggested that they jointly appoint Regional Representatives to co-ordinate their District events and also oversee Pastoral care especially for the widows and widowers for the Pastors Emeritus personally in their districts. I’d also like to mention Marie Cartledge who has been doing a wonderful job of nationally coordinating and providing support and care for those widows who have lost their spouse. STATS & FACTS

Our National Data Base indicates we have approximately 300 Pastors over 65 years of age who have retired status, with more than 600 Pastors over the age of 65. The fact that in the years ahead, many more of the ACC credentialed pastors will face the national age of retirement, this means that a time of transition will be necessary. Pastors Emeritus is here to support and assist Pastors in this time of transition from years of full-time leadership to the next phase of their life. | 28 |

RESOURCES

Pastors Emeritus provides regular communication and updates on topics of interest to Pastors heading for retirement, or in retirement. These include health and wellbeing, spiritual inspiration and advice on superannuation, with special thanks to ACS for their professional services. We mail out two printed communication newsletters to all Emeritus Pastors twice a year, and communicate with Emeritus Pastors via email on a regular basis. We are also grateful to Corney & Lind who made available free webinars on important subjects such as Estate Planning and Retirement Village entry. This is, of course, pertinent to some of our Pastors Emeritus, and those heading towards retirement who may be contemplating such issues.

Emeritus launch: 2013 National Conference

EVENTS

Official Launch The launch of Emeritus was celebrated at the 2013 National Conference by a large gathering of over 65’s and it was great to see so many familiar faces there. National President, Pastor Wayne Alcorn, addressed the guests and paid tribute to those who have served our movement for decades, and for laying solid foundations, that has produced on-going fruit and providing faith for the future. Statewide gatherings Each State provides their own programs and activities and a number of state wide gatherings have been held over the past two years. Our State reps are always available for personal catch-ups with our Emeritus Pastors. >

Conference Lunch We are looking forward to getting together at the 2015 National Conference for an Emeritus luncheon and this will include a 30 minute presentation by a Professional addressing maintaining our well-being in our remaining years. NEW INITIATIVES

We want to keep building our pastoral care network, especially for those facing health challenges or those who have lost a spouse. A phone call, a coffee, a meal would be so appreciated by those in the midst of time of grief. You don’t have to be a close and personal friend to let someone know you care and you’re praying for them.

Launch of the Prayer Network At the 2013 National Conference, Pastor Wayne Alcorn described how the Executive was keen to mobilize our movement into a mighty prayer chain for the many special needs of ACC Pastors that arise in our churches across the land. Towards the end of 2013, the ACC Prayer Network was launched, with Emeritus Pastor, David O’Keefe, as National Coordinator. We have encouraged the ACC Emeritus Pastors to sign up as intercessors and actively participate and assist in mobilizing this great army for prayer.

We have plans underway for an Emeritus Cruise in 2016 which will provide a great opportunity to build fellowship among Emeritus Pastors even more.

VISION

JOHN LEWIS NATIONAL PASTORS EMERITUS

The vision of Emeritus is to care and support those who are facing a new season of life and ministry, and keep building connections and relationships within the ACC family. There is a wide range of ministry opportunities for seasoned Pastors - such as preaching on weekends, or filling in for pastors who are away on holiday, long service, or for health reasons.

Facing retirement from the Pastorate should not be the end of a purpose-driven life. It can be the opening of new doors of opportunity, to do the things Pastors love doing, without being tied down to the everyday running of a church. Looking forward to catching up with you at Conference.

PRAYER NETWORK

The ACC National Prayer Network was an initiative of Pastor Wayne Alcorn and the National Executive that was birthed at the last National Conference. The ACC has always been a family movement and the Prayer Network is a vehicle for pastors to and their families to request prayer for their personal needs.

requests over the first 18 months, ranging from personal health challenges to natural disasters, as well as regular prayer for ACCI field workers on the mission field.

It was launched in September 2013, and co-ordnated nationally by David O’Keefe, with support from the Emeritus pastors and State representatives.

It is a great honour to pray for major needs of our pastors, and we have seen some wonderful answers as a result.

The Prayer Network has gained momentum, with a growing number of pastors signing up to the intercessory team across the states. There are currently over 30 regular members of the intercessory team. The email address ‘prayer@acc.org.au’ is a private email address managed by the National Co-ordinator, and all prayer requests remain confidential.

RANGERS AUSTRALIA

Through Rangers’ ministries in local churches, many children, youth and families have been impacted by the Gospel. During 2015 we celebrate fifty years of the Rangers ministry in Australia. During the past two years, Rangers Australia has undergone radical change with the introduction of a new Australian Resource program, replaced all previous training camps (NTC, ANTC) with all new Australian leadership training courses, replaced the ‘uniform’ with an optional contemporary shirt, the implementation of social media with the purpose of encouragement and ministry highlights and an online quarterly Leaders newsletter. LEADERSHIP AND STRUCTURE

The Senior Pastor is always in control of the local church Rangers’ ministry, though many choose a person to fulfil the role of the Senior Leader who ensures that all weekly activities and other special events are fulfilling the mission statement of the local church.

also held family camps, youth camps, an adventure day and some smaller district camps with great success. HIGHLIGHTS

The big highlight is the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Rangers ministry in Australia. During our recent Camporama, past national, state and district committee members as well as other past leaders attended a special celebration lunch and rally with the rest of the Camporama attendees. This was opportunity to not only briefly hear the testimonies of the past, but also to focus on what lies ahead as the ministry continues to change its presentation etc. in order to meet the mental, physical, spiritual and social needs of FOR ANYTHING young people and their families.

RANGERS READY

NEW INITIATIVES

In 2013 we launched the Rangers Australia Facebook page, which has regular updates every 2nd or 3rd day including a weekly devotion, leadership quotes, testimonies and more.

The purpose of the Rangers Australia national team is to serve as a facilitating body to develop and provide resources and training opportunities for local church Rangers ministry leaders as well as organise an annual camp, which local Rangers church ministries can choose to attend. TRAINING, EQUIPPING, RESOURCES

Rangers Australia continues to develop and deliver training for leaders in order to equip them to minister in a relevant way and where necessary in accordance with state/federal laws. The Australian resource that is provided to each partnering church is filled with all the ideas and lesson content that they can use if desired. EVENTS

In January 2015, Rangers Australia held its 10th National Camporama at Stanwell Tops in N.S.W. This attracted Rangers and their families from the eastern States of Australia as well as Rangers and leaders from Malaysia and Japan. During this reporting period, the NSW Rangers ministry has | 30 |

In 2014 we introduced ‘Rangers eNews’ which is an online quarterly newsletter for leaders, which serves to encourage and equip them through a devotional thought, ministry tips and other articles. GOALS AND VISION

Our goal is to provide a flexible ministry framework that can be used as part of the strategy of fulfilling the mission statement of the local church in a way that is also suitable for the capacity of its leaders and the culture of the community in which it is used. Our vision is to see local churches using their style of the Rangers ministry to: • evangelise, equip and empower children and young people to become active disciples of Jesus Christ. • instruct, challenge and inspire them in living life the way God intended and serving the kingdom of God through the local > church and beyond.

The fundamental biblical teachings and core values of Rangers Australia have not changed. However, with our new Australian Resource, the program can be delivered and made relevant to the young people of today. Rangers Australia is a wonderful evangelistic and discipleship tool that churches can use to reach out into their community. This ministry is unique in that it evangelises, equips and empowers children and youth in all four areas that a child grows: spiritually, mentally, physically and socially, which is based on Luke 2:52. It is my hope and prayer that more children, youth and families throughout Australia are impacted for God through the local church Rangers’ ministry. In the last conference period, Youth Alive was face to face with tens of thousands of young people across our nation through a | 32 |

Regional Through regional investment, Youth Alive is now reaching more young people than ever before. As a large land mass, with a population spread sparse, the empowerment and focus within the regions has seen the REACHING, RAISING, RESOURCING and REVIVING components develop and grow across our great nation at an unprecedented rate. Youth Alive now has over 65 regions that have taken on the responsibility to outwork the Youth Alive vision within their local contexts. RAISING

The Youth Alive National Leadership Summit in 2014 was a great success with hundreds of youth pastors and leaders from across the Nation gathering on the Gold Coast. Carl Lentz, (Hillsong NYC) and Levi Marychurch (Arise NZ) were incredible in their ability to communicate with and empower youth pastors and leaders. All the states are committed to raising leaders and have designed unique leadership initiatives that have been tailored to the requirements of each state. These include: • regional leadership tours • training courses • large scale leadership events •leadership streams at conferences • one-on-one mentoring

• leadership breakfasts • development of youth leadership intern programs • partnering with various Bible colleges

RESOURCING

Youth Alive is committed to supporting and resourcing the local church. This is evident through: • the opportunity for youth pastors to engage in the Youth Alive network to glean from one another and support each other as youth leaders and youth ministries • leadership resourcing • providing avenues for churches to build relationship in local schools • providing world class events for youth ministries to engage with the development of new christians’ resource • connecting young people to Youth Alpha REVIVING

Youth Alive is committed to seeing the young people of our movement encounter Jesus in an intimate and powerful way. The State Directors have an excellent understanding of the current climate of young people in this generation and are providing avenues to cater for these growing and diverse needs. Conferences have become a powerful vehicle as has the opportunity for students to step out in faith in their local schools, with training and support from their local youth pastors. These among other initiatives, has began a fresh wave of spiritual awakening.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

• Partnering with Youth Alpha to take young people from ‘decisions’ to ‘disciples’ • Establishment and success of two Youth Alive Conferences (WA and QLD) with almost 5,000 in attendance We have an amazing leadership culture in our movement that has set the tone for continued, strong leadership development. I would like to thank our National President, Wayne Alcorn, and the National Executive for their belief in and commitment to the ministry of Youth Alive. Also the State Presidents and their Executive Teams are highly valued and appreciated by the Youth Alive State Directors. We look forward to moving forward together for greater impact in this generation. Finally, Youth Alive is a reflection of the local church youth ministry, and I want to thank and honour every youth leader and youth pastor out there who is serving and sowing into this generation. State Conferences - Both our 2013 and 2014 State Conferences were well attended and have become a strong rallying point for our ACC pastors. The location where we hold our conference is an ideal atmosphere for our pastors to relax, unwind, connect and receive fresh inspiration from the Holy Spirit. In 2013, we had Stovall Weems, which brought a great Holy Spirit impartation. In 2014, we hosted Dr Sam Chand, bringing strong applicable messages alongside our State Executive Team. The overall aim of the conference is always to create a sense of unity and purpose in seeing souls saves, disciples made, churches strengthened and planted. HIGHLIGHTS

The great highlight was seeing our NSW churches being given tools to increase in every area of their ministries; seeing a new generation of young leaders evolving, seeing people who have been around for a while moving forward, appreciating the mature ones growing and young ones coming up and seeing the unity between wisdom and freshness. GOALS AND VISION

TRAINING, EQUIPPING, RESOURCES

We currently host three Pastors Intensives per year. These intensives are professional development courses for our OMC and PMC pastors, providing keys, principals and church life skills. Church Governance Seminars are a new initiative created in 2014 by our state leaders to ensure and improve the governance and compliance of ACC churches. Church Health Seminars are run to help pastors identify needs and areas of improvement in their churches and provides keys and principals for breakthrough in those areas. It is run by John Iuliano, who oversees the ‘Church Health’ in our state. EVENTS

Round Table Leadership Seminars are held annually. These twoday seminars have proven to be constructive in discussing relevant topics that empower our churches to move forward.

Our vision remains the same: we want to see souls saved, disciples made, churches planted, churches strengthened and to see our pastors and leaders equipped and strengthened to fulfil the call that God has for them. Personally, I find it an honour and privilege to lead this state with such a magnificent Executive team, along with our outstanding Regional and Department Leaders, pastors and churches. I particularly love working together with people, pastors and churches to see our churches continue to be impacted for the glory of God. Let us always remember that connecting humanity with Jesus and the message of the Gospel is at the core of everything we do. JOHN MCMARTIN STATE PRESIDENT NEW SOUTH WALES/ACT

STATE REPORT QUEENSLAND & NORTHERN TERRITORY

There has been a number of changes and developments in ACC Queensland and the Northern Territory in the two years since our last National Conference, ranging from major organisational restructure to the implementation of various new initiatives. During the conference period, I have visited our 14 regions and continue to be inspired by what our pastors are doing in their sphere of influence to advance His Kingdom. LEADERSHIP AND STRUCTURE

This Conference period has seen the implementation of a new management structure. We felt it was time to review every area of the organisation and ask, “Is this the best it can be?” To assist us and bring fresh eyes to view all that we do, we asked Mr Ken Hyndman of Performance and Leadership Solutions to consult. From this, there has come a number of changes that we believe will serve the State/Territory well into the future. We have adopted a Matrix style of leadership which allows for multiple points of accountability and further empowering of the talents of our State Executive team. Steve Kennedy continues to assist me and our movement as he oversees issues of discipline and Departments. Ron Anning works with our Property Committee and finances, keeping us on track in these important areas. [The table below is an overview of the portfolios held by the other State Executive members]

| 36 |

The administration of New Churches Queensland, which operated as a separate entity, has been amalgamated with the State Operations Centre (formerly known as the State Office). As well as making significant cost savings, this decision is in keeping with the State Executive’s commitment to keep church planting at the forefront of all we do. STATS AND FACTS

Currently we have 302 churches and 873 credentialed pastors in QLD & NT. Craig Tomkinson is leading church planting with a high level of focus. With 22 churches launching from 1 January 2013 to 30 June 2014, this is a healthy increase on the previous period. TRAINING, EQUIPPING, RESOURCES

The ‘Starting Strong’ program continues to offer a strategic approach to launching new churches. The strength of the program is the offering of relationship, finance and training, and with grants of up to $30 000 offered to successful

applicants. This has been taken up by many of our new churches over the last Conference period, and is achieving the goal of launching healthy churches with momentum from day one. EVENTS

Our ACC QLD/NT Conferences continue to see growth with the 2014 State Conference attracting just over 1000 attendees. Keynote speaker Leon Fontaine from Canada, ministered around the theme ‘Spirit Contemporary’. He encouraged pastors to model how the gifts of the Spirit could be used in the marketplace to see people won to Christ. As usual, the highlight of Conference was the Ordination Service with 26 new ministers receiving their OMC.

James Macpherson and his team have considered the best way to strengthen our churches. Some of his work has been seen in the presentation of church compliance and governance webinars presented by Graham Corney from Corney & Lind Lawyers. These webinars are on our website and can be accessed by pastors and their boards at any time. GOALS AND VISION

Our ACC QLD/NT objectives haven’t shifted. We want to see God glorified by having stronger leaders and stronger churches, which will facilitate more leaders and more churches. The key to the continued growth and the future of our movement is the planting of new churches, the releasing of new leaders and the ongoing fortifying of our pastors and churches at a regional level.

NEW INITIATIVES

With much work done by Chris Mulhare and his team, we are bringing our credentialing process into the digital age by going online. No more paper! All will be interactive and automatic. Murray Averill and his team continue to look at how we best equip our pastors. This has seen changes to the Pastors’ Intensive and now the introduction of a “Pastors’ Master Class Series” in 2015, where several key pastors will open their hearts and their church, so others can glean and learn.

It is an incredible honour to be the leader of ACC QLD & NT and I want to thank my incredible team who continue to do a stellar job in the sphere of their influence – the State Executive, the Departmental and Regional Leaders. JOHN HUNT STATE PRESIDENT QUEENSLAND/NORTHERN TERRITORY

STATE REPORT SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Conference Period 2013-2015 has been an interesting and challenging period for South Australia. It has been a time of change and freshness of vision and spirit which follows a decline in numbers of churches and attendees. LEADERSHIP

Our State Conference in May 2014 saw a reasonably large change in the composition of the leadership team with a number of new members being chosen including the appointment of a new State President. South Australia thanks David Helyard for his tireless effort over his 3½ year term, inputting to pastors, boards, leaders and congregations causing everyone to feel cared for and to have a greater connectedness to the larger body. The new South Australian State Executive comprises: Paul Newsham (State President) Daryl Potts (State Vice President) Chris Sutton (State Secretary/Treasurer) Darren Braund (Executive member) Karyn Ey (Executive member) Keith Fiebig (Executive member) Greg Johnston (Executive member) Our Chaplaincy department has increased in personnel and scope of ministry while Teen Challenge acquired a new property in the hills, more suitable to its vital work. A number of our churches, particularly in country areas, have upgraded their buildings ready for growth along with a few name changes to more accurately reflect the local vision. A joint venture between Youth Alive and ACC Kids saw thousands of kids and youth trained and many decisions for Christ. INITIATIVES

Innovative initiatives from the new team have allowed a fresh sense of life into the movement and which have already had great impact across the board: Portfolios allocated. The consequence of each Executive member having specific responsibilities to manage is that all aspects of the state have a representative that ‘owns’ the role, the workload has been shared and goals are being achieved across all aspects of the work. I am very appreciative of the energy and commitment being shown by each member. Executive Internship A number of younger experienced pastors now attend Executive meetings as observers. Even more exciting is that these interns shadow the elected members on a six monthly rotational basis, assisting in the | 38 |

outworking of the portfolios both on projects and day-today functions of the state. Creating ‘state literate’ pastors experienced in the nuances of leading the larger body of ACC prepares us for an exciting future. State Pastors Meetings Extended periods of prayer have energised all of our personnel and brought us to a new level of desire for the Holy Spirit to move. More emphasis on impartation to new credential holders has also been empowering with prophetic words flowing and great anointing being received. Statement of Focus: Written as a result of prayer and desire for a greater level of anointing this short, succinct paragraph has changed our language, become a measuring stick for our activities and keeps us moving very deliberately towards our potential. Church Planting and Development: Creation of portfolios has impacted our thinking in many ways but primarily in Church planting and the development of healthy churches. Over the past few months we have been actively encouraging church planting and opportunities have opened. A small number of ministries have commenced which we believe will quickly translate into new churches and there have also been a number of existing independent churches that have approached us to come under the ACC banner, some of which are already being processed. Linking with this is an increased passion for evangelism. Training: Our training portfolio is also working on upgrades to all training. We have committed ourselves to raising up the next generation and to replacing ourselves with competent younger leadership over the next few years. VISION

With a number of churches having replacement pastors and across the state a renewed sense of belonging to the national ACC family, we see great possibilities ahead of us. The assistance of our National Executive during some difficult times has been greatly appreciated and has helped to put us on a better footing for growth. The future of ACC SA is bright with a new excitement and passion for whatever the Lord wants. We are determined to see growth in all ways and to experience a powerful move of the Holy Spirit. ACC Victoria has three main conferences every year. Our State Conference in September; our Adore Women’s Conference in April and our Men’s Conference in July. While there have been many highlight and much cause for gratitude the emergence and success of our Multinational Pastor’s Network led by Lucky Kanagasabai has been noteworthy. Some 40% of our metropolitan churches are primarily uni-ethnic and come from a non-English speaking background. These churches face unique challenges assimilating to the Australian way of life and this network has worked to close the gap and build closer relational ties with these churches and pastors. SHANE BAXTER STATE PRESIDENT - VICTORIA

STATE REPORT WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The past two years in Western Australia have been years of growth and increase. There is an ever increasing sense of ‘fellowship’ and camaraderie among the pastors and churches and this has resulted in a great sense of God’s spirit and presence at all our State events! We are experiencing the psalmist’s observation “how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity … for there the Lord commanded the blessing!” LEADERSHIP

In our last State Conference Joel Chelliah was re-elected with overwhelming support to lead the State for a second term. Ken Lee and Nils Carstens stepped aside from the Executive to focus on the demands of their growing churches. As a result we welcomed Ian Weaver and John Mezbourian to the team. They are already injecting a new enthusiasm and (in John’s case) a more youthful perspective. The Western Australian ACC State Executive comprises: Joel Chelliah (State President) Ken Fletcher (Vice State President) David Vicary (State Secretary/Treasurer)

We are also running ‘Round Table’ events to upskill our pastors in multiple areas such as church planting, governance, preaching skills and others. We are taking some of these concepts to country WA as we seek to serve even better the rural pastors in our Fellowship. Just For Her Our State Women’s conference, Just For Her, is an outstanding success every year. It is led by Sue Keehan who is an anointed and popular leader inspiring women at every level.

INCREASING SENSE OF FELLOWSHIP AND CAMARADERIE AMONG PASTORS AND CHURCHES

Patti Hardy Peter Meyer John Mezbourian Ian Weaver FACTS & STATS

Our State comprises more than 90 churches with 243 ACC pastors serving over 22,000 constituents. At our last State Conference, we saw our largest ever attendance with more than 550 registered delegates and 700 people attending the night sessions. We also had the privilege of presenting credentials to more than 30 new ACC ministers. EVENTS

Masterclass Weekends We are currently sponsoring regular Masterclass weekends. At these events Senior Pastors spend a couple of days gleaning and learning from some of our State’s top pastors.

Youth events The Youth Alive Conference along with the regional ‘Groundswell’ events continue to reach and serve a new generation of believers! NEW INITIATIVES

We are excited about launching our new church planting initiative ‘Starting Strong.’. We are providing an advanced level of instruction and preparation for church planters as well as offering a ‘dollar for dollar’ incentive to act as seed money for new church plants. This really is one of those ‘watch this space’ times. It has been said that Australian Christian Churches is a national movement with State expressions. We count it a privilege to be that State expression here in Western Australia and we are committed to serving the pastors and churches within the State and whenever possible, even beyond.
