Human Resource Specialist Basic Function of the Position The HR Specialist will be responsible for managing the majority of the functions of the Human Resource department’s activities. The Specialist reports directly to the Human Resource Director, and will supervise a team of twelve staff in the HR department. Job Description 1.

The HR Specialist coordinates, plans and manages the duties of the Human

Resource department unit. The Specialist works in liaison with the Human Director and the rest of the HR team to implement HR policies and programs. 2.

The Specialist assesses gaps in the Hospital’s workforce and creates a job

description for personnel who would be suited for that role. The Specialist prepares advertisements for the position and places them in various media.

The HR Specialist receives applications and assesses them against the Hospital’s

recruitment policies and standards (Kumar, & Anjum, 2011). The Specialist selects candidates who meets the minimum qualifications and interviews them. 4.

Once a candidate is selected, the Specialist prepares a contract detailing the

incumbent’s terms of employment. HR Specialist Evaluation Factors The HR Specialist role is considered to be a high-ranking role in the organization. The standard pay is $120,000 per annum for a candidate with five years and $144,000 for a candidate with between six to ten years’ working experience (Mabaso, & Dlamini, 2017). The terms of employment may be renegotiated based on the Specialist’s skill, effort, education, responsibility and working conditions. Measuring the HR Specialist’s Performance The Specialist’s performance will be appraised on the basis of the value that they add to the position, and their ability to facilitate the Hospital’s achievement of its vision, mission and goals. Together with the HR Director, the Specialist will develop daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly targets, which their performance will be measured against.
