Dear Friends of teNeues and Booksellers
Spring at teNeues is all about strong women. Eye Mama by Karni Arieli documents the views of international female photographers of the reality of their lives at present in poetic, emotional, and high-caliber images. Even if we are not all mothers, we were all once children, and in this wonderful book we see what connects women all around the world: their devotion and their strength.
The fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin was also a strong woman. We pay homage to her pioneering spirit and determination in what was a very male-dominated industry in the early 20 th century with a comprehensive biography in a lavish illustrated volume.
In teNeues’ focus on photography, you will discover the unrivaled images taken by Andy Summers, former guitarist of The Police, on his travels around the world spanning more than 30 years. Werner Pawlok takes us to spectacular greenhouses and enchanting botanical gardens in his indulgent, one-of-a-kind book, Greenhouses, and David Drebin transports us to undreamed-of worlds in his latest coffee table book, Flirting with Danger
At long last, we can travel again! Allow yourself to be swept away by the magic of the Far North (Greenland ), the Cyclades, and Namibia, and discover an unfamiliar side of New York and Berlin in our new Unseen series.
In spring, of course, the teNeues theme of luxury is a must: Timeless Treasures celebrates the passion for pre-owned watches and all its many aspects. The Watch Book – Oris tells the story of the Swiss watch industry and pays tribute to the watchmaking company, which is exceptional in many ways. With The Maserati Book , we continue the successful automobile series of the well-established duo of René Staud and Jürgen Lewandowski.
Anyone seeking inspiration for their own home is sure to find it here: Colors and Scandi Style are the two new volumes in the home inspiration series launched in the fall.
We are also very pleased to have another extraordinary art volume in our catalogue. The up-and-coming painter Brett Charles Seiler, who works in Cape Town, captivates us with his special techniques and very intimate, personal works, which we are pleased to present in their own dedicated publication.
I hope you truly enjoy discovering great stories and, of course, feasting your eyes on gorgeous pictures!
Thank you for your support and loyalty to our publishing house.
Yours, Stefanie Penck

Eye Mama is a moving photographic portrait as told by women, and mothers. Its poetic images reveal the strength and the power, the love and the fragility, the loneliness and the intimacy of families, of mothers and children all around the world from a personal point of view—a self portrait of motherhood.
With her “Eye Mama Project,” photographer and filmmaker Karni Arieli has created a spectacular and groundbreaking art project on Instagram, in which she curates pictures on mothers, carers, families, and the home
Their photographs capture scenes from their lives— disarmingly honest, touch ing, sometimes sad, often humorous. They show ex haustion, a state of being overwhelmed, chaos, tenderness, love, and hope; a sign of humanity in these challenging times.

Already enjoying huge international success, this young artist uses very simple materials (canvas, wooden frames, wall and roof paint) and stripped-down colors to express his thoughts on gender and sexuality in a riveting manner. Born in Zimbabwe, Brett Charles Seiler plays around with the supposed ideals of masculinity. His works depict intimate, lonely, or vulnerable situations, and he often uses words pointedly, for example, in his strictly typographic piece “This is a gay painting.”
Brett Charles Seiler was born in Zimbabwe in 1994. Today he lives and works in Cape Town. After graduating from the Ruth Prowse School of Art in 2015, he showed works in various group exhibitions in galleries in Cape Town, New York, London, and most recently at Galerie EIGEN + ART in Berlin. His chosen hometown of Cape Town has hosted three solo exhibitions of his work to date.

When you think of underwater photography, the first thing that comes to mind is the ocean, but in this case it is something completely different. Barbara Cole uses water to disrupt gravity and visual habits; her models, mainly women, float, glide, and spin through the waves, shrouded in ethereal fabrics or even no more than a veil of air bubbles.
Cole’s perfectly rendered works of art are collected by public and private institutions and have been exhibited around the world. Over time, her photographs have grown progressively closer to paintings. What her motifs share is the visualization of transfor mation, freed from the concept of time, in a magically poetic visual language.
Barbara Cole was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1953. Throughout her career, Cole has worked internationally on commercial projects and large-scale art commissions. She has won prestigious awards such as the Grand Prix at the Festival International de la Photographie de Mode in Cannes, France. The documentary series “Snapshot: The Art of Photography II“ featured an episode devoted exclusively to Cole’s photographic practices in 2012.

Andy Summers has been one of the great musicians of his generation since the 1970s, achieving international fame both as the guitarist of The Police and as a solo artist. His photographic works of art, displayed in galleries around the world, are equally fascinating and he shares them with his audience at music and photo shows.
Now, for the first time, A Series of Glances brings together Andy’s best fine art photographs from several decades. He takes us on sprawling journeys through different cultures, showing us
portraits and nudes, street scenes, and seem ingly randomly captured details—with each and every shot, he proves his unerring instinct for capturing extraordinary moments.
Born in Blackpool, England, in 1942, Andy Summers achieved worldwide fame in the 1970s as the guitarist for the British band “The Police,“ touring later as a solo artist. “Rolling Stone” magazine named the 1982 Grammy winner one of its top 100 guitarists of all time in 2011. Since his first photo book “THROB” was published in 1983, Andy has also gained international recognition as a fine art photographer, with numerous exhibitions in various countries. Andy Summers continues to perform on stage as a musician and behind the camera as a photographer.

Blocking out the world for one brief moment to bring an exciting fantasy to life—David Drebin does this with every single one of his photographic masterpieces. In his new book, Flirting with Danger, the acclaimed star photographer now presents particularly spectacular moments that can’t help but spark your imagination. What will happen next? What came before?
This coffee table book is dedicated to the fascinating attraction of the forbidden and dangerous in dream motifs that evoke the world of cinematography— always elegant, rich in romantic melancholy, often with a touch of eroticism. Given the volume’s extralarge size, the artist’s hyper-realistic images unfurl their maximum impact, enchanting their beholders on every page.
David Drebin’s work combines voyeuristic and psychological perspectives in a unique manner. His photographs are epic, dramatic, and cinematic: femmes fatales against big-city backdrops, sex appeal and melancholy, and also humor form the subject and content of his images. After studying at New York’s Parsons School of Design in 1996, Drebin went on to become an internationally successful photographer of movie stars and major figures in sports and show business. Drebin is represented by renowned art galleries in Montreal, Los Angeles, Berlin, Munich, and Vienna.

After London Unseen (page 22) and New York Unseen (page 20) comes Berlin Unseen. Like its counterparts, this book offers an authentic yet artistic approach to a city that is an icon in itself.
And who better to capture the German metropolis than the star of Germany’s street photography scene, Martin U Waltz?
His magnificent photographs reflect the soul of the city in expressions, gestures, and situations. They are moments of the real Berlin: surprising architec ture, striking faces, secluded rear courtyards, and vibrant subcultures. The city is viewed from its outskirts and at the same time from its innermost core—a study in which the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag for once play supporting roles.
Photographer, author, and photography teacher Martin U
lives in Berlin. His works have won multiple awards and have been displayed in numerous exhibitions in Germany and other European countries. He has authored and co-authored several books and many articles on street photography. He is also passionate about teaching photography, and he offers photography workshops in Berlin.

Luc Kordas works in both color and black and white, but finds the latter to be more expressive. Looking at his extraordinary photographs of New York, we discover tranquil winter landscapes, tender moments on the subway, humorous random compositions and, above all, Luc’s unerring instinct for the exact right moment— through his lens, an everyday scene becomes a work of street art.
Viewers are given a chance to see the big city on the East Coast of the United States up close and personal. There are no gigantic structures like the Empire State Building to marvel at from afar, instead you feel the sun on a policeman’s face, or the snow in an old woman’s collar, or the wind flipping an umbrella; you can almost smell the smoke wafting over a card table and hear the last raindrops as they fall into a puddle.
Luc Kordas is a Polish-born photographer who lives and works in New York. In his work, he seeks to capture timeless and everyday moments. An avid traveler who is on the go more often than not, he likes to combine his favorite genres of photography, ranging freely between documentary, portrait, travel, and street photography.

The highest peaks in the world? Sure, we all know them. But what is the highest peak in each country? That is surely a more interesting question!
Czech adventurer Jarda Zaoral has provided an answer to this question for Europe. He was on the go for a mere 361 days and experienced a number
of bizarre stories between Vatican Hill (75 meters above sea level) and Mont Blanc (4,808 meters above sea level), which he shares with readers: Why he climbed a mountain with a broomstick, where his friend almost lost his nose in the extreme cold, and how he survived an encounter with a bear. An exciting and entertaining journey across Europe!
Jarda Zaoral is a Czech photographer, adventurer, blogger, speaker and author based in Stockholm, Sweden. Even though he started his professional career as a business consultant, his passion for adventures was so strong that he left his office job to pursue his dream of working as a freelance photographer. During his life-changing expedition ”European Peaks“ he climbed the highest peak of every European country in the fastest time ever: 45 mountains in 361 days.

Santorini, Naxos, Paros, and Mykonos: These names have a promising ring to them, and anyone who hasn’t been there yet is bound to harbor a desire to visit these islands. In other words, a paradise with picturesque villages and gorgeous beaches?
In Cyclades, Rudi Sebastian paints a more nuanced picture of the islands—including the
places these islands are famous for, of course, but he does not stop there. He reveals gleaming white towns and semi-derelict villages, bustling life in the summer and virtually deserted streets in the winter. Greenland is an unfamiliar world for most people— Fokion Zissiadis sets out to change this in his fantastic book of photographs. He shows the country and its people, its flora and fauna in impressive images, and these in turn reflect how deeply passionate he is about the Far North, especially the vast, icy beauty of winter.
His photographs are accompanied by a very personal interview, in which Fokion Zissiadis describes how and why Greenland became his focus, and why he initially approached the endeavor a bit too casually. He draws our attention to the indigenous population, but also to the dangers Greenland’s environment is facing.
Born in the Northern Greek city of Thessaloniki in 1956, Fokion Zissiadis first became involved in photography while studying architecture in Philadelphia. Since 2016, he has been fully dedicated to his passion for landscape photography and adventure travel, by planning and organizing solo photography expeditions to remote destinations of immense natural beauty. Greenland is Fokion’s third published work. His first solo photography exhibition, “Icebergs—From Genesis to Extinction,” was held at the Benaki Museum in Athens in October 2019.

Namibia is a trailblazer when it comes to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability, and with its 20 national parks and game reserves to date, the country has an above-average proportion of nature and animal conservation areas on the African continent. But even there, the focus on climate change is continuously increasing, particularly in the
travel industry. While green travel is just catching on worldwide, soft tourism is already being cultivated by numerous stakeholders in Namibia.
In GREEN NAMIBIA , photographer and author Patricia Parinejad presents inspiring hospitality operators and activists committed to protecting nature, working with local producers, and continually striving to reduce their carbon footprint. A stunning book with brilliant photographs and gripping writing that celebrates a deep connection with Mother Earth.
Originally from Tehran, Patricia Parinejad came to Germany as a teenager during the Persian Revolution and grew up living between two conflicting cultures. This taught her to contemplate cultural belonging and to create her own personal identity. These topics fascinated her, drove her, and left their imprint on her. Equipped with an adventurous spirit, courage, and a natural curiosity, along with an interest in people, places, and nature, the photographer and author became a globetrotter. Patricia now divides her time between Berlin and Mallorca; Namibia is where her heart lives.

Werner Pawlok is famous for his expressive photos of performance artist Leigh Bowery, shots of Cuba in vibrant color, and dramatic images of Venetian palazzos—and you can expect nothing less than a visual extravaganza when he turns to Europe’s most beautiful greenhouses, from Kew Gardens in London to the Great Palm House at Schönbrunn.
These are not simply functional buildings for greenery. They were built to capture visions of the exotic and the beautiful behind glass. You can almost smell the soil and sense the leaves and blossoms breathing as you look at Pawlok’s large-scale images. Mesmerizing effects of light, the intricate architecture, and lush vegetation make each photograph a work of art.
Werner Pawlok , born in the German city of Stuttgart in 1953, founded the first gallery for photography in southern Germany in 1980. His work gained wide recognition in the late eighties when his pieces were shown in group exhibitions of works by Warhol, Richter, Mapplethorpe, and Polke. Pawlok’s works have their own very unique character, and they have a strong impact on those who gaze upon them. His style is beyond the mainstream, leading to recognition of his work around the world in museums and galleries, as well as among collectors.

Just how important parks and green spaces are is particularly obvious in today’s world. The Climate crisis, sustainable urban planning, and the viability of urban living spaces for the future are topics that hardly anyone is impervious to.
In this book, Jessica Jungbauer pays tribute to modern-day oases that are meeting these challenges. She takes a highly diverse approach, looking at the agricultural use of rooftops just as she does at the revegetation of former industrial sites and the restoration of landmarked parks.
New York’s High Line, Paris’s Plein Air organic flower farm, and Berlin’s Neo-Baroque Körnerpark—the inspiring projects showcased in this stunning book inspire hope for a better urban way of life.
Jessica Jungbauer is a freelance journalist and photographer focusing on food, travel, and sustainability. Through her writing and photography, she tells the stories of inspiring people and places committed to creating a sustainable future. Her work appears in leading magazines worldwide such as “National Geographic Traveler,” “DER SPIEGEL,” “ZEITmagazin ONLINE,” “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung,” “VOGUE,” “The Guardian,” BBC, “Condé Nast Traveler,” and more.

A lamp is so much more than just a source of light, and it comes in an almost infinite number of forms. It can be a design piece or a statement, a room divider, a provocation, a source of comfort, and many other things.
The volume Sculpting Light brings together exceptional pieces of modern lighting design. From chandeliers to pieces for the wall or table,
sometimes sculptural, sometimes minimalist, sometimes opulent, yet always special. The book features iconic designs, as well as examples of rare experiments with both forms and materials. Notable designers such as Michael Anastassiades and Lucie Koldova reveal their sources of inspira tion and personal favorites, and legendary manufacturers and designers the likes of Louis Poulsen, Alvar Aalto, and Vitra are portrayed.

This coffee table book portrays the beach as both a stage and a yearned-for destination, with stellar photography and entertaining narratives, such as how Coco Chanel invented summer tanning and when and where the extraordinary seaside lighting gave inspiration to artists like Picasso. It tells of the beauty of deserted beaches, of luxurious dwellings that are the stuff of dreams, of the iconic status of surfers, of fashion and film, of great performances and memories of childhood.
Beach. The word itself is a source of eternal enchant ment, promising warmth and lightness, conjuring leisure or teeming with life, embodying relaxation or joining in games and athletic endeavors. It is ever the place where we would rather be.
Born in 1971 in Braunschweig, Stefan Maiwald is one of Germany’s most versatile authors. Jeanne Lanvin was ahead of her time. A trained milliner, she opened her first boutique in Paris in 1889 and with her enormous creative energy she succeeded in becoming one of the greatest fashion designers of the early 20 th century. “Her designs,” wrote a daily newspaper as early as 1911, “are so characteristic that they are not only widely worn, they are equally widely copied.”
Whatever she set her mind to, from ready-to-wear children’s fashions to playful women’s couture and perfumes to costumes for theater and film productions, her innova tive ideas and cuts revolutionized the respective branches. Today, her company Lanvin is the longest-running fashion company in the world.

Black jazz musicians of the 1930s and 1940s are attributed with first using “cool” as slang, and it was quickly adopted by teenagers. Nowadays the word is ubiquitous—and vaguely refers to anything that is considered laid-back or trendy. But what does it actually mean, how does “coolness” become something tangible? What makes it so appealing?
Michael Köckritz uses a comprehensive approach to explore these questions by talking to experts, iconic figures, and famous faces, and researching history and stories.
He makes an impressive argument for coolness as a timeless, modern, emotional experience and self-con fident attitude that lives off the appeal of not fitting in, while simultaneously cap tivating us with its markedly aesthetic dimension.
As a journalist, author, artist, and media maker, Michael Köckritz always succeeds in delivering attentiongrabbing inspiration with good-natured ease when it comes to contemporary and visionary topics and the realms of lifestyle and luxury. As publisher and editor-in-chief, he has produced numerous book and lifestyle magazine publications that have long been regular recipients of national and international awards. The car and culture magazine “ramp,” the men’s lifestyle magazine “rampstyle,” and the design magazine “ramp.design” are published internationally and widely regarded as influential in the world of style.

Tennis is one of the few sports women have been allowed to play right from the start—and it’s also one of the few sports an entire lifestyle has developed around. Perhaps because a certain amount of flirtation and lightness have always been part of it? Tennis has been a source of
fascination since the 19 th century for recreational players, fans, and professionals alike. How many dramas and spectacular scenes have taken place on the court, from an enraged John McEnroe to a flamboyant Andre Agassi to the queen of tennis, Serena Williams, who once played with 400 diamonds on her shoes!
Tennis – The Ultimate Book is dedicated to the stories on and off the court, it describes the history of the sport, takes readers to some of the most important venues, covers the most exciting tournaments and legendary athletes and, last but not least, dives into tennis fashion and equipment.
Designer, editor, and author Peter Feierabend can find one of the approximately 3,000 books he has worked on sitting on almost every bookshelf, and he is far from calling it a day. Born in Hanover, Feierabend studied design at the Berlin University of the Arts before making Cologne his home, where he has lived for the past 25 years.

Today, photography is part of everyday life for the vast majority of people—digital, fast, and fleeting. But in the mid-twentieth century, it was a completely different story; photographers viewed themselves as authors and entertainers. Russell Melcher was one of the greats—in this volume, he shows us his most impressive pictures while telling us his best stories.
He followed the beautiful, the rich, the famous, and the powerful around the globe, chronicling their lives. The Windsors, Romy Schneider, Elvis Presley, Fidel Castro, and the Shah of Iran have all appeared in front of his camera.
As European Director at Magnum and then Photo Editor at “Paris Match,” he later worked with such photography legends as Robert Capa and Elliott Erwitt, shaping the charac ter of the style-setting photo agency.
Russell Melcher was born in the U.S. in 1931, but spent most of his time living in Paris or traveling. He worked as a photographer, photographer’s agent, and photo editor. His photographs were published in “Life,” “Time Magazine,” “Paris Match,” “Spiegel,” “Stern,” and others, giving their readers a glimpse of the world. Matthias Grenda counts many years of international experience as an entertainment and communications consultant, and has a wealth of expertise in biographical storytelling. The successful Watch Book series continues: In this volume, bestselling author Gisbert L. Brunner focuses on the history and industry of Swiss watches, and on the house of Oris in particular. The luxury manufacturer, in business for nearly 120 years now, is one of the few to produce exclusively mechanical watches. Founded in 1904, the company is considered unique in the luxury
world of watchmaking—it is managed indepen dently rather than by a large corporation, respected as a down-to-earth brand and committed to sustainability, true to its credo: “Things must make sense.” We hear from those who have accompanied the brand on its journey, and the manufacturer’s best watch models are presented in exquisite style.
Born in 1947, Gisbert L. Brunner has been working with precision timepieces of all kinds, especially wristwatches, since the 1960s. During the quartz crisis of the 1970s, his love for the seemingly vanishing mechanical timepieces grew even stronger. His ardent enthusiasm for collecting inspired him to publish his first articles in the early 1980s. Gisbert L. Brunner has published more than 15 books on this subject to date, and he is in demand as a speaker all over the world.

This coffee table book presents Maserati in the best possible light—even though the quintessential sports car has no need of it.
The dream team of René Staud and Jürgen Lewandowski has once again produced a coffee table book of superlative automobiles. Phenomenal shots show a number of legendary models such as the Sebring and the beautiful Ghibli, along with, of course, some new highlights from the portfolio of the family-owned company, founded in 1914.
Entertaining copy, accompanied by photographs from the archives, recounts racing successes in Formula One and the Targa Florio, stories of celebrities who called a Maserati their own, and appearances by the legendary automobile in films
such as the French film “Intouchables,” where the distinctive sound of the Maserati arouses an incredible sense of joy in both driver and passenger.
René Staud is the grand seigneur of automotive photography. The Magicflash®, a lighting system he designed and built in 1983 specifically to meet the needs of studio photography, is still state of the art today and is part of the secret behind Staud’s characteristic style. Over the years, the models of all major car brands have appeared in front of his lens. René Staud is a multiple bestselling author with teNeues, from “The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Book” and “The Porsche 911 Book” to “The Jaguar Book,” which was published in 2021.
