Christianity - Statement of Doctrine 1. Trinity (What are the distinct responsibilities of each member, and can you explain why the Trinity is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian Church.) Even though the word “Trinity” does not appear in the Bible, the doctrine of the Trinity, which is to confess that God is “triune-he is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, three persons in individual union,”1 is evident in the Bible. One of many places in the bible is Deuteronomy 6:4. It says that “The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” In Matthew 29:19, Jesus tells disciples to baptize people “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Additionally, Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 13:13, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.”
