2 Hypothesis 2 As part of its mandate, the Department of Homeland Security is often involved in identifying citizens and other people trying to gain entrance into the USA. In this regard, this agency often uses facial recognition technologies and other biometric technologies in the course of its day-to-day operations. Research Question 4 To what extent can emergency management practitioners involve the community in disasters and crises such as COVID-19? Hypothesis 4 The COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated the need to merge personal and institutional efforts when it comes to disaster management. The places that have been relatively successful in managing the crisis have involved the community in disaster management efforts.
