Paolo Di Paolo was born in Larino, a small town in southern Italy, in 1925. While studying history and philosophy at La Sapienza University, he developed an interest in figurative art using the medium of photography. His first photograph was published in the cultural weekly Il Mondo in 1954. Tim Bengel was born in Stuttgart in 1991 and studied art history and philosophy at Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen.
